Importance of Self-Esteem
Self-esteem has been a major factor in people's daily lives including their routine. Without realizing the impact self esteem has on us, we have certain levels of it and we depend on it daily to do tasks and activities. Although the meaning of self-esteem is constantly being changed by the way our society views it, it is the base to one's self worth and the way we view ourselves. Today, in our society we are trying to find out how much is too much and how much is enough to be mentally healthy and not get carried away to the point of becoming a narcissist. Self-esteem can be tough, you can learn to love yourself and cope with your insecurities. Nevertheless boosting someone else's self-esteem is not an effective way to ensure a healthy and successful individual. I believe that self-esteem is key and a great foundation to becoming successful in life. I also believe it has to come from the person within and not from someone else. Self-esteem isn't given it's grown. Even though there ways someone can help, for example giving you compliments or making you feel loved or happy. These things shouldn't let u feel as if it's boosting your self esteem, once those things are gone people lose their self esteem and feel as if they're worthless. Thats why its recommended for oneself to learn to love themselves and builds their self esteem daily.

Most people face self esteem problems at different levels. At some point in life people face this problem without realizing it. The question to be answered however is; what is the value and meaning of self-esteem? The trouble with self-esteem is that not everyone approaches it properly, taking a test or doing research based of a certain group of people is not the way to do so.
Usually, people are very judgmental with themselves, comparing themselves with others and making decisions about themselves based on the comparisons that they have made. People constantly estimate or appraise themselves. Therefore it could be that self-esteem refers to the positive or negative evaluation of ourselves.
The concept of self esteem is widespread in life. When it comes to academics and extracurricular actives people associate high self esteem is necessary for success. Society makes promoting self esteem an important goal. With that in mind, it is surprising that only recently scientific literature began providing insight into the nature of development of self esteem.
Self esteem is defined as how we feel about ourselves.The way that one feels about them self can be positive resulting in high self esteem, or negative resulting in low self esteem. Self esteem evolves throughout a person's life based on their experiences and relationships. The way that one is treated by those closest to them can be a huge factor in determining their level of self esteem. Abuse, excessive criticism, neglect, and lack of support or love can all contribute to a person having low self esteem. Body image, a person's perception of his or her physical appearance, is another factor in self esteem. Those who feel unsatisfied with their physical appearance tend to have low self esteem.
A person with a strong sense of self esteem will have a more positive outlook on life and will be strong enough to handle difficult situations through life.

Humans are judgmental creatures. One of our most significant philosophy is “not judging a book by its cover”, which examines our habit to judge. We did not purposely develop this questionable characteristic; we seem to have been with this evolutionary trait. We judge everything as a survival instinct to protect ourselves; the perception we create from our personal opinions determine whether we believe something is friendly or foe. As with everything, we judge ourselves, and we tend to be our biggest critic. We constantly judge ourselves, but why? People have referred to this type of judgement as self-esteem. I always pictured self esteem as the amount of actual steam in a tea pot. The more steam one had the better they would feel. Sadly, my teapot was often running low. I wanted to be confident and not care what others thought about me, but it felt like the

People’s self-esteem either high or low is shaped by their life experiences. I believe a person’s self-esteem begins to take shape at an early age, with their parents being a major influence. Kind, positive, knowledgeable and caring parents help children create a positive self-image. Parents who do not feel good about themselves or others, sometimes take it out on their childern by belittling them or discouraging them. This leads the child down a path of self-doubt and eventually given the right circumstances a lower self-esteem.
