My major is kinesiology but I am very interested in taking communication classes as my electives. I believe that the more you understand people and how they communicate, the better I will be at any job or life interaction that happens down the road. After college I plan to enroll in the military and go directly into officer candidate school to become an officer. My communication skills will be vital upon exciting that program and having to be the designated leader of men who will have much more experience than myself. After that I plan to enroll in Army Ranger Special Forces School and complete that program becoming a highly trained combatant in the process. While is Ranger School I will be asked to choose an area of specialization, mine will be a 68D or medic. Yet again my communication skills with be important, they will mean the difference between life and death. Then I plan to be an Army Ranger and fight the United States’ fights all over the world against small combatant groups, again communication will be the difference in life and death. Once I have had enough of that I plan to enroll in a specialized program in San Antonio where I will attend medical school and graduate in a year and a half of what would take a normal student four years. Communication will be important again because in school how you communicate with your professor’s and other students effect how well your understanding of the subject is. Once completing this program I want to be a Physician’s
I am currently a senior at Santa Ana Valley High School. I am planning to further my education and obtain a degree. I am certain I want to be in the medical field; I have in the medical academy for three years here at Valley and I’ve never experienced anything more amazing. Most of my classes were honor classes and a couple were AP, Advanced Placement, throughout my high school years.
There was no specific answer from her what I should take, because there really is not much at a high school level that can prepare me for my major. At that point, I was more questioning the high school, and why I needed certain classes that I did not need for this type of field. I began to find some things that may be close to helping me in college with my major such as Project Lead the way classes, they had a kinesiology class my junior year, and medical terminology. I began to be in Project Lead the Way classes, because those were the classes that were not in the medical charter school that I was able to learn about different medical professions, learn basic anatomy, some diseases, and some basic information about other health professions that I ended up finding helpful in my profession that I wanted to pursue. Kinesiology was a good class in the fact the Kinesiology is the study of the bodies movement, so I thought that would be beneficial. At my hometown state college, athletic trainer is a pre- with a major in Kinesiology, so I figured it was a good base class to start with. Throughout high school I also did not take the full class of medical terminology for college credit, but I took intro to medical terminology. Which was prefixes and suffixes of medical terminology, and I found out this year that I do need to take it for my Athletic Training major, so I am glad that I ended up taking the pre medical terminology, so when I take it, it should be a little bit easier since I already have a background on it already. Thinking back about extra classes that do not obtain to major specifics, not only broadens our minds, but gives us more connections to people and other experiences that can make us even show, support, and care more than what we thought we would have ever cared about towards
In the future I plan to pursue a career in medicine, more specifically an ultrasound technician. Although English isn’t a subject that is often associated with medicine I believe there are many ways that it will help me in many ways in my career. Before I can even complete an ultrasound degree I will have to write many essays, with the skills I learned in English class. To prepare for tests I will often have to read books filled with information. Once I get a job in the field there will often be times when I have to record information from appointments. At times I will have to send emails to people regarding their diagnosis. Ultrasound technicians don’t seem to do much public speaking but they still have to communicate with the patients and
Throughout my high school career, I had a great variety of classes ranging from Civil Engineering and Architecture to Anatomy and Physiology. I was, and still am, interested in just about everything. At the University of North Dakota, I chose to pursue an Interdisciplinary Studies Degree with an emphasis in Health Science and a Minor in Biology. This allowed me to tailor my schedule to include courses I needed as well as courses I was interested in. As evident in my transcripts, I took a little bit of everything and I loved every moment of it. Although I wasn’t yet focusing on a certain career path, I was certain that I wanted to ultimately pursue a career in the medical field. Specifically, I have recently found that chiropractic will allow me to enrich the lives of others while exhibiting lifelong learning
As I began college, I decided not to choose a major at first. It was not until the beginning of this semester that I declared Biology as my major. I have always been interested in science, and it has always been one of my best subjects. Since I was little, my dream has been to become a doctor. As I have taken more classes, trying to weed out what I do and do not like, I have discovered that sciences are what interest me the most. Currently I have an emphasis in pre-professional studies which means that my major is leading me to attend a medical school after I graduate from Arkansas State University.
