I have seen my grandmothers get pushed into the emergency rooms and I thought they were not going
Courses I have taken that are relevant to my career interests are biology, chemistry, Principles of Biomedical Science, Human Body Systems, Medical Interventions, advanced genetics and applied biotechnology, and physiology. Biology and chemistry have provided me with a basic science background that is essential to understanding more advanced science courses. Human Body Systems and physiology have helped me to learn basic anatomy and physiology through hands-on activities like constructing organ systems out of clay and dissecting a cat. In addition, I learned how basic biomedical science knowledge and research methods in Principles of Biomedical Science and continued this
I have always had an interest in the human body and animal anatomy. I've studied it on my own with coloring books, online programs and thru home dissection kits. Medicine the field that fulfills me and gives me the strength to continue my education and future goals despite the many obstacles. I am a third year and a certified medical assistant who is majoring in Spanish literature and human biology with aspirations to become a surgeon in the future. I found joy and self-satisfaction in helping others after having spent many years in the hospital taking care of my mother. After taking AP Chemistry, I knew that I wanted to study chemistry in college. I also have been a very inquisitive person my whole life, wondering why things are and how things worked. My inquisitive nature and love of chemistry is why chemical engineering appeals to me. I am drawn to Biomedical engineering due to its application of both chemistry and biology to solve medical problems. Doing a complete 360, I am interested in art history, because not only do I find art fascinating, but I also find it mesmerizing how artists visually represent and were inspired by the world around them.
