Marketing The American market is rich with unique products and businesses. Some of these products and business prosper, while others fail. I believe that one of the main reasons behind the success of a company is their ability to make their brand recognizable and keep their customers. I believe that this success is brought by a familiar logo, advertisements, and reliable products. There are good examples of marketing in many successful companies. Additionally, there are many companies that have flawed marketing techniques, which may cause them to lose customers. Good marketing successfully promotes the brand, teaches information about the company, and entices new customers to buy a product while keeping current customers. A company with good marketing is Windows, especially with their recent television commercials. These commercials show real customers using their product and showcasing the features. In the end of these commercials, they also state that a Mac does not have the same functionality of a Windows PC. An example of a company with poor marketing is Hardee’s, especially their television commercials. In their television commercials, they show women models sexually eating a burger. These commercials fail to persuade people to buy their food, and they do not promote the Hardee’s name or logo. I believe that Hardee’s is also losing customers to their competitors due to the fact that the content of their commercials does not advertise the Hardee’s food as explicitly as competitor’s advertising. For example, Arby’s usually shows a high definition close-up of their food to make it look appealing, and actually advertises the sandwiches, while Hardee’s chooses to spend money advertising models rather than sandwiches.
