Introduction Healey and Zimmerman state (2010) that an innovative program will require not only team effort, but input from community leaders as well as collaborative partners, that will aid in the development, implementation, evaluation of a community education campaign, as well as the program continuance, including funding. The campaign should be built constructed on strong and understandable messages, so that the target population can take action and pass on the message from its memorable key components. An effective campaign then, will devise under the campaign logo what the problem needs to be changed, how the campaign will go about making this change, the consequences of not taking action, and the action to be taken to achieve the message of the proposed campaign (UN Women, 2012).
Campaign Title and Slogan The number one cause of death in the subsection (SPA 2 [Service Planning Area 2]) of Los Angeles County (LA County) is Coronary Heart Disease CHD (Los Angeles County of Public Health, 2013). The title of the campaign is “HAVE A HE❤RT Coronary Heart Disease Campaign”, with the slogan: HAVE A HE❤RT. The title and name are memorable, especially the slogan which can be recognized by all languages because of the heart symbol. The phrase, HAVE A HE❤RT, speaks the problem: heart disease, and it begs the audience to have a heart when it comes to health, not only with themselves but
Think about the implementation strategy and/or intervention method your group selected for your community program project.
The article gave an overview about how heart disease affects women and what can be done to prevent the disease. My argument is well supported by this newspaper article because it does prove heart disease is a problem and the top killer amount women, but it is preventable if people start to life a healthier lifestyle. The article can be used to inform who heart disease effects the population, and what can be done to prevent the startling
The artifact I selected is a public service announcement from the American Heart Association. The American Heart Association has produced various health issue ads and campaigns geared towards educating individuals on health risks, symptoms, prevention and facts about heart-related conditions. In the beginning of this video, NBA player Paul George is seen playing basketball on a court by himself reflecting on how his mother’s stroke was devastating and sudden. Paul George then stresses the importance of knowing the signs of a stroke. This is known as the acronym F.A.S.T., Face drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty and time to call 9-1-1. He desires to make sure that every person is knowledgeable of these signs so they will be prepared to act fast and possibly save someone’s life. I came across this video while looking up information about heart-related issues caused by high blood pressure. The message delivered in this video has become a reality for many in our nation. From this video, we learn that early detection is critical in increasing the stroke survival rate.
To improve the well-being of individuals through health education, counseling and detection screening programs. Over the next few weeks, our mission will consist of finding new solutions to better educate individuals in our society on the importance of health education, by improving care through technology, which ultimately better our society. Our organization will focus on fundraising, however, we focus on fundraising will be from a health perspective, to make sure we focus on individual health at all times. I will be responsible for the implantation of Better Health Care
DHEO public health campaign plan includes posts messages on Facebook. Facebook, an excellent place to market, build network and collaboration (Laureate Education, 2011). A market plan includes business clip videos and pictures as a mean to disseminating important CVD lifestyle of the heart messages. Moreover, include DHEO business VP number and email for one-on-one or group telehealth consulting. Facebook provides opportunity to market to friends and families and attract stakeholders as a financial incentive to gain campaign momentum, yet build partnership (CDC, 2012). A second marketing plan is to a submit DHEO business video clip advertisement in Sorensen Messenger Newsletter (Sorensen ntouch, 2015). Like the Facebook post, the newsletter will consist of promoting DHEO health outreach and initiatives in recruiting
After a lot of discussion, convincing and hard work, The Canadian Women’s Foundation was born, with the help of organizations, such as LEAF and YWCA. Today over $40 million in donations have been given to advance over 1,200 community programs and every women’s shelter across Canada (“Our History”). The Canadian Women’s Foundation’s focus is to empower women and advance their progress in society. Since women make up more than half of Canada’s population, using their skills and education, women can boost the economy. They believe that encouraging women can benefit all of Canadian society. Their focus is women who face the highest risk of poverty, violence, and sexual assault, such as the first nation’s women. One way they approach women in need of help is to go to different organizations and listen to what the women’s needs and issues might be and how the foundation can help with their funding. Another way they help women, especially when addressing poverty, is that they help the women realize their special skills that may help them make an income. The Foundation focuses on positivity and builds confidence in the women so they may help themselves. Instead of just funding programs, they help these women and girls escape violent environments, try to influence government policies to promote anti-violence, they focus on root
As a coordinator, I help to facilitate monthly workshops which center around academic advisement, health disparities and the development of community-based projects in which our students could provide a service to our neighborhood. Partnerships for Progress reminds me that in order to increase the standards of living in underserved areas, it requires the work of many and continual encouragement. If accepted into the PCLP program, I will gain insight into the challenges associated with lack of healthcare access, but I will also receive tools that will allow me to join in the removal of these
United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Healthy People 2020 (2018) recognizes cardiovascular disease as one of the most widespread and costly health problems in the United States, accounting approximately $320 billion in health care expenditures and related expenses annually. Healthy People 2020 (HP2020) identifies prevention of cardiovascular disease as one of the priorities and includes an objective “to increase overall cardiovascular health and quality of life for US population." (HHS, Healthy People 2020, 2018)
According to Humanium, “over one third of the world’s population does not have access to the medicines essential to their health and survival because of the high prices.” We are fortunate enough to live in a country that provides universal healthcare while millions of people across the globe, die from illnesses and diseases that could have been avoided or treated. We have the ability to prevent and possibly end this matter. As a part of the organization, Doctors without Borders, we have formed a campaign called Hearts That Care. Our main goal is to provide medical services and help those who are deprived of essential healthcare.
