TITLE
When I think of my college search, I think of a lot of stress and a lot of time. It was a very stressful time in my life and put a lot of pressure on me to get into a good school. Education is the most important part of one’s life. Not everyone goes to college right after high school, and college is not intended for everyone. For example, some people decide to work right after high school rather than go straight into college. College is quite expensive, and some may even say it is hard. However, college is not a bad thing. It has many good qualities. For instance, college is a time where students can venture out and meet new people. I knew without a college degree I would probably be going nowhere

That was my major reason for coming to college; to figure out my life for the future. I would want my peers and teacher to remember me how I am today. I like to believe I am a nice, outgoing, and very open person. Someone you could come to for help and be able to talk to, or someone to make you laugh when you need a laugh. I was raised to treat everybody with respect and kindness, and I want to be remembered in that way. For people who have already finished high school, one of the choices they will have to make is whether to continue to higher education, which means going to college, or to start working and planning their life right away. Different people will have different choices of their own, but for me, I think there are a couple of reasons why I should attend college. I decided to go to college to get a bachelor’s degree in restaraunt management. A college degree will make me more competitive in the job market, and give me a better opportunity to receive a higher paying job. In order to maintain and promote your position at a company, you must have the knowledge and experiences that come from attending college. A person with a bachelor’s degree will earn, on average, almost twice as much as workers with a high school diploma. People with a master’s degree can earn up to $31,900 more per year than a high school graduate. And those who attend a two year college are able to earn up to $250,000 more than
Many students have a decision to make during high school. That is whether to continue and go to college or just stop there. By having a college education a person is offered a variety of job opportunities. While non-college students have opportunities they are very limited and rare. College is expensive and choosing a career is strenuous. College is extremely important in a student’s career and continuing school pays off. Many view colleges as a make or break situation. However, a person should think about their future and family.
Many high school students struggle on the fact whether or not should they attend college after high school or not. College is a place to further someone’s education rather than just having an average high school diploma. A person can attend college for however long they want to receive any degree to mind. Going to college will be a helpful advantage to a person life because a person can live finically stable, choose your own career, and enjoy the lifestyle that comes with going away for college.
One question that comes to mind when graduating high school is, “should I attend college?” For many graduates this question have a very obvious answer. A high school graduate may state that, “college is the best option if one is trying to get a higher level of education, and will help one compete for a higher paying job.” However, in my opinion most graduates do not consider the fact that going to college is a very big decision to make and that the schoolwork will not be easy. Going to college is not the best choice for every high school graduate because many students cannot handle college, colleges’ lower standards, and not all jobs require a college degree.
============Many people have either gone to college for many generations or they will be the first members of their family to ever go to college. For some the idea of going to college has been heavily pushed by those in their family. However, going to college should be a personal decision. For example, some people going to college is so that they can have they can have a secure future as they grow older. Some people may not realize this, but there are a lot of options and opportunities available for those with just a high school diploma. Even though not having a degree can limit some options there are plenty of careers out there that do not require a degree. Also, a person could become successful just from working “From the Bottom Up.” However, going to college could potentially lead to more opportunities in the future. College is a way for a person to “invest in them self” (Attending College). College can give someone the
Today, many students are settling for jobs immediately out of high school instead of furthering their education in college. Students should consider how necessary college actually is for their lives in the future. It provides one with a significant amount of opportunities, a greater knowledge about their career plan, and a better sense of responsibility.
Having a college degree allows for better job opportunities. Companies everywhere want to hire people who have the skills necessary for the work environment. Education Corner (n.d) states “college trains you to think analytically, understand complex subjects and communicate your own critical ideas about them”. Retrieved from http://www.educationcorner.com/benefit-of-earning-a-college-degree.html. College allows one to interact with others in a work field in a smooth manner.
As we all pretty much know, college is a very big deal and the stepping stone for the real world, but there has been many controversies on whether the cost adds up or not. After graduating high school the choice is yours and you are held accountable for the decision that you want to make to have a career or just a job. College although it does take time, money, and effort, in a long run it will all be worth it when the individual is successful and knowledgeable.
When thinking about the future, college is usually the first option on student’s mind. It is the place to go if someone wants to have a successful life, but there is more than one way to get to a destination and that applies to life after high school to. College is important, but careful considerations need to be put in on the debt that would have to be paid back, the other options that are available that could earn as much as a person with a degree, and the stigma of not going to college because there are many different roads that can lead to success.
When asked, how do you think college students respond to 'why did you choose to go to college?' Most would respond with the popular answer of 'to get a better job'. Jobs nowadays continue to push students and possible employees by requiring more experience and education. Without higher levels of education, jobs typically pay less and have less benefits. Education allows people to qualify for high positions, think creatively out of bad situations, and gives
After graduating High School many young people dismiss the change of going to college. In fact many high school grads believe that going to college is a waste of time and is not really needed. When in reality going to college it will offer you many opportunities to succeed in life. By going to college it offers you a ticket to a higher earning salary. You learn how to use basic skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, reasoning and also learning how to manage your time effectively.
Although many people see college as a pathway to success, it is not for everyone. Many people make the decision to go to college because they want more out of life than what a regular day job has to offer. Sure McDonald’s could pay the bills but most people want a stable life. Most people would like to see themselves doing better than “well off”. College may often seem like a waste of time and money but receiving a degree is rewarding. With the degree in hand a person will be first in line for the best jobs after college or the college you attend has a wonderful job placement after school. College prepares you for the real world and offers opportunities to achieve more in life.
In addition, having a college degree ensures economic and financial stability. You actually have a much higher earning potential if you graduated. According to the reports of U.S. Census Bureau, the median annual earnings of individuals with
The benefits of a college degree are not just for money, but also a college degree will also give a person more career options. A person with a college degree will have more career options than someone without a college degree because employers will see that one has a college degree and think that person knows what to do and can do the job well. Employers want the best person for the job and a college degree looks really good on a person’s resume (Ten Great…). In a survey that was casted to see what employers look for, those employers said that they wanted people that have dependability, reliability, a good attitude, the ability to read comfortably, the ability to think more consciously, computer skills, and the ability to communicate clearly whether it be spoken or in writing (Knowledge and…). Along the path of getting a college degree, one will also learn these skills and attributes.
College is the best way for people to be successful. A famous journalist, Dan Rater has said, “A college degree is the key to realizing the American dream, well worth the financial sacrifice because it is supposed to open the door to a world of opportunity.” Many people feel lost after they graduated high school, they don’t know what challenge is waiting for them; and they have to make the toughest decision in their lives: either go to college or go to work, those two choices will completely change people’s lives. Education can improve people’s lives, and everybody can be educated by going to college; with no doubt, going to college will be the wisest decision people ever made.
College for many people has always been viewed as a must do, a must have, or it is very hard to be successful in the future. This article can change the way people look at going to college. “Universities are not intended to teach the knowledge required to fit men for some special mode of gaining their livelihood,” John Stuart Mill said. Charles Murray shares his view about how college is not always the best option for people by using different views of people and statistics to show why college may not be all it is said to be. Differences in an opinion by people can show too many people going to college or people do not need to go to college. Murray shows that there has to be a better way to become successful than by just getting a degree. Many students go to college looking to get a degree, but only about a third of people actually leave with one.
