He began off just as a regular human being like the rest of us. But, what really lead him to being the hated person he was? On April 20, 1889 in Braunau am Inn, Austria, Adolf Hitler was born. He was born into a family of three, later being a family of six children. His father was Alois Schicklgruber who later changed his name to Alois Hitler. His mother was Klara Hitler who gave Alois her last name.
Early in Adolf’s life, when he was 14 his father had passed away. He died from pleural effusion (fluids that builds up in your lungs). A couple of years later Adolf had dropped out of school with permission from his mom. She later passed in 1907, and Adolf moved away to a place called Vienna. He worked there as watercolor painter, and applied to an art school but got rejected twice. By that time he had very little money and stayed in homeless shelters. In 1913, Adolf moved again to Munich and eventually applied to serve the German Army because of World War I. He got accepted in August of 1914 although he was still an Austrian citizen. Adolf got decorated with bravery and he received the Iron Cross First Class along with the Black Wound Badge. Germany later surrendered in 1918 which was a shock to most people. Klara showered Adolf with attention and Adolf had a friendly relationship with his sisters, Angela and Paula. He did very well in school and claimed that the schoolwork was “ridiculously easy”. Five years later, Adolf had the choice of going to the gymnasium, where he would further his art education, or Realschule, which prepared students for a future career. Since Adolf wanted to become an artist, he wanted to go to the Gymnasium. His father thought opposite. Alois pushed Adolf to go to Realschule in Linz.
