1- Write one paragraph to briefly summarize your work or personal reflection experience. I remember on my patient ML, she was 32 years old. She had acute myeloid leukemia, statues post stem cell transplant. Her stem cell transplant failed after 2 years of remission. She was on palliative care. She was just getting symptom management care, she would come to our infusion for blood transfusion. Every time she came she was writing journals for her seven year old son. It was supposed to be a gift for him when she gets older. After talking to her for few weeks I found out what she wanted to writing in the journal she was writing encouraging notes for him. She wanted to her son Jack to know she really did not give up on her life or him, After few weeks I advised her to bring her son with her for blood transfusion because I thought he would remember the time he spend with her more than a card or journal. …show more content…
I saved a quite area for them, because I knew ML did not have lot of time left. ML and Jack made cards, draw, and painted for about 4 hours. They had lot of fun, I make sure I spend time with Jack and ML to explain everything in infusion. I answered all jack had about the infusion question. One week later I got a call from ML’s husband to tell me that ML passed away. When he called he thanked me for the encouraging them to bring jack to infusion. 2- Return to your responses to the Week 1 Introductions Discussion Board (What do you want to learn from this course? It was near the end of winter 2005, when my grand-aunt suddenly fell ill. In a short period of time her illness worsened and the doctors informed my family, my grand-aunt only had a couple of months to live. The news was devastating to my family as we watched a vivacious, independent, and outspoken woman, who enjoyed shopping, reading mystery novels and spending time with family become very weak and confined to her bed. Instead of placing my grand-aunt in a hospice facility, my family and I, with the assistance of a hospice nurse cared for my grand-aunt in her home until her passing.
Your written answers to the questions below are to be available to be sighted by your lecturer (not submitted to the School Office) at the start of the tutorial session. To be recorded as attending the tutorial requires that the lecturer deems that the worksheet has been satisfactorily attempted.

Leukemia is “a malignant progressive disease in which the bone marrow and other blood-forming organs produce increased numbers of immature or abnormal leukocytes. These suppress the production of normal blood cells, leading to anemia and other symptoms.”An estimated combined total of 162,020 people in the U.S. are expected to be diagnosed with leukemia, 60,192 people die, 14% live in remission and my father is just another statistic. When I was nine years old, my father was diagnosed with Leukemia, an illness that at the time I did not understand. This left my mother raising two kids and working two jobs to make ends meet. Throughout this time of never ending hospital visits, I experienced the kindness and care provided to us by my father’s doctors - something that until this day I will never forget.
