Improvements for RCA Make Regent Christian Academy great again. A generous high school graduate from Regent, has blessed the school with a large financial gift. The donated money should be focused towards the improvement of the P.E department, Fine arts department, and the school campus. The physical education department is one of the sections that the money should be used for. First, the school needs more P.E equipment, as well as an upgrade of the current equipment. For example, the badminton nets that are being used right now are not the proper nets for a game. Because of the temporary nets, RCA is unable to host badminton games and tournaments. Another example, would be the badminton racquets and the lacrosse sticks, many of them …show more content…
Rather than just having basic elective classes expanding their selection gives them the freedom to try new things, and see what they like and dislike. Secondly, similar to the P.E department there is also a lack of equipment in the Fine arts department. An example for this would be drama costumes, there is a lack of funds for the drama department to buy costumes and scripts. Therefore, it becomes quite challenging for the drama teachers and students to pick a production that they can actually produce. Putting in more funds toward Fine arts equipment will allow students to do more activities . Lastly, there should be more field trips for the fine arts department. For example, a field trip for the choir class could be going to an opera, while the drama class could go to a play or musical and the art class could go to a museum. All of these additions in the fine arts department will be money well spent, because it will allow the students of RCA to explore their God given talents, and it will inspire them to be more creative and work harder. A major portion of the financial gift should go towards renovations for the school campus. First, the school building needs to be enlarged, because there is not enough space for everyone to be in the same building. This has been a challenge for many students, because they have classes in portables
When you get to the issue of budgets there is really two parts to them. The general budget which is what the school district per say pays towards coaches salaries, transportation, and event workers. Coaches salaries are normally $120,000, transportation would be $50,000, and event workers can be around $5,000 - $10,000. Then the other part of the budget is the sports income, which is money from booster clubs, participation from other schools, and admissions, and it comes to roughly $120,000. Which goes out to uniforms, the athletic trainer, equipment and our participation at other school events. (Ross)
The Margaret Eaton School (MES) played an important role in Canadian physical education during a period of time known as the “golden age” for women’s sport in Canada. This essay will discuss how Margaret Eaton School came to be and why it is considered one of the leading schools in the development of women’s physical education in Canada in 1901, with the help of Emma Scott Raff and Margaret Eaton. The school started out as “The School of Expression” focusing on theatre and physical culture, and later (1925) shifted its views to focus solely on physical education. I plan to argue that from 1901 to 1942, the Margaret Eaton School played an innovative role in Canada in the development of physical education by offering women a comprehensive
During childhood our body and mind changes very fast. I believe that nowadays parents focus more on the brain developement of their children than their physical activity. When I was a little girl - over 20 years ago - we spent most of our time outside playing, running and enjoying fresh air and being in movement. Physical activity of children can secure them health and well being in their adulthood as well as teach them a lot of very importants aspects like social relations and behaviors in different situations.
The colleges could use that money to help improve their campuses. Colleges would be able to renovate and upgrade their gyms, classrooms, or dorms. By doing this, more people and students would be attracted to that school and want to go there. If they paid the athletes, then they would not have the opportunity to upgrade their standards. Also, the colleges could use that money towards the scholarships. Many students are unable to afford all of the money and tuition that comes with schooling, so when they offer scholarships, they bring in more students. More students equal higher popularity, and more popularity equals more success for the school. Another reason why college should get the money over athletes is that it could go towards the athletic directors and the staff of the athletic programs. That pay will ensure that the directors are doing their best and making the right decisions to help their teams progress positively. By bringing in the most talented players, the team has a better chance of winning games. Overall, the money would help the colleges gain an advantage over others and give them more opportunities than if they paid the
One reason why the sports budget should not be increased is because of health issues. One of the largest concerns for parents of teen athletes is injuries. One of the leading sports injuries are concussions. Concussions are caused by one large hit to the head which causes symptoms like headaches, dizziness, and light sensitivity. If not treated, it can lead to brain damage. While studies do show that concussions have risen from “7,000 to 22,000” (Notebook) reported cases a year. With the budget increase we can hire personal trainers to help with stretching and sports injuries. Then we can prevent injuries all together. With safer equipment, together as a school can make our athletics safer and better.
