To better illustrate this concept figure 2 depicts the subtasks identified as Milestones. The project management has estimated the time required to complete the 1st phase of the project (Project Preparation) would require 10 days. Secondly, I will discuss what are the basic phases of the project lifecycle and their purpose. Most scholars have accepted generally the triple constraints as key elements of project success. If one of these three constraints get reduces it will have an impact on the other one, balancing between them is crucial for project managers. It is said that “To create a successful project, a project manager must consider scope time and cost and balance these three often-competing goals”.

Project management is a series of steps taken in sequence to manage a project through all phases from conception to completion. The steps are documented in a strategic plan. The plan is used to ensure that all parties are working towards a common goal. Project management requires applying knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to specific activities in accordance with established standards and guidelines. There are five basic functions of project management: planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling. Basic activities of project management include: identifying project requirements to define the outcomes; addressing various needs, concerns and expectations of others; setting up, maintaining and carrying out communications; managing others; creating project deliverables; and balancing competing project constraints.

Continuously refer to the statement of work or scope document help eliminate scope creep (non-controlled changes in a project).

Proper following and acknowledgement of the timeline is vital to the success of this project. If the project goes overtime, it can cause serious budget mess-ups and furthermore delays.
