This year, as a grade seven and intermediate division student, I am given the amazing opportunity of sharing my thoughts about possibly getting to attend the annual HCDSB event - Walk with Jesus. This experience would be an incredible chance to be closer to God, especially during the liturgy and mass, as well as walking from the two locations because it is an opportunity to reflect upon God’s greatness while witnessing the beautiful environment God has created. This sense of reflection and thought can help me to understand God’s outstanding wonders and it can deepen my knowledge of our faith. Here are other significant components to this event that I would like to highlight…
“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” –Mahatma Gandhi. This well spoken quote truly states the impact that we can make. I believe that we, as a united and positive community can change the

I believe that the actions of giving back to others shows how we are all one big family created by the image of God. I adore the idea that participating in this event supports the Halton Catholic Children’s Education Fund because they are committed to enhancing the educational experience and enriching the lives of students within our Catholic school communities. I would be very pleased to participate in an event that gives back to a variety of wonderful charities through fundraising.
The Walk with Jesus event is such a unique and special experience I would be incredibly thrilled to take part in. I can bring back life sustaining memories and friendships right within my own school board. I can also discover new things about my social, emotional, spiritual and physical well being as well as learning a numerous amount of things regarding my faith and my bond with God. I am excited to have had the opportunity to explain why this event would be an awesome day for
People enjoy feeling like they are making a difference in the lives of youth and seeing their donations put to example in these events. I think we have the more impactful engagement when we offer survivor story events. I can stand up at an event and talk all day about the benefits of the program but when a victim can express their gratitude for our work, people really feel we are making a difference and want to help out. I am very thankful for the community partners we have in Redwood County, Minnesota, people here are very interested in helping the youth in our community and building a program that helps them
This summer I have an amazing opportunity to continue to grow in my relationship with Him. I have been accepted to a summer mission sponsored by Cru called Echo. Echo is a two-week mission located in Boston that’s goal is to help college students to own their faith and lead ministry on their campus. From May 27th to June 10th, I, along with several other college students will receive training for evangelism, ministry, and spiritual leadership. Through Echo, I hope to develop the tools to own my faith and be an unashamed ambassador for Christ not only at Wellesley but also wherever the Lord leads me.
“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him... We need not wait to see what others do.” — Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma Gandhi, the civil rights leader, once said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” Ever since the 1900’s, people and the world’s problems have increased since. We’ve gone from wars to assassinations, natural disasters to racism, and from more wars to even more racism. And that’s just in America. Even now, problems still exist, and continue to increase throughout the years. Many people are trying to stop some issues, however not enough people care. Due to worrying about their own safety and social status, rather than helping others that are in the midst of danger and even death. There are many changes needed in this world, but I have two matters I’d like to specifically address.
Malcolm Gladwell describes how the world may seem immovable and implacable, but with even the slightest push in just the right place, it can be tipped. This quote is extremely visual and accurate, it keeps the writing thinking, even questioning their own thoughts. Saying, Is this true? Can really one person make a big difference?. Even if you think you can’t change the world, you’re
“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is like an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.” -Mahatma Gandhi Humankind is restored through the prayers of one through agonizing times, but it is difficult to keep a grip on faith when the ocean is constantly becoming a darkening, crashing sea of horror. In Elie Wiesel’s ordeal Night, the narrator portrays the struggles of maintaining faith through vivid details from his excruciating experience as a teenager being separated from his family and marched hopelessly to concentration camps around Europe.
“You don’t change the world with the ideas in your mind, but with the conviction in your heart.”
As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change toward him… We need not to see what others do.” (Mahtma Ghandi) A quote that I found online from the New York Times, which states that it is up to the individual to make a difference in our own world view. So it is up to us to help save what our ancestors and elders have protected since the time of
What sets this fundraiser aside from all usual fundraisers is that it helps create a meaning of realization and understanding of the people that they are helping by getting people to give up something that those people don`t have for 40 hours and what we take for granted in everyday life. This deeper understanding gives the fundraiser more meaning and spirituality, knowing that what you are suffering during this fundraiser is done by people you are helping every
I have been volunteering at various events to see how people get all excited for certain events. One event, in particular, was my school annual auction. If I remember correctly we had two-hundred and eighty guests come to our school. The end of the auction was one of the most eye-opening times within my teenage life. After eight girls performed a heartwarming poem to the guests, the auctioneer asked who wants to give money towards scholarships for these students. Arms went flying, and I can never forget that moment. I remember looking to my right and see a classmate in tears because not only did the guest donate, but our teachers did. It was then many of us noticed that they truly cared about us. If an auction regarding around the education of students can bring two-hundred and eighty people together, just imagine what can be done for the
Many people want to change America, but only a few people accomplish that goal. However, I intend to go beyond just changing America. I intend to change lives.
Mahatma Gandhi, a famous and well-respected world leader, once said, “We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change.” Gandhi simply says that the change starts with you. Kenner contributed a great
“We don't have to engage in grand, heroic actions to participate in the process of change. Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can change the world”
• Someone with the ability to bring true innovation to the world and the ability to make a difference.
Lately, the world seems to be in shambles. Everyone is suffering while the world becomes divided. People pitted against each other, knowing hate more than love. A drastic change needs to occur, for the world to be fixed. As late Martin Luther King Jr said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.