If we had more money in our budget to do our competitive season, we would not have to say goodbye to competing. The program receives a mere $1000, for the whole band program, as said by the band director. That is not enough for our program. My school district needs to fund the EMBC program separately from the regular band programs. I am not saying that their program isn’t as important, but we, the EMBC, require more funding for our award winning program. It is a sport, and therefore merits the full funding like any other team. A way we can do that is by moving around funding from teams who don’t require as much and move it towards the ones that do, like us. One example of this, would be to move excess funding from one
The mission of high quality elementary education is to help children develop and mature into successful and highly functioning learners by teaching the basics of education, healthy learning habits, and skills needed for everyday life; including social, mental, and physical knowledge. School should help students in all aspects of their lives. The mission along with being for the whole classroom, is for each individual and should adapt to their needs and learning level they are at. I used to be a math tutor, and each individual was at a different level with the material and comprehension. Each person has their own speed for learning and understanding. Also, not only do students need to be taught academic skills and knowledge, they also need to
More fine arts classes should be required because they let students express themselves and are fun, some students won’t take them by choice because they are afraid of what other might think, and they help students relax and concentrate. They also help people discover things about themselves and learn how to get through activities that they don’t like. The counselors and administration at our school and other schools should require more fine arts classes
In the past year the Board of Trustees have allocated capital funds on the recommendation of Headmaster John Loring to the athletic programs of the school. The faculty and staff have expressed their concern about the spending decisions of the headmaster to support athletic programs over the needs of the students and faculty. This year the trustees have included the faculty in the decision process in order to objectively create a capital budget which will be in the long-run interest of the school.
Kids would absolutely love it if you would increase the school’s sport budget. If you did that there can be increasing opportunities for kids who are lucky enough to get scholarships at colleges. To support why kids would love to get a higher sports budget, they would love to have a better happiness level overall. Also I think kids would love to be more fit, in which would make this middle school have a better athletic record. This budget increase could lead some kids to have a higher chance of doing well in life by getting a better start in life and having a happier life.
A large amount of schools physical activities are provoking economic complications. According to an article by Amanda Ripley, “New bleachers would cost half a million dollars” (11). A school in Premont, Texas cut off their science lab which was infested in mold; yet, maintained their their after school sports (Ripley, 11). This supports the idea that schools are spending an excessive amount of money on their physical education that should be spent for educational purposes. This evidence proves that districts are spending truckloads of money on their after school physical education.
Can you picture students taking Music, art, drama classes and all of the classes that they are required to take? These classes should be set for electives. The students should be able to select the classes they want to have. It also can take the fun out of making your schedule and being excited for the classes you want to part take in it just takes the fun of it. Students should not be required to take classes in the arts Because it can take up space where you can use for more valuable classes and it can make them feel more pressured in their school work, also it can take the fun out of the school experience. Having to take classes in the arts can take up space for the classes that you need to have in order to move on. For example this year I am not in any fun classes because I
Physical education should be a fun class, but fun does not have to mean chaos. I believe in a structure that will allow the students to have fun in a safe way. My lesson plans will be structured so that students are constantly engaged in physical activity. I feel that if I can keep students moving and learning, then the chances of misbehavior will decrease. In elementary school I feel that Instant Activities should be used to get students moving when they get into my class. High school is a little different. I feel that students at the secondary school level should be introduced physical fitness activities that will help keep them in shape later on in life.
Health and Physical Education is a mandatory learning area in the school curriculum which provides opportunities for all students to live healthy and active lifestyles. Schools are recognised as primary settings for developing health-related knowledge and skills. Health and physical education supports students to enhance their own and others’ health. Teaching is one of the most important careers that help advance a society. Teachers are important because they are responsible for passing along knowledge from generation to generation. Early Americans made education one of the most important aspects of society when this nation was founded. Formal education has been around thousands of years, but the modern education system in place now originated in the early 20th century. The progressive era in education took place from the 1890s to the 1930s. This era brought about dramatic expansions in the number of schools in the U.S. By 1940, nearly half of young adults were earning a high school diploma (Costrel). One specific type of teacher in a physical education teacher. A physical education teacher holds a big responsibility within the school. They are in charge of keeping the students healthy. P.E. teachers have to have exercise and fun blended into one class. A physical education teacher is a strong career choice because of the pay and benefits, the teamwork aspect, and the sense of self-satisfaction one gets from the career.
