Gum Chewy Research Paper

Chewing gum in school is a heated issue because many people think it is rude and messy. Others argue it can help students focus, improve memory when taking tests, and relax while doing schoolwork or a test. But the negative argument is misguided because the mess wouldn’t happen if students were allowed to have gum, and therefore throw it away without feeling guilty. Still, the actual question that should be debated is what the benefits of chewing gum in school are.

Purpose : The purpose for this project explores whether chewing gum can benefit a majority of people with focus and concentration.

We tested three different brands of bubble gum. The three brands are Bubble Yum, Bazooka, and Bubblicious. There were 3 people that blew bubbles for our experiment. My Mom, Dad, and myself were the three bubble blowers. We each read a couple of articles on the best way to blow big bubbles. We then chewed each piece of gum for three minutes before blowing the bubble. We used a ruler to measure the diameter of the bubble in centimeters. Through my research, I believe that the bubble gum with the highest sugar content will blow the biggest bubble.

The last two items on the list are used to prevent cross contamination between the peanut butter and jelly jars.

Tootsie roll pops are an iconic candy for all ages. Like most people, I grew up enjoying tootsie roll pops. I would imagine, over the years that I have eaten thousands of them. As an adult, I feel a bit nostalgic when eating one, always remembering the slogan, how many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie roll pop?

The word adventuresome can be defined as “bold and daring”. “Adventuresome” Tourist may not know that Chewacla is the perfect place to experience the perfect adventure. This park is not only beautiful but it offers a variety of fun outdoor activities. Located on 696 acres, Chewacla is one of Alabama’s twenty eight state parks. It is located in Auburn and has been around since the 1930s. Chewacla is not only known for its beauty. This park offers recreational activities such as hiking, mountain biking, and water activities.

Gum has been around for hundreds of years, even the Ancient Greeks had a substance similar to gum to chew on. Unlike ancient times, when gum was harvested from a type of plant, in the early 1900’s the synthetic gum we now know exploded into America. Since then gum has grown to become an imbedded part of American culture. You can buy gum practically anywhere that has a local gas station or supermarket. Gum has health benefits like oral hygiene and appetite suppressant, not to mentions countless delicious flavors and competing companies. Two of the largest companies, William Wrigley Company, creator of 5 Gum, and Stride another widely known company, gross hundreds of millions of dollars yearly. Do you think Soda Pop is a caring/helpful person for others? Well I think Sodapop is because he is considerate for everybody. Soda pop is in a gang in the Outsiders and they are a group of teenagers that are that have low income. Soda pop sent a letter to Ponyboy and half of his paycheck when they ran away to hide, then He took of Ponyboy's shoes And socks when Ponyboy passed out on the bed and Sodapop didn't even do it to himself, then he kept Ponyboy,Deli and himself together .

Last but not least, Apple Pie Delish gum will be helping the Ottawa food bank. Ottawa food bank’s mission is to help people by giving food. The money you guys give towards the food bank, is providing more healthy and fresher food.

Although many people think all school rules are understandable, some school rules that could be dispossessed. The school rule about chewing gum, candy, and food could be disregarded easily. So if one school rule could be vetoed, not being able to chew gum, candy, or food should be vetoed.

Middle-school gum chewers received higher grades in math compared to the non-chewers. Gum chewing affects standardized math scores in adolescents. A stick of 5 chewing gum may even be helpful during a long day at the office, since chewing mint or caffeinated gum can decrease sleepiness. A boost of happiness may be found inside the wrapper, too. A stick of gum has proved to increase heart rate and cortisol levels, which sometimes results a better mood. Another study found two week of gum chewing decreased participants anxiety and some symptoms of depression. There may not be a definitive reason for chewing gum magical mental enhancements. The health problems that result in tobacco use tally an annual of $75 billion in direct medical costs (Slovic 36). That money spent on medical problems for smokers should be used to pay for more important things in our society such as schools, libraries, childcare, etc.
