Co-founder Sean Davis the website thefederalist.com wrote an article about Gun Control. The credibility of the website decreases as the writer starts the article in a biased tone. The writer argues how the debate about gun control and cycling repetition of the same issues over and over again. That facts should be discussed rather than myths. “Never in my life have I been required to fill out federal form 4473 and have the cashier run a background check on me before being allowed to buy an onion.”As Davis states that he himself a gun owner where he discusses the comment Former Barrack Obama said about buying guns. ”Last March, President Barack Obama was asked about guns during a press conference, and he responded by saying, “It’s easier for you to buy a handgun and clips than it is for you to buy a fresh vegetable.” Ignoring for the moment that the president does not understand the difference between a clip and a magazine, his claim is not true (Davis.)” Davis sounds defensive as he explained why buying a gun is not easier than buying a vegetable. Where Davis claim, never in his life did he ever fill out the federal form 4473 and background check to be able to buy an onion at the store.
The writer has a point in writing the article, per everytime there is a shooting. Comments and what should be done is being said. The writer is trying to shine the light through myths and facts but due to the approach the writer used. It can be
Say your worst fear comes into play; a robber has declared war onto your home. Someone has invaded your safe place to steal your belongings and hurt your family. What would you do? Would you want to be vulnerable and defenseless, or would you want to have a weapon to protect yourself? I for one, would like to possess a gun to protect myself. The Bill of Rights is the basic rights we are granted as American citizens. I disagree with the article “End the Gun Epidemic in America,” for a multitude of reasons. This article claims that the answer to stopping heinous crimes in America is to ban guns or at least have serious restrictions and regulations on them. On the contrary, I believe banning guns leaves citizens defenseless while presenting criminals with a greater field of opportunity.
Gun control is a controversial issue for a long time around the world, particularly in U.S. because of a lots of mass shooting in school and public places. The second Amendment of the U.S. constitution is one of the shortest in all of the bill of right, it was written by the time period of American’s birth and it is the spirit of self-defense that help the new citizens of U.S. win their own freedom from the British. But now as the gun shooting problem happening every day in America, this gun control problem has gradually become to a hot issue. Compare to other countries like Britain, Canada, Japan, China, the difference between U.S. and those countries is in these countries to get a firearm is a very difficult thing
Once every thirteen seconds an American uses a gun to protect themselves (Harris). Americans having to use their guns that frequently is not the ideal situation, but without having guns once every thirteen seconds a person would die from an act of violence. Gun control should not be stricter in the United States because, guns are an excellent source of protection, guns can lower crime rates, and gun control laws only affects law abiding citizens.
“The right to bear arms”, an amendment so prioritized by our founding fathers that it earned the very second spot on the list of birth rights as Americans. However, with constant tragedies striking the United States, such as massacres in public high schools and universities, mall shootings, and attempted assassinations on state representatives, it’s no wonder law makers are constantly debating the topic of gun control.
Gun control is a law that controls how guns are sold and used, and who can own them. Allowing people to possess and use a gun with legal documents in the United States is legal. There have been arguments on whether or not is should be legal to own a gun as some people see it as beneficial and others do not. It is believed that guns are beneficial to have, and they are there because we need to be able to protect ourselves. We should not allow the government to have power over gun control for many reasons including the loss of tradition of hunting, not being able to protect ourselves, and simply because of the second amendment.
Next, I went to an article by Chuck Baldwin, an American Politician, who disagreed with gun control laws: “Here we go again. We have another mass shooting at yet another “gun free” zone. Not only was the location a “gun free zone, it was located inside the nation’s capital, which has some of the strictest gun-control laws in the entire country,” Stated Chuck Baldwin, (Baldwin para. 1).
