1. How does your academic record reflect your strengths and weaknesses for graduate study?
When I went to a Theology, I wanted to be a Biblical Scholar because I was going to study Biblical Languages but when the time was passed by, it was a tough subject for me so I had to spend more time practicing in writing of both languages. I struggled for a while of learning Greek and Hebrew. However, I could attempt them all as possible as to achieve my aim. Fortunately I am very good in memorizing the alphabets of the languages; it is really helpful in doing exegesis and translating the bible.
I really enjoyed of doing assignments and paper presentations with friends, discussing on the given topics and arguing each other whether the paper was informative
We live in a dynamic time when staying focused and on top of things are the tools to excel and guarantee success in both professional and personal arenas. Pursuing a graduate study and improving communication skills are a few of many ways I chose to guarantee my personal and professional success. It wasn’t easy taking the decision to pursue a graduate study, and like all major decisions in one’s life, it comes with challenges, which were of an emotional, financial, and organizational nature in my case. To facilitate success, setting goals is most commonly seen as the way forward. In addition to discussing setting goals and milestones, I will be exposing the challenges met in the road to success and the related strategies to overcome them
It was a delightful feeling to converse with many of my fellow students that share the same passion as myself.
looked forward to the most, and my business projects and presentations were the most challenging
a very small building. I was shock and out of my element went I stared
Second, the subjects were fun. Language arts were fun because we got to write mystery stories and read a ghost story called “Time for Andrew”.
I met my friend Jenna in science and we worked on our atmosphere song. Writing my Mars essay took a lot of time and effort. Sewing our footballs was difficult. Typing our fairytales was exciting and fun. Performing our plays and going to Yummies was amazing and was a totally new and exciting experience.
Creative Writing was one of my favorite classes. I got to work at my own pace and be as creative as I wanted with my stories/projects. More often than not, though, I ran out of ‘good’ ideas and had to make due with a half idea. Even though I thought I was a decent writer, throughout the semester I learned I still had a lot to learn about writing. Completing the daily blog posts really helped with my creativity and imagination because I was forced to think outside of the box every day and come up with something interesting to write about. I will admit, there were times when I just wanted to give up on doing all the blog posts and accept the C+ for the week, but my inner critic wouldn’t have it.
I've learned alot about writing. For example on how to write an essay according to the appropriate audience and how to think like a writer would.
Learning: I love to learn about new things… (but only if we didn’t have to wake up at 5:30 to get to school, we didn’t have to go to school on fridays and we didn’t have as much homework…so, ya kinda)
I got to research and share with people something that I'm passionate about and enjoy.
Reflecting on this week’s discussion topic, I considered the areas where I believe I will be successful as a graduate student. The first area that I believe I will be successful is my commitment and dedication to my studies in pursuit of a graduate degree. At 49 years old, I understood the commitment level required to pursue a graduate degree while also maintaining a full-time job and military obligations. I committed. I have dedicated time and resources to achieve that goal. Another area that I will be successful in is the areas of discipline and flexibility. Discipline to follow my time management plan to balance all my obligations, and flexibility to adjust to unforeseen events throughout my studies. Additionally, ensuring that I
life, allowing me to meet new people who have similar interests and developing my knowledge
I also love doing research, I just finished my isearch and I had so much fun finding someone to interview and arranging a meeting with him. Also the idea of me writing something on a newspaper that has existed since 1912 and the whole school reading it makes me so excited.
Applying to this program has consumed my heart, mind and soul for a while and I hoped for no weaknesses or faults of my own to decrease my chances of acceptance. Needless to say, I was most disappointed to discover that my combined GRE score of 303 was two points shy of your average score of 305. Though my overall score (particularly my quantitative score) is disappointing, it is not surprising given my lack of recent practice with certain math concepts (i.e. geometry), especially in comparison to my verbal and writing skills, which I consider to be growing strengths in my ongoing academic development, and are put to daily use as a higher education practitioner.
This essay aims to critically review my strengths and weakness in relation to my personal development over my second year at university. The main points of focus will be selling myself to an employer, gaining work experience, applying to vacation schemes, and adapting my CV.
