I’m a visual learner and I’m going to tell you about that. I need to view what I need to do before I do it. I want an example of what I’m supposed to be in charge of before I do it. I want to physically look at what to do before I even try it. Viewing a person do what I’m trying to help me. I also learn by doing physical stuff. I enjoy talking with my hand gestures and I’m also active. I enjoy doing physical activities that help my concentration. I also do have difficulty sitting still. Moving around helps. Taking breaks also helps my concentration. If I decide to break, it gives my brain time to refresh and stress less. Alaina’s not totally creative I usually do something that I have done or that another person has done. I’m also not a spectacular drawer and I don’t enjoy drawing. It’s not a hobby of mine. I enjoy being outdoors and play sports and that helps Alaina learn. I play outside with friends whenever I can, I play soccer, basketball, gymnastics or any sort of sports as much as I possibly can. I need to move around which is probably not that amazing for the teachers, but it helps my learning so I try to move whenever I can.
I’m Blue and don’t adjust often and I 'm typical which I’m going to discuss with you. I never branch out of my comfort zone, I also do that same Alaina stuff. Doing stuff that I don’t do scares Alaina so I just don’t do it, but I wish that I would do stuff that I don’t do. If I could do what I don’t do maybe the teachers wouldn’t give Alaina
As I was growing up, my parents would make me practice over and over again a certain material I would be struggling with in school or anything they thought I needed to improve on. They would always tell me that practice improves, they are strong believers that we (or at least me) learn best by practicing and doing. Therefore, I have learned that I personally gain better knowledge of concepts or a specific thing by practicing it. I also, consider myself an auditory learner. Seeing stuff clears my thoughts and directly seeing it really helps organize my mind. I specifically like when stuff have a representation that I specifically see and gain knowledge from. I consider myself a strong visual learner rather than auditory because
In preparation for an exam or in class assignment, studying consists of me to completing a series of math problems over and over and/or reading material multiple times. While completing assignments and test I can often close my eyes and visualize information on a page without it being directly in front of me. Notes are often color coded and or written in colored pen. As a visual learner it will be
Ashley, I am A visual learner who strengths are memorizing information from my INFT124 course and it allows me to quickly remember simple and complex facts that relate to my course assignments. In addition to this, these activities also help me know what topics to research for my discussions with my classmates and it helps me understand how to complete my weekly assignments in an correct way. Finally, my visual learning style helps me learn how to write organized informative notes on important educational and business issues in this
I have two learning styles that tied. It would be thinking and watching. I knew I was a visual learner but found more about myself that I have imagined. I learned that I like to think while learning and analyzing what is being taught. I am very much a visual learner, when I am in a classroom setting I need to see what we are doing not just a lecture. When its just a lecture my mind wanders and I do not get what was being taught. I only wished more instructors/teachers taught visually. I know this is a weakness of mine so I am going to work on this the best to my ability. This was a very awesome assignment to do I think it helps me understand myself better and I can also, understand others as well better.
Hi everyone! My name is Briana and I am an all around learner. I am mostly a Kinesthetic Learner, but also I can learn visually. I am also an auditory learner as long as what I am hearing interests me. Since I was younger, when I had to sit in class against my own will, I always learned better one on one or by doing things myself. If you show me once and let me do it my myself the next time I usually can get it down very quickly. I’ve never been good with lectures, the information hitting my face like water from a water hose is overwhelming and I usually never remember any of it. This always made me angry because that meant I always had to rewrite everything multiple times until it was tattooed in my brain.
Visual learners need to spot things with there eyes and need a visual representation. In the Edutopia website it says that when you study you want to have a picture next to your notes to help you study and to spot what the words mean in a picture. Also, in the edutopia website it says that you can use an art project to present to the class. Visual learners are very fantastic at art and have an art brain. This would help them because they would have a piece to present to the class. Finally, these are some strategies that are related to a visual learner.
When doing a task I need to know what is expected of me. I don’t like going into the unknown. I need to have a clear explanation so I can organize my steps in order to complete the task. I always have to have a plan without a plan I’m stuck, so having one helps me process and fully understand the information that I am retrieving and make completing the task easy and smooth going. Also, having the sense of accomplishment and I can cross the task of my to-do list. At work, I always go and check the books and see if the manager left me any notes on what I’m supposed to do for that day and I write them down and start on my task(s) until a customer comes needing assistance.
