Evaluation of the Impact of Social Media on the Enterprise system: 3.1 Definition of Social Media: Websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking are called social media. Social media describes the online tools that people use to share profile, content, opinions, insights, experiences, perspective and media itself. Thus facilitating conversations and interaction in online between groups of people (Solis, 2007). Social network sites are defined as web-based services that allow individuals to: I. Construct a public or semi-public profile within a bounded system, II. Articulate a list of other users with whom they share a connection, III. View and traverse their list of connections and those made by others within the system. Here, people can leave their thoughts, ideas, and opinions as to how Starbucks can improve its business. A reported 500,000 people have done just that. The site summarizes all of the ideas and then ranks and clearly presents them according to different categories.
