6.1. IMPORTANCE OF FUZZY LOGIC Fuzzy logic is all about the relative importance of precision: use as Fuzzy Logic Toolbox software with MATLAB technical computing software as a tool for solving problems with fuzzy logic. Fuzzy logic is a fascinating area of research because it does a good job of trading off between significance and precision something that humans have been managing for a very long time. In this sense, fuzzy logic is both old and new because, although the modern and methodical science of fuzzy logic is still young, the concept of fuzzy logic relies on age-old skills of human reasoning. Fig 6.1 Fuzzy Description 6.2. USAGE OF FUZZY LOGIC Fuzzy logic is a convenient way to map an input space to an output space. Mapping input to output is the starting point for everything. Consider the following examples:
• With information about how good your service was at a restaurant, a fuzzy logic system can tell you what the tip should be.
• With your specification of how hot you want the water, a fuzzy logic system can adjust the faucet valve to the right setting.
• With information about how far away the subject of your photograph is, a fuzzy logic system can focus the lens for you.

Between the input and the output, the preceding figure shows a black box that can contain any number of things: fuzzy systems, linear systems, expert systems, neural networks, differential equations, interpolated multi dimensional lookup tables, or even a spiritual advisor, just to name a few of the possible options. Clearly the list could go on and on.Of the dozens of ways to make the black box work, it turns out that fuzzy is often the very best way. As Lotfi Zadeh, who is considered to be the father of fuzzy logic, once remarked: "In almost every case you can build the same product without fuzzy logic, but fuzzy is faster and
As a recent employee in the restaurant industry, first as a hostess and later as a waitress, I have had the opportunity to experience the system of tipping not just from a customer’s point of view.
Abductive reasoning is mostly considered as a reasoning pattern than a data fusion technique. For any event that has been observed, the abduction method attempts to find the best explanation. Therefore, different inference methods, like NNs or fuzzy logic , can be employed.
Chapter 1 of James MacCormick’s book, Nine Algorithms That Changed The Future, provides an overview of what an algorithm is and introduces the reader of the algorithms that will be discussed throughout the book. An algorithm is a precise recipe that specifies the exact sequence of steps required to solve a problem (MacCormick, 3). Algorithm requires a sequence of steps that contain the instructions on what to do. One of the key elements of an algorithm is to have a set of rules in order to perform the mathematical calculations. Another feature of algorithms is that it always works. Computer science describes how to solve a problem using an algorithm. The main purpose of the book is to explain the algorithms one’s computer uses everyday
Tips are generally a small amount of money given to a person as gratitude for a service that has been provided. There are many times throughout our everyday lives in which we are put in a position to leave a gratuity. Whether it be dining at a restaurant, getting your hair cut at the salon, or having a few drinks with friends at a bar. In each case there was a service provided to you, now you have a decision to make, how much of a tip is considered acceptable and should you tip everyone that provides a service to you? There are many guidelines for consumers to follow. With modern technology there are convenient tip calculators available as features on most new cellular phones. When deciding on the tip amount the
When most people, tip they do so to reflect how the server took care of their needs. However, it has been researched that tip size does not always reflect the service. Most
tip to the waitress. We immediately think what a generous person this customer is. He/she very
Logic models represent a visual way of expressing the rationale or thought behind a program. Two other forms of expression may help concurrently support the development of a logic model, or accompany the model if it is to be communicated through written materials.
Famously ranked restaurants such as French Laundry as one of the country's finest restaurant, now add a 20 percent tip to the bill. All service charges, go to the house and everyone receives from that. Other restaurants are also printing gratuity guidelines on checks. In fact American Express now provides a calculation feature on its terminals so that restaurants can choose
It never occurred to me to consider how many tables our server was assigned to or how time consuming some customer requests may be. The truth of the matter is, a majority of restaurant guests do not notice these important details when deciding a servers tip. By taking a look at the manner of guests, many servers can predict the way customers will tip: the “how worthy are they? tipper,” the “percent tipper,” the “I am a server too, tipper,” and lastly, the “overly lavish tipper.” After only a short period of time in the service industry, waiters can easily pick these customers out, based off the tip they leave and the attitude presented.
In most restaurants in the United States, waiters receive a large portion of their compensations through tips from customers. Generally, the size of the tip is decided by the customer. However, many restaurants require a 15% tip for parties of eight or more. Using concepts from organizational architecture, discuss
George J. Kilr and Bo Yuan [32] Fuzzy logic is a way to formalize the human decision capacity of imprecise reasoning, or approximate reasoning. Such type of reasoning represents the human ability to find out the reason approximately and judge
This system is divided in a knowledge base and inference rules. In the video, this system is used when it comes the control center. The employees are checking flights and regulating flows thanks to precious information given in their computer like the weather, the flow rate and a packaging monitoring.
In computing – programming there is almost always more than one solution to a problem and this is where Logical Reasoning used to. The main use of Logical Reasoning is to anticipate the outcomes of the algorithms that are designed to solve a problem, to help select the best solution. Consequently Logical reasoning is the systematic application of rules to problem solving and task completion. These rules could be mathematical, logical, programming, grammatical, engineering, scientific, story construction in fact anybody of rules based around a logical system.
The purpose of this report is to give information on the subject known as Logical reasoning and its use in Computer Science and computers in general. A historical background behind logic and Logical reasoning is firstly given, followed by an overview of the modern subject and the types it’s divided into. The types are then explained. The overlap between the field of logic and that of computer science is also given an explanation. The report ends with a brief overview on the subject and its tie to computer science and computing.
The mathematical ideas like probability theory, fuzzy sets [12], rough sets [10] are well known as effective models for dealing with such uncertainties. However, each of them has distinguished advantages as well as certain limitations. Fuzzy sets fail to parameterize a value.
