Introduction Technology has revolutionized the realm of education through increasing the number of sources and methods of research (Cottrell, 2013). The accessibility of online-based research platforms has created an avenue for students to have ultimate desire to learn and eventually become qualified scholars. Research and more especially educational research open the heart and minds of students to greater inventions; hence, creating a better and accomplished society. Accessibility of information through online searches will not only create an excellent platform for research, but also increase the intrinsic motivation and desire for students to learn; hence, become ideal citizens. The aim of the essay is to help educators understand the implications Online Research Skills have on the classroom. Learning institutions have embarked on creating online facilities where students can access information through internet via the World Wide Web. The remote access in various parts of the globe makes it possible for students to study irrespective of their location and the geographical areas. However, guidance is paramount when students choose various sources of research found online. Some sources are credible while others may not meet the standards of Academia, and this explains why educators should provide adequate directions.
Considerations Necessary When Building Good Online Research According to Greenblatt (2012), online research has made studies effortless for many leaners.
Technology in the school has become an increasingly challenging and somewhat disruptive aspect in today’s educational system. In order to maintain what is considered the status quo, schools have focused their energy and resources on banning cell phones, wireless Internet and blocking social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter in schools. However, as technology continues to grow in our society outside of the school, many believe that effectively involving these technologies into the classroom can ultimately improve student engagement in their learning environments. This research paper will focus on both sides of the argument and ultimately seek to determine if there is a best practice regarding technological being put into schools.
In the article “Technology Changing how students learn, Teachers Say” many different surveys and experiments were constructed to see what the response were toward technology changing the way we think. As stated “roughly 75 percent of 2,462 teachers surveyed said that the Internet and search engines had a “mostly positive” impact on student research skills” (Richtel). This means that majority of the teacher do agree that the internet is making a positive effect on the children. Using technology in the educational field is a different approach on how the student my able to learn or grasp the whole content of that topic or subject. The internet doesn’t only help out with the student learning but it is already help the teacher. Through the internet they can exam the progress of class by averaging out the online homework or test that may be given out to the class.
1. Get the students’ motivated about the internet- research showed that students do use the internet but they need skills of internet know-how in order to be successful with research
Learning online is a unique experience and it has provided myself as a learner with a new and extensive learning environment. Prior to beginning my academic studies at Swinburne University, I had previously study a number of units online through another institute, so when arriving here I had an idea of what online learning entailed. Prior to beginning my academic studies, and in particular, I had previously read a myriad of sources online, and although I considered that I was able to determine what was fact or fiction, I had never realised how important it was for information to be evaluated. In the study conducted by
Since its conception, technology has brought about change in life and more importantly the education of students in the classroom. Technology in the public education system has been a heated debate for many years. The main problem is not whether or not technology can help teach students in the modern classroom, but rather how teachers and students alike use that technology to further the learning process in the classroom. The balance of technology and how to best incorporate that technology is the issue facing classrooms today. There are many best practices and ways ahead regarding the use of technology in the classroom that relate to teachers and standards, curriculum/ instruction, diversity and inclusion, bilingual/ ELL and special education. All these current issues facing the future of education play a part in how to best use technology in the classroom.
What does having a career in education mean? What does being a teacher who will always impact the students’ lives that she comes in contact with mean? Going into the education field, one has to have a lot of tricks up their sleeve to keep students involved and engaged. Tricks such as animated voices, interesting books, and fun online games. For example, in classes today teachers by themselves will only have a child 's attention for all of 10 minutes before they get bored or want to do the next activity. However, with the new additions to the traditional classrooms, (technology) children are enjoying learning much more.

Technology has revolutionized the human experience by changing the way one learns. Technology can best be defined as a tool that supports and promotes human learning. This can be seen through the usage of calculators, tablets (example: iPad), Smart Boards, video cameras, and, of course, the computer. These are all innovations that can have a profound impact on classroom learning. Although there are some schools that have a strict policy that technology should be removed from the modern day classroom, other schools believe that integrating technology into the classroom helps prepare our students for the elaborate world they will face going forward. Throughout this essay, I will be focusing on the technology policy and how it has a positive
The education system around the world has progressed and changed in a plentiful amount of ways, and the concept of knowledge and learning has changed in modern day. For example, certain schools around the globe are moving on to implementing technology in classrooms because it provides many benefits and statistical research that states how students are improving their academic readiness because of the instant access to information, a greater engagement and interactive process in learning, and the personalization that instructors can do towards the educational experience that students receive. The benefits of technology in class can be rather debatable, for there are people who think it's a distraction, but it certainly seems to be beneficial according to the increase of passing percentages in schools.
As a current online student, having to conduct research on a given topic is always excited. It is a strong, and sufficient way to be an active participant in the learning community, and a great way to get involved in one’s own studies. Being an online student is a very different situation from being a face-to-face student.
Many aspects of modern schooling, such as front of the class teaching, the bell, registers and year groupings, would still be recognisable to Victorian educators (Robinson, 2010; Howson, 2006). Nevertheless, it can be argued that teaching has undergone significant changes within the last decade, with technological advancements gaining ever greater prominence within the classroom (Selwyn, 2011). Technology has not only transformed the way we approach teaching but has also influenced the ways in which children learn (Halverson and Smith, 2009). In order to meet the technological needs of today’s children, teacher training has evolved to incorporate additional computing skills and knowledge (Fisher, 2000; Selwyn, 2011). Furthermore, Michael Gove (Gove, 2014), acknowledged these advancements in technology, replacing the previously ICT based computing program (DfE, 2007) with the current computer science based curriculum (DfE, 2013).
On a daily basis, both businesses and individuals rely on technology. It cannot be denied that technology has become part of our everyday life. As individuals, we all depend on technology, either for education, health purposes, transportation, communication, romantic relationships, and/or business growth . It is impossible to explore how each advancement in technology has impacted our lives as well as how it will impact the future, but we can briefly explore the major advancements. Technology impacts the environment, people individually, and the society as a whole.
Education has undergone significant changes because of the development of information and communication technology over the 21st century (Lin & Jou, 2012:2). As a convenient and inexpensive way to gain knowledge while pursuing higher education, online learning, a form of training or teaching that takes place over the Internet, has been considered as an alternative to traditional classroom learning (Zhang et al, 2004). This essay will argue that even though online learning has benefit such as flexibility which could outweigh traditional learning, traditional classroom learning might still not be entirely replaced. This essay will discuss positive and negative aspects of online and traditional learning in terms of four criteria:
John Dewey, a leader for the progressive movement in education in the United States once said, “If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow.”
Technology has become an educational tool in schools and at home in the past ten years. There are a variety of educational websites out there to support students from a young age as young as three and up the age of college students. Web sites could be used in a classroom under the supervision of a teacher or at home under the monitoring of a parent. Web sites at a young age could help teach a child an essential skill and let them practice it that skill in an interactive way. Web sites in the younger grades can contribute to making learning fun and interactive while teaching them how to use the computer or an iPad properly. However, it is important for a teacher or parent to review a website first to make sure the content is appropriate for