When I was young, learning new things was a delight. I remember one teacher in particular who used a flannel board with pictures when she told us a story. To this day, more than 50 years later, I can still see those pictures and remember the story she told. That simple remembrance indicates to me that I am a visual learner. Perhaps that is why I am hopeless when given a direction to go north on a particular route. Spatial directions mean nothing to me. A better way to navigate is to look for landmarks such as a store, or service station, or even a billboard sign. I need to see something I recognize to help me navigate. The same is true when I am learning something new. I need to mark up a text to learn from it. Videos and demonstration, are more helpful to me, than a lecture. McGrath (2009) notes that there may be similarities between adults and children in how they learn, but adult learners need to know why they are learning new knowledge before they are willing to participate. When I can see a reason for learning something, I am more invested in the outcome of the process. For example, learning how a combustion engine
Sonya, I am a visual and kinesthetic learner, which means that I have to see something done and then physically do it with my hands to fully understand the concept. In high school, I had trouble reading something off of the computer and being able to remember it. But if I had actual copy of a textbook in my hand, I was able to pick up and remember the information quickly and easily. It is so cool that we have a few of the same learning styles.
I am going to tell you how organization is a big way that visual learners do well in school. This skill can be helpful to anyone that commits to it. I researched how organization helps visual learners. My result is that visual learners use organization very well. In my conclusion organization not only helps visual learners, it can help every single person in this world. I think that the world would be a whole lot different if people were not organized. The world would be really messy and people would not know what to do. If everyone was organized everything would be cleaner and more safe.
To begin, I grouped the students by their learning preference, and found the students that were grouped together interesting. To begin the discussion, I clarified what each of the learning preference meant so that students would have a clear understanding. For the most part, students agreed with their learner classification; however, they admitted when taking the quiz they were mostly thinking about English Language Arts or Math. Unfortunately, Language Arts and Math is where most of our instructional time is spent. Our Social Studies curriculum is taught across the curriculum with Language Arts. In the end, we discussed that generally speaking the responses they answered held true to all subject matter.
Now that I know I am a visual learner, I can be a better student. I can do better in school, because I know how I should do things. To start, I need to utilize flashcards, which I already do. Using flashcards helps me visualize what I need to know and helps me understand it. Additionally, advice from the learning styles assessment would be to write down ideas, key words, and directions so I can see it visually. Visually seeing these will help me understand it. Furthermore, I can study in quiet places so I don't get distracted because I need to stay focused. Staying focused helps me have higher quality work. Since I am a visual learner, I can do things that help me. All in all, with all of these things, I can become a better learner.
As an artist, I am indeed a visual and kinesthetic learner, which mean I learn more efficiently through intrapersonal, visual spatial and bodily-kinesthetic spatial intelligence. I understand and pick up information well by listening to lectures, tutorials and demonstrations and even better with images, graphs, diagram, authentic materials and things that I can feel with my hands. Even though I am not a fan of public speaking, but also found myself comfortable with presentations that involve talking about my ideas and opinions. I also found myself not much of reading and writing learner (even though they are helpful) and using logical mathematical intelligent seems to slow me down and considered as one of my learning weaknesses. However, I also aware that those weaknesses can be improved through learning from peers during group activities.
These are coupled with follow up activities that including additional visual stimuli, technology interaction, or a tactile task to further enhance the lesson. Notable, Özel remarks that learned acquisition habits that are systematically taught and shaped with strategic implements can improve student learning (2009). Thus, my additional activities will be more fulfilling to the auditory learning who acquires substance during discussion or talks, as well as the tactile learner who likes manipulation and construction (Kozielska & Seibold, 2011). In additional, visual learning will gain through manipulative activities too for their attention to drawing outlines and note taking (Kozielska & Seibold,
The results from both the Felder & Soloman and Penn State inventories were correct. I agree that I am a moderate active learner due to the fact that I like to discuss and apply the information I am learning; however I disagree because I rather work alone, being a reflective learner, versus working in a large group. As an active learner, during several of my college courses I have found it very difficult to pay attention during lectures and have found myself day dreaming through many of them. I also agree with the results stating that I am a visual learner versus a verbal learner. Ever since I can recall I have always find myself paying more attention and finding learning much easier and appealing when presented with a visual pictures. When pictures, diagrams, and timelines aren’t available I find myself making some type of visual representation with the information provided so I can provide my brain a visual aid in processing
