It is generally believed that a longer and happier life stems from living a healthy lifestyle. There are many ways that one can live such a life. Getting an appropriate amount of sleep is important to everyone. Without rest, the human body will not function properly. The immune system weakens and people are more susceptible to everyday illnesses. Also, a well balanced diet that incorporates all of the major food groups and doesn 't exceed recommended daily caloric intake is crucial in any healthy lifestyle. However, it is not that hard to get into if you start by walking instead of taking the bus if you aren’t going too far. Taking the steps instead of the elevator is another great way to add some exercise to your day. By doing this you can burn some of the calories you consume throughout the day and remain active even if your job requires you to sit for most of the day.

Most of this family’s time is spent in front of television. Stay home mother does not cook in the house much, she orders the food from outside and she has hired a house made, who cooks and clean for the family. The mother stays indoors all day watching television and when the father returns from work he sits in front of the television as well. This family does not exercise nor does any kind of physical activity at home. This bad habit has been acquired by the children, who also suffer from lack of physical activity. Both children spend most of their time playing video games on the television or going on a texting marathons in their cell phones, all while sitting at one place.

Sudden realization has proven the benefits of reducing sedentary behavior; health improvement is a priority as a goal, shifting from pre-contemplation to contemplation. Once enter the contemplation stage, people will try to engage and stay in their behavioral change for at least six months. Even thought my behavioral change has only started in the past 3 weeks I’m confident that I will be able to complete six months. The contemplation stage was achieved when I decided to begin my journey to reduce my sedentary behavior. After initiating the contemplation stage I initiated the preparation stage, in which my schedule was developed and routines were created.

Even when I do not feel like going out for a run, I can still motivate myself to at least go for a walk. By doing so, my body has become accustomed to daily activity. Another way walking has improved my lifestyle is through my daily planning and time management skills. Before walking I would sleep in during the summer, often wasting hours of my day doing nothing. Now, I get up early and go for a walk or run. Once I return home, I am too energized to go back to sleep or to be lazy all day, I accomplish many more tasks and I make plans with friends. It is a nice feeling to know that you have had a productive day. Furthermore, as I mentioned in my last journal, walking is a great social activity. It is easy to get groups of friends and family to go out on walks. I have had great conversations during these outings and am I always pleased with the time I got to spend with my walking
Before I began my 'Grow Younger' program, every time I got the urge to exercise, I'd lie down until it went away. Now I exercise every day and it's fun!
First, Exercise is the way to go for most Adults in America. When you hear the word obesity you run to the gym of some sort just to try and lose the weight. In some cases it will not work. If you are thinking about exercising, try running at a nearby park with a partner to help you reach your goal. There are about 1,000 videos for exercising just to help you lose weight. Finding a partner or coworker to walk with will help to stay on track and make the walk more exciting. At work, always take the stairs when available instead of an elevator. When parking at the grocery store, work, etc., try parking a little farther away in order to get those extra steps in for the day. When needing to talk to a coworker or ask a question, personally walk to their office instead of emailing or texting, as this will get in extra steps, brighten the day to see other coworkers, and provide quicker answers (9 Easy Ways to Sneak in Exercise).
