1. What 2 things have worked well for your learning in this course – you can include anything that you feel helped you to learn or to understand the material. Give specific details and examples. If you would like to include more than two that would be just fine.
a. The first and most prominent thing that has worked well for me in this course was getting 2 attempts for every quiz and test. You told me that you believe in mastery learning and so do I. Learning from your mistakes brings an entirely new level of understanding. Also, if I do worse than expected on the first attempt I’m not stuck with a bad mark that I’m not satisfied with
b. The second thing is that I absolutely loved working at my own pace and being in control of the course.

What one thing did you do well as an online learner? (Include things that helped you to succeed as an online learner.) If you like you can include more than one thing.
a. The one thing that I did well as an online learner was my time management and focus when working. When I was working on course work I was focus and I managed to cut out distractions. Referring back to my Reflection on Learning from unit 2, my go with the flow with… I’m not a planning person but I know how to manage my time.
b. Another thing that I did well was asking questions. I didn’t ask a ton of questions but I always asked when I wasn’t clear on something and this helped me a lot. For example, on the unit 2 assignment if I hadn’t asked about the format my essay would have been completely incorrect. After asking for clarity I was extremely satisfied with my end product and it was the correct

Above all I really would have liked a paper copy of the textbook. I have extreme discontent for all electronic books. I could never read a book on a kobo or a pdf. I don’t know the exact reason why but it’s really hard for me to focus when reading lots of material off a screen. When I registered for the course it said on the form that there was an option for a hardcopy for an extra fee however when I asked in person they said it wasn’t available.
b. The second thing I would liked to have seen done differently would be to have less pdf lessons and more auditory and interactive lessons. There were some lessons that had links and audio but the majority of them didn’t work. Sometimes when I’m reading a lot of new information at once (especially on a computer) I can just be reading words and not actually learning anything at all. Because of this I had to go back and read lessons multiple times (especially in unit 2).
4. What one thing could you have improved upon to be a better online learner and succeed better in the online learning environment?
a. To further my understanding in this course I could have done the journals and activities that weren’t for marks. Those activities are there for a reason and I could have gotten more out of the course if I took the time to do some of them. I did one journal (about patriotism) and it helped me come to terms with my perspective and
The first thing I want to talk about is the assignments that I have had in the class. During this course we are given assignments to post onto the discussion board, which I believe is excellent, because this allows you to see how the students around you approach the situation. This does not necessarily mean they look at others work in order to copy, but instead it gives students who might not be able to comprehend as easily, a chance to be given examples by their own peers. It also gives great comfort that the teacher of this course does not for little effort, but she takes the time to read over it and give her correction so that the students can apply with the future assignments to come. Our first assignment that was given to us was a mere introduction about who we were, what we do, and what our plans were for the future. This, to me, was a sign that let me know
Online education is well established as a viable means of education in both the corporate and academic environments, and it has taken a remarkable pace. A survey undertaken in 2001 of online education instructors conducted by the National Education Association (NEA) indicated that 72% of online learning instructors have a positive opinion about online learning. They believe more students can be reached, learning can be customized and flexible, and interaction can increase among students (Focus, 2001).
With all the things that have helped me in this course and all the things that I have learned in this course, there are things that were brought to my awareness that I needed to improve on for instance, procrastination. I find
2. Discuss how this course has affected you in your professional development as a student and as a person as well as encouraging you on your academic path.
Effective features of online learning students include internal locus control, self-directedness, learning styles, motivation, and other character traits. Research displays that the adult learners enrolled in online programs tend to have strong internal locus control than that of students in traditional in-residence learning programs. Furthermore, online learning adult learners are self-directed, and are driven by personal interests and desire to succeed. Most studies indicate that online learners tend to be highly motivated in the pursuit of their courses (Barnett, 2010). They face learning from a visionary perspective, knowing that their efforts will reap fruits of their labor.
2. Considering what you have learned throughout this course, what were the strengths and weaknesses of your original proposal? (2 paragraphs)
c. I do not think I may be a good leader. I did not have as many ideas as my friends.
understanding is coming to light for the Online Educator. The following 5 points are a good place to
Another important part of this course I found very helpful was learning to unpack standards. Many of the learning standards implemented in my classroom are full of material that I find difficult to manage. By unpacking these standards, I am now able to focus more specifically on certain objectives and
exploring the perceptions of experienced and novice online learners. Centered on the idea that students who have taken several courses would have different perceptions than those students who had only taken a couple of online courses. More than three thousand online learners participated in a survey regarding student success, developed from the Quality Matters rubric. The results suggest a difference in student perceptions based on their limited or greater levels of experience in the online environment. Students with little experience focused on different expectations than experienced online students. And vice versa, experienced learners had factors associated with online learning that were more important to them. Experienced learners
Introduction: Reflection on Self as a Learner–How would you describe yourself as a learner, prior to this semester? What factors about you or your learning environment have contributed to your development as a learner?
One of the chief drawing cards for me that draw me to take online classes was the ability to ask questions and interact in learning with the teacher without fear of classmate making fun of me because of my speech pattern or being shy asking question. I can ask and obtain the solution right away without facing the teacher. In addition, I have the ability to go rearward to a lecture and review it several times online and this is really helpful because my difficulty some time understanding what is being said since the English is my second language.
I learned so much from the reading information that was given to us over the span this course. Everything that I received is so wonderful and exciting, but because of the mass information, I did feel a little overwhelmed. All of the information on mini lessons and guided reading was so valuable because I did not know much about it, but this course and the information provided really simplified it for me. I also really appreciate the information on the reading strategies, particularly the first paper on strategies that work, because again, it simplifies the concepts for me. That combined with the 12 systems of strategic action sheet are wonderful tools that taught me so much about strategies. In all honesty, I learned a lot in this
Firstly, to talk about why I have taken this course and how this course have transformed me by the end of the course is incredible and amazing. To be frank when I was taking this course the only expectation for me on this course is to learn how to interact with people because I am poor on it. But what this course has provided me is great and it has transformed me into an enter new person all together. Right from the beginning of the course the materials and handouts that were provided were intuitive and all of them makes the student get involved in the concepts.
