Can you imagine what it feels like of living on the street without a place to rest after a long day? Homelessness is an endemic social problem in the United States, with approximately 643,000 people living without a place to call home on any given night. From the past to present, homelessness is considered a major issue around the world. Nevertheless, many homeless people didn’t choose to be what they are in the society. There are various reasons why people become homeless; domestic violence, mental illness, low income, and drug/alcohol addiction. Teenagers and women are more likely to run away their home because of domestic violence. They push themselves by living in the streets instead of getting abused. Parents with addiction problems, are usually the ones to brutally abuse their family. Running away people with no specific places to go are putting themselves more at risk. Based on the article The Relationship between Victimization and Substance Use among Homeless and Runaway Female Adolescent “each year thousands of female Adolescents run away from home due to sexual abuse, yet they continue to victims of sexual assault once on the street.” Regardless, when they are living on the street means they become homeless, and become less protected. Furthermore, mental illness keeps thousands on the street. Homeless people who suffer from mental problems such as schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorder, and bipolar disorder are usually the worst
