In this day in age, the majority of the people on this planet use their smartphones for everything. Smartphones have become an essential part of our everyday lives; not only because of the variety of ways to communicate with each other, or the convenience of checking in on the most current events, but by the new video content that we entertain ourselves with. Video content has grown rapidly within the last two years. With more than half of the wireless traffic coming from smartphone use, which says a lot about much more people use their phone to stream video content. With that being said, Verizon has been testing out a new wireless innovative technological way to stream content efficiently with the help of LTE-B.
LTE-B technically stands for “LTE Evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (eMBMS), but from a marketing stand point, it can stand for either “LTE-broadcast” or “LTE-multicast”. Verizon has been trying to fully push this type of technology to its current US nationwide network for a while now. Which is projected to expand full force in 2017, due to its recent announced LTE-Broadcast Alliance. In order for LTE-B to reach a global scale and support every top-tier device, the alliance will consist of wireless networks like, Verizon, Telstra, KT, and EE. Now that this type of LTE-B global alliance is formed, this indicates that there is a greater amount of support for LTE-B expansion.