My immediate professional goals are to graduate from Truman State University with my Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders, and then attend a graduate program to start my formal education to become an occupational therapist. My long term professional goal is to become a compassionate and knowledgeable OT, always looking to improve and further my working knowledge. My educational background is unique but also beneficial to becoming a well rounded occupational therapist. Knowing the fundamentals of speech and hearing science, I will be able to communicate more effectively with patients, as those who are receiving OT are often receiving speech therapy. It also gives me insight into the scope of practice for SLPs, providing me with the means to bring a well rounded and knowledgeable approach to a
I took Medical Terminology and a beginner’s class of Health Occupations; along with all my other high school classes, including: College Algebra, Anatomy & Psychology, Government, English 12, and New Testament Bible. This past January, I sent out an application for the Licensed Practical Nursing program, and was selected. During my second semester of Senior year, I took Psychology and Nutrition. After graduating from Peoria Christian School with a 3.5/4.0 GPA, as a National Honor Society member, I dove back into studies. This summer I am taking Biology 140 as well as Health Occupations. By this fall I will be starting my Clinical, these will go through till next summer. By this fall, I hope to have my certification as a LPN, and working in hospital with families like my own and with the struggles no family should have to bear with a loved
In my future, I would love to go live somewhere warm like sunny South Carolina and play golf, my main and favorite sport. I've always wanted to do something with medicine like both my parents. I aspire to be an anesthesiologist. Since so many of my family members work in the medical occupation it seems suitable. The only problem with this plan is the fondness I possess when it comes to science, my favorite subject is actually global. I think that it always makes sense and I'm able to remember anything we discuss in class. However, I am very good at overcoming difficult obstacles that life often allots and base my attitude about it to rise above the rest. That is what I would like people, especially my friends, to say about me; strength and persistence are her strong points. I am very determined to improve so my goal is to better myself in all aspects from school to
Currently, I am in the process of earning my Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a pre-medical emphasis from Grand Canyon University. Upon graduation, I hope to attend either a medical or physician assistant school. My specific goal in the medical field is still up in the air, however, I am avidly exploring the fields of pathology, oncology, emergency medicine, and surgery. My interest in the medical field was sparked by my human anatomy and physiology class during my senior year of high school. Put simply, my life in high school was rough, and I was completely lost, as far as my career decisions were concerned. I enrolled in a human anatomy course, to fill a hole in my schedule during my senior
I am currently taking Anatomy & Physiology at the ATC and I am also in a program called HOSA that the ATC provides. HOSA is an organization that provides opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all students interested in a health care career. Another program I am in is called EDME that the Texas Tech offers for students like me that want to peruse a career in the medical field. In the spring of 2016 I will be joining the Medical Club at Monterey that provides information and guest speakers to talk to students about careers in the medical field as well as hands on experience. I am also in AVID and I have been in this program for a year and a half at Monterey and AVID is very beneficial to me because, It keeps me focus on school and it helps me stay on track of my grades but most importantly it will help me get into a college. I plan on volunteering at the local hospitals so I can help my community, give my time to people in need, and have volunteer hours on my resume when I apply to medical
decided to major in becoming an EMT. EMT program itself is a very broad occupation with many
Biomed Academy at my high school will be the most contributing factor to attain my goal. This academy has changed my perspective about medicine career. I have gained tons of knowledge from BioMed academy in these high school years. This will help me to attain my goal, because the knowledge gained from this academy will help me to be a successful medical professional. The principle of Health Science, Health Science, CNA, psychology, Biology, and anatomy and physiology are classes that prepared me to be an eligible Pre-Med applicant. I have learned from the basic structures of the body to the complex structure of the body, and from classroom to hands-on experience at the rehabilitation center. These years in BioMed Academy will help me to attain
I am writing this easy to tell my plans after graduating from high school are to, Go to a two year college at Bossier Parish Community College. And I will taking Physical Therapist Assistant.
