Gunter Rambow, a German graphic designer and photographer is best known for his innovative and striking poster designs. Born in the late 1930’s Neustrelitz, Germany, Rambow pursued the art of glass painting during the early years of his life. Dedicating four years of his life to this artistic practice, Rambow decided to study other forms of art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kassel under Hans Hillmann, another German graphic designer. It was in this time learning under Hillmann, that Rambow met fellow artist Gerhard Lienemeyer in which he shared a studio for 26 years and collaborated with frequently until the partnership ended in the late 1980’s. Some do not realize the fight that people went through over 300 years ago to gain religious freedom and work through and around the profiling given by the hierarchy of society. No one worked harder for the freedoms to be provided and stereotypes to be dissolved than Roger Williams, the founder of Rhode Island. Williams, born in London in 1603, was a seasoned young man early on, after witnessing many burnings at the stake of puritans for being "heretics" and not following the religion of the
Franz Marc was a German artist and printmaker, and also one of the key statistics of the German Expressionist movement. Franz Marc was born in February 8, 1880 in Munich and past away in March 4, 1916, eventually Marc was only 36 years old. Wilhelm, the father, was an expert landscape painter; his mother, Sophie, was a strict Calvinist. Marc began to study at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich in 1900. In 1903 and 1907, he spent time in France, intensely in Paris, visiting the city’s museums and copying many paintings, a conventional way for artists to study and improve technique.

In the Medieval Period, knights dedicated their lives to following the code of chivalry. In Sir Thomas Malory’s Le Morte d’Arthur, a number of characters performed chivalrous acts to achieve the status of an ideal knight. Their characteristics of respect for women and courtesy for all, helpfulness to the weak, honor, and skill in battle made the characters King Arthur, King Pellinore, and Sir Gryfflette examples of a what knights strove to be like in Medieval society. Because of the examples ofchivalry, Le Morte d’Arthur showed what a knight desired to be, so he could improve theworld in which he lived.
Roy Lichtenstein’s art ‘investigates modes of representation - the visual properties of style and reproduction’. (Weitman 1999 p.46) Lichtenstein was fixated on advertisements and comic strips. These modes of
Francis Pegahmagabow, for example, is the most decorated Indigenous solider for World War I and World War II and was “one of only thirty-nine soldiers in the Canadian Expeditionary Force to be awarded the Military Medal and Two Bars for valour, yet he is not mentioned even once in the voluminous war diary of the 1st Battalion, the unit he served with for almost the entire duration of World War I” (Hayes, 2009: 124). The reasons Pegahmagabow received these awards are still being debated. Pegahmagabow, who was an activist in Indigenous rights during his life after World War I and throughout World War II was quoted writing the following in a letter to the Canadian government in May of 1914:

Frederick Mckay was born in 1834 April 13 Lawrence, Massachusetts. Frederick went to public schools in Boston, Milford, Massachusetts. In his early career, he wanted to be a musician but he had health care problems that wouldn’t let him be successful. Fred worked in his father’s shop called the “ Dry Goods Store “ in Milford. Frederick was diagnosed with tuberculosis and moved to colorado in 1894. Mckay had some difficulties when he moved in colorado so he had to move back to Massachusetts.

The Navy's first African-American Master Diver, Brashear faced difficulties that would have defeated most people. His spirit and determination resulted not only in his overcoming great odds to become a U.S. Navy diver, but also in his surviving the loss of a leg in an accident on the USS Hoist in 1966 - and more amazingly - in his attaining the rank of Master Diver.
