Now that I know I am a visual learner, I can be a better student. I can do better in school, because I know how I should do things. To start, I need to utilize flashcards, which I already do. Using flashcards helps me visualize what I need to know and helps me understand it. Additionally, advice from the learning styles assessment would be to write down ideas, key words, and directions so I can see it visually. Visually seeing these will help me understand it. Furthermore, I can study in quiet places so I don't get distracted because I need to stay focused. Staying focused helps me have higher quality work. Since I am a visual learner, I can do things that help me. All in all, with all of these things, I can become a better learner.
According to my learning style assessment, it says, that I am a visual learner. I agree with this assessment because I am a person who likes to study alone rather than study in group, and see things face to face. But, I also like to do group projects, I am outgoing and not have trouble with spoken directions, like it says visual learners have. A visual learner likes to learn by using poster, worksheets and flashcards. They also are distracted by sounds and will have trouble following lectures for more than 10 to 15 minutes. Three strategies I will use to help enhance/ improve my learning style are; “Taking classes that offer more lecture-based learning than written study materials, record your notes verbally and play them back to learn them
In the learning styles test, it resulted that I am a visual learner. I believe that this is true because I would rather to see a demonstration of what I am supposed to do so I can be able to do it by myself later on. It is effective for me when I am studying because I can remember what I saw as opposed to what I heard. Also, I get distracted easily therefore if a class session tends to be long and only involves discussions and talking, I tend to space out a lot. The results says that visual learners should always be sure to look at the study materials and make use of flash cards, which I tend to do all the time. In the value assessment section, I did the Rokeach Value Survey and this was a great one. It helped to prioritize terminal and instrumental
As for my Visual Analysis Task, I have chosen to write about this image on the left. This piece was recently created by Shepard Fairey a street artist. This was made in response to the election of Donald Trump- known as the President of the United States. ‘We the People’ features portraits of Native Americans, African Americas, Muslims, and Latinas portrays in Fairey’s trademark style with slogans such as “Women are Perfect” and “Defend Dignity”.
In this portion of Sanders’s Becoming a Learner, he describes the outcomes of becoming a learner. Sanders states four outcomes of becoming a learner: creativity, critical thinking, communication skills, and better character. I consider both communication skills and depth of character to be of equal importance, but for the sake of this journal, I believe the development of communication skills is most important and will have a critical impact on my career and my life. First off, let me state that I would like to pursue a career in editing, and to have any business at all, I will need to have good communication skills so I can form a trusting relationship with my clients, otherwise they may take their business elsewhere. More importantly, I intend to become a wife and a mother, and strong relationships are
Secondly, the teacher gave us a test for my learning style. The results show, my learning style is visual. I was not surprising in the result because I know myself very well. I love to watch the video and we read books to help me on study. There are unique characteristics of Visual personality As Spanella T (for studay.com
Ashley, I am A visual learner who strengths are memorizing information from my INFT124 course and it allows me to quickly remember simple and complex facts that relate to my course assignments. In addition to this, these activities also help me know what topics to research for my discussions with my classmates and it helps me understand how to complete my weekly assignments in an correct way. Finally, my visual learning style helps me learn how to write organized informative notes on important educational and business issues in this
I have two learning styles that tied. It would be thinking and watching. I knew I was a visual learner but found more about myself that I have imagined. I learned that I like to think while learning and analyzing what is being taught. I am very much a visual learner, when I am in a classroom setting I need to see what we are doing not just a lecture. When its just a lecture my mind wanders and I do not get what was being taught. I only wished more instructors/teachers taught visually. I know this is a weakness of mine so I am going to work on this the best to my ability. This was a very awesome assignment to do I think it helps me understand myself better and I can also, understand others as well better.
I learn best by actually finding something interesting or fun to learn about. I do not really learn by writing things down because sometimes you write something down and it is way more different than the real subject. Listening does not not help me learn also because I daydream a lot and then I do not pay attention to what is being read. Looking at pictures does a bit of the job because it helps you see things and then you will memorize them. Looking at pictures is a better way for me to learn because it is more easier to just see the pictures memorize them and then just go along with the next things. Writing things also helps me learn a bit more by just having at least relocatable notes that will help you with something later on. Sometimes I work fast and slow in my classes, it sometimes depends on how I am feeling because if I am feeling down then I do not feel like doing no work at all and if I am feeling energetic or happy i do my work and i do it very well.
When I was young, learning new things was a delight. I remember one teacher in particular who used a flannel board with pictures when she told us a story. To this day, more than 50 years later, I can still see those pictures and remember the story she told. That simple remembrance indicates to me that I am a visual learner. Perhaps that is why I am hopeless when given a direction to go north on a particular route. Spatial directions mean nothing to me. A better way to navigate is to look for landmarks such as a store, or service station, or even a billboard sign. I need to see something I recognize to help me navigate. The same is true when I am learning something new. I need to mark up a text to learn from it. Videos and demonstration, are more helpful to me, than a lecture. McGrath (2009) notes that there may be similarities between adults and children in how they learn, but adult learners need to know why they are learning new knowledge before they are willing to participate. When I can see a reason for learning something, I am more invested in the outcome of the process. For example, learning how a combustion engine
The first chapter of Becoming a Learner had scared me honestly. We are going to school to further our education and some job titles don't even want what you had specialized in college. It scared me because I came to college to find a good job when I am done with and if doesn't all work out in the end you will be with no job and in college debt. You need skills to make someone want to hire which scares me because I sometimes lack of skills. “ The primary purpose of college isn't learning a specific set of professional skills; the primary purpose of college is to become a learner” most college students don't know where they are going yet or know what to study so they should take advantage of learning outside of the box the more you learn during
As an upcoming junior, I've had some time to reflect back on what my first year of college taught me. You definitely learn a lot of things during your freshman year, but here are the 9 most important things that I learned!
In the first journal entry it was revealed that I am a visual learner, thus in order to further improve the quality of my learning abilities new strategies have been established. As a result, I include illustrations in some of my notes, pay attention to body language, utilize flashcards while reviewing information and make sure to study where there are no distractions. It is for this reason that I have been able to understand most of the lectures and recitation packets without any issues. However, there is still room for improvement, as I still require a visual aid in order to fully understand a concept, thus I plan on paying special attention to graphs, charts, and diagrams during class. In addition to this, over the years I have learned that
The results that I received after taking What’s Your Learning Style stated that I’m a visual learning. After seeing the result, I now know how I learn best. As stated on results that I have to picture things in my head and look, and write things done to get the understanding of what I am working on. There are many things that I can do to learn better is make sure that I have more time in doing my homework, because being a visual learning I have to picture, write important things to make sure that I can remember them. I already try to color code things especially when I’m at work because I need to be very organize. What I can add to the suggestions is that the more that I write then the more that I will remember, because I know that I have to
I know that I am a Visual Learner, and everything I learn is through what I see. I learned that I am able to learn through different teaching styles and still learn the necessary information that is being given. Most people can relate to being a visual learner as it helps to see the information and retain it as well. Another type of common learning style is bodily kinesthetic which I feel I also learn well from as well.
The main characteristics of a visual learner are that they remember what they see, instead of what they hear. They also prefer diagrams, pictures and to read and write rather than listening. This learner is usually good at spelling, but forgets names, and needs to study in quite. Also, they would tune out when they try to pay attention and they would need an overall new and purpose beginning a project.
