Hopkinsville is a small town where schools and churches spin a web of contacts in which natives can find one another by tugging on the correct thread. The intimate nature between my school and the community provides me with worthy yet insular opportunities to volunteer, such as collecting for canned food drives, serving at school fundraisers, and working sports concessions. However, I prefer volunteer work that is continuous, serves the community at large, and satisfies my desire to learn and teach. Discovering such a position outside the well-worn paths was exacting. After searching through various community organizations, I found my solution in the Boys and Girls Club of Hopkinsville. There, I could satisfy my interest in teaching and serving my community, while pushing the edges of my comfort zone. In 9th grade, I began tutoring every Tuesday after school and this continued through 10th grade. During that time, I discovered that my students had a negative disposition towards science. Many saw science as "boring." I wanted to change that idea, to help them realize the wonders of science, to prove that science is fascinating and entertaining. The following summer, I prepared my proposal and pitched my ideas to Mr. Terrence Davis, Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Hopkinsville. …show more content…
The experiments would serve to prove that science is observable, understandable, and thrilling. After each exercise would be an explanation of the experiments' concept(s). Once I finished presenting my proposal, Mr. Davis folded his hands and peered at me from across the table. I held my breath. He unfolded his hands and turned the palms up. He grinned. He thought it was a great idea as it fit into the national Boys and Girls Club aim to implement a STEM program into local clubs. I was
At first I was not sure what I should put, but then when I starting thinking about it, it came pretty easily. However I did have a difficult time thinking about what I can’t change because I try not to focus on that.
This unit does not introduce much new material. Instead, we expect you to integrate technical and theoretical knowledge acquired from study across your degree. We refer to two frameworks that may support you in carrying out this integration:

When first brainstorming what topic I was going to pick for each annotated bibliography, it took me a while before I settled on a topic for each essay. While reflecting on my writing process, I came to the conclusion that more time would have definitely benefited my argument for each of these annotated bibliographies.
Reflecting on this course over this semester, there have been many lessons learned that will be valuable, as we enter the business world. Our first lesson was to learn to work together, as a team, to prepare a short memo, long memo, letter, and email for use in the business world. This is a lesson that will experience many times as we do our daily work. Punctuation and grammar are so important to present to the client and other organizations that we are professionals. It could mean the loss of a sale or acquiring new business. It’s like dressing for work; looking professional or unprofessional.
My desire was to challenge myself and pursue my belief in life-long learning. And yes, the last eight weeks have definitely been a challenge intellectually in IDS 101. After the first two weeks of school, I seriously questioned why I would go back to school at fifty-one years of age for personal satisfaction. The days were long and I wasn’t sure I still had the self-discipline and determination that would be needed to finish. Over the last eight weeks, this class gave me numerous opportunities to hone my skills in critical thinking, research, and writing. This class has given me the necessary skills to continue toward completing my degree.
As a STEM student in the Biomedical pathway I am constantly introduced to new forms of science every single day, which is certainly a privilege because as a STEM student I am exposed to new ways of learning which aren’t covered in a typical classroom setting. In fact, Science is my favorite subject because it’s a constantly evolving subject that is responsible for the fluidity of earths processes. Moreover, my interest to increase my knowledge base leads to my interest in the Science aspect of the Governor’s Honor Program.

I have been a part of this district since day one of kindergarten, and I wouldn't exchange the experiences, teachers, or the learning I've received for anything. To me William Penn School District has given me so much that it's really hard for me to say explain my story without having to put this district at the heart of it. Though It hasn't hit me yet, I'm leaving the district to go on a journey that's going tests the extent of the values that I've learned here. It's exciting I'm not going to lie but at the same time I think about the classes the hard nights that are up ahead. It can be a bit daunting, but I think what I gleaned from Penn Wood and its community will help me greatly in succeeding in my next four years.

I started doing my college research back in October, 2017 and it was quit overwhelming. It wasn't easy for me to know where to begin, but my college possible coach helped me through out the process and that made it easier. The first step that I did in doing my college research was, looking for the location of colleges, size, cost and academic programs. When it comes to colleges, the location is really important to me because I really just want to be near home and still be able to live with my mom as the same time. I understand that the surrounding area can have a huge impact on your happiness and how comfortable you would be, so staying close to home would make me happy. When it comes to the size, I prefer smaller college and smaller class
