As team leader I am responsible for organising workloads on a daily basis to ensure DVLA office service targets are achieved. I prepare a rota on a weekly basis allocating staff to different duties depending on their experience and abilities. Workloads dictate which duties take priority.
I attended the Special Master Hearing in Miami Lakes briefly, however, it appeared that the meeting had been canceled because no one was there. Instead, I decided to write a report on the Planning and Zoning Board Meeting which was held at Miami Lakes on October 24th. This would be the second board meeting I had viewed, in the past, I was required to observe a meeting in public meeting in Miami. At that time I choose to observe a committee meeting by Economic Development and Tourism Committee which was held by the Board of County Commissioners. I was expecting this committee meeting would be similar in terms of discussions of economic projections and zone development.

The IEP Team for Camden consists of 7 people. I am very grateful and most honored for the invitation to address a Joint Meeting of the United States Congress. I was born in Cuba, almost 43 years ago, under the control of its totalitarian communist government. My father suffered persecution for criticizing the regimen and faced allegations of planning to immigrate to the US to overthrow the Castro’s revolution. In 1961 he was sentenced to prison for many years. The government continually harassed and intimidated my family and limited resources of education and jobs for the whole family, before and after my father was released from prison. Their repressive acts also included public acts of shaming and threats. Meetings were held near our house and angry multitudes of people approached us yelling denigrating words, throwing eggs at us, and holding sticks threatening us to beat us. We were fortunate, but not many others in my small town, who were beaten up to death.

A good team leader will motivate and inspire his team, solving problems and empowering others to do the same. This about how to work with groups and other team members, most of the time it is hard to do but with our jobs nowadays we have to do what we have to do. I like working with others for the most part, especially when they are motivated in getting the job done in a timely manner. Then we have some that just don’t want to help but want everybody else to do their work for them.