According to Michelle Ye Hee Lee, an author for the Washington Post, she claims that since the December attack in 2012 on Sandy Hook Elementary school all the way to the June 2014 Oregon incident there has been a total of 74 school shootings. This number will only rise if a strong gun control law is not enforced into the entire nation. For years now President Obama has been demanding stronger gun control but the conservative Republicans have been fighting the bill claiming that it jeopardizes the rights given by the second amendment. In the article “Gun Control is Unconstitutional”, the author quotes “in another issue of the Federalist Papers (No. 45), the powers of the federal government were to be “few and defined”... federal power to regulate guns is anything but “defined; it’s explicitly denied” (Gun Control is Unconstitutional). As someone who does not know the law as well as the individual writing this, if his argument is true. There are certainly alternatives which can work around this statement. One solution to this is having better backgrounds checks as well as a periodic mental health assessment of gun owners as well as future gun owners to make sure individuals with mental disorders such as schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder do not intentionally harm others because of their instability. A clear example of this can be seen on July 2012 after the latest blockbuster movie release of Batman. An individual named James Holmes arrived to the theater
Federal law has made the sale of firearms illegal to various individuals who have a history of being mentally unstable and licensed dealers to perform a background check before selling firearms. However, federal law has not made it mandatory for unlicensed sellers (individuals) to perform background checks. Additionally, states have the option of requiring dealers to conduct background checks through state or local agencies or directly through the FBI. States that conduct their own background checks can search records and databases in addition to those that the federal law requires to be searched. Surprisingly, state databases typically include information that is unavailable to the FBI, including outstanding felony warrants, mental health
The bill, To Increase Gun Control Act will provide a secure background check for people who are trying to buy or own a gun. This bill will only provide legal gun to people who have no criminal history and clear background checks. This will create a rule to make background check more efficient and faster for the FBI to check a person background information accurately and increase weight time period. The purpose of this bill is to provide people the sense of safety in their neighborhood and their house. One million dollars will be provided to each state to provide police stations for Cash for Gun programs. Cash for Guns programs will offer people to recycle the gun they don’t need in exchange for 100 dollar per gun. 93% of the crimes used in
I believe you’re using APA and you did a good job of doing that, but you need to put your title on your first official page (the page you actually start your essay). I also think you should come up with a better title than just gun control, I mean what about gun control, your title doesn’t give me any insight on what you actually will be talking about dealing with guns. Going through it I can sense what you are trying to convey but the title is a little bland. Also, you cannot have your reference page on the same page as some of your essay, so the last page needs to JUST be your reference page. Speaking of references, I’m sorry to tell you, but you have no academic sources in your essay, no primary source either. You just have popular sources. My advice is go on websites
Imagine a small, happy family with a mom, a dad, and a little baby girl. Now imagine them hiding together in fear in the corner of their house as a man holds them at gunpoint, robbing them of everything they have. They can’t defend themselves because there has been a recent ban on all handguns in the United States. Scenarios like this will happen every day if we allow more gun control laws to be put into effect. Guns are used in defensive ways 250,000 to 350,000 times a year (Barrett). Can you imagine America losing that many more people every year, all because they enforced laws that wouldn’t allow everyone to have a gun? Gun laws in the United States are effective as they are and do not need to be added to or changed. In order to truly understand why, it is important to examine the causes of the problem, the effects of the problem, and what is being done or what can be done to help solve the problem.
Gun control is broken down and analyzed. The topic is generally discussed, talking about the concept of gun control laws and differences in these laws by state. The argument in favor of the topic is assessed from multiple different angles, and facts and sources are used to explain the general opinion of those that support gun control. Next, the other side is considered, with persuasive evidence and logic to prove the viewpoint that gun control is negative and harmful to the country. Aspects of the debate, such as conceal-carry permits and gun-free zones are discussed, and examples of crime stopped by citizens that possess a firearm are used to reinforce the main idea. Lastly, the article ends by considering other actions that could be
Gun control laws do not need to be tightened or increased. While guns can be obtained by a majority of the population, there does not need to be tighter restrictions because first, the constitution says we have the freedom to possess arms, and second, increasing gun laws have never reduced crimes.
As the article emphasizes, from the get go, the prospects of getting regulations on gun control passed, even despite the Connecticut shooting, were insecure. The article I selected helps to explain the measures that were being proposed, which include: expanding background checks, make gun trafficking and the purchase of firearms who are banned from owning them a federal crime, and to provide more money to schools to up security and other safety equipment. Personally, regardless of if one is for or against gun control, these measures seem like logical regulations to have on anything dangerous. However, once this measure passed the committee, the full Senate took into account this proposition.
Violence is a big problem around the world, and there are many issues related to this subject. A big debate that is happening at the United States of America nowadays, is about the rights of people to have guns. Many countries have several gun policies, and does not allow citizens to carrying fire guns, or even keep them into their houses. That is not the case at the U.S., the Second Amendment of their Constitution guarantees that right to American people, by saying: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”