This campaign will be a non-profit organization for children and their families to be able to engage in healthy activities for their children to engage in. They will be provided with health education on healthy foods for their children to make sure they are eating properly. In order for t this campaign to be successful and a help to others we will need hands on deck. Our teachers, caregivers, and parents will all have to communicate with each other so that changes can be made for every child to succeed within this program. As the developer of this campaign, I will ensure that all education information is current, activities are tailored to the different communities across the country, and available to other countries as well.
Over the past 8 years, healthcare has been a major topic of debate. President and governmental elections, school systems and districts, local communities, and even cartoons have centered their focus on what seems to be one of the US’s major dilemmas: Healthcare. While our country has vast resources and often leads the world in advanced technology, healthcare and its access remains something we have yet mastered (Collaboration Health Care, 2015). As defined by WHO, the World Health Organization (2015), healthcare promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve their health. It moves beyond a focus on individual behavior towards a wide range of social and environmental interventions. While the concept of health promotion, its accessibility, and its maintenance are easy to understand, sometimes things easily understood aren’t as easily implemented into the general populations and their lifestyles. Unfortunately, there are many obstacles standing between the general population and complete access to healthcare. Some of the major hurdles include:
1. Innovation to improve the mortality and morbidity of cardiovascular disease in developing countries may involve new surgical procedures, new implants and pacemakers, coronary artery bypasses, surgical treatments for Atrial fibrillation, repair of congenital heart defects, heart transplants, aortic arteries repair, replacement or repair of heart valves, and aneurysm repair (Hsieh, Chang, Lee, Chen, & Chan, 2012). Moreover, the innovation involves the integration of computer charting and data collection. This may involve a computer-based data registry that is responsible of storing patient related data. Developing countries are stepping away from the pen and paper charting system to a more sophisticated computerized system (Hsieh et al., 2012). This will allow for better tracking and follow up of complicated cases. Moreover, technological advances in imaging, screening, and diagnosing methods may also help reduce morbidity and mortality related to cardiovascular disease. Developing countries are now able to conduct ECG’s, stress monitoring, heart changes monitoring, radiological procedures, and labs that could target specific cardiac markers Hsieh et al., 2012).
We all know someone who has suffered from heart disease. Whether it was from a heart attack, congestive heart failure, or stroke, some type of cardiovascular disease has taken the life of someone we loved way too soon. This epidemic of heart disease must be stopped through the collaboration of physicians, nurses, law makers, and concerned citizens. The purpose of this paper is to examine cardiovascular disease, the risks associated with heart disease and obesity per Milo’s framework, comparison of obesity and Healthy People 2020 national goals, and finally the long-term and short-term goals and interventions selected for this paper.
My proposed solution to this is that school counselors and city mayors can be a major source of inspiration to children who are affected by a challenge like this. They can advise them on how to build themselves with determination to make a difference.
Through this class, I understand the general gist of what controls the community in terms of power, organizational strength, and political influences. I have learned about what factors into certain decisions that community members make and what the recent outlook of community participation is. Even though I learned that community participation and involvement in organizations has declined over the past years, it is hopeful to find ways to combat this social apathy that is happening in America today. I enjoyed learning about strategies to help groups of people interact and create an active and responsive community power. The Greene and Haines text was well-organized, strategic, direct, and practical to the subject matter.
