Importance of Mathematics
The main reason for studying mathematics to an advanced level is that it is interesting and enjoyable. People like its challenge, its clarity, and the fact that you know when you are right. The solution of a problem has an excitement and a satisfaction. You will find all these aspects in a university degree course.
You should also be aware of the wide importance of Mathematics, and the way in which it is advancing at a spectacular rate. Mathematics is about pattern and structure; it is about logical analysis, deduction, calculation within these patterns and structures. When patterns are found, often in widely different areas of science and technology, the mathematics of these patterns can be used to explain and …show more content…
There is also a reverse interaction.
The notion of computing would not have made sense without Mathematics, and it was the analysis of the methods of Mathematics by mathematicians, philosophers, logicians and engineers which led to the concept of a programmable computer
. Indeed, two mathematicians, von Neumann in the USA and Turing in the UK, are known as the fathers of the modern computers. Analysis of computing, and attempts to make it as reliable as possible, needs deep Mathematics, and this need is likely to grow. A computer, unless it is programmed, is just a box made of metal, glass, silicon, etc. Programming expresses algorithms in a form suitable for the computer. Mathematics is needed as a language for specification, for determining what is to be done, how and when, and for the verification that the programs and algorithms work correctly. Mathematics is essential for the correct use of computers in most of their applications and the mathematical needs of computing have sparked off many new and exciting questions. Thus

The Importance Of Reflective Practices That Provide Opportunities For Mathematics Teachers
1665 Words 7 PagesDiscuss the importance of reflective practices that provide opportunities for mathematics teachers to systematically assess the effects of their practice and experiences. Reflective practices that provide opportunities for mathematics teachers to systematically assess the effects of their practices and experiences are very important. The research I have found supports the use of reflective practices even if it means slowing down the pace of the material covered. One type of reflective practice…

Importance Of Mathematics And Language Arts
1297 Words 6 Pagesworld, the daily interactions and experiences in which we use language, writing, reading, mathematics, science, and social studies do not occur in isolation. Rather, we draw upon our knowledge and understanding in each area as we explore, investigate, and learn each day: "Just as scientists use mathematics and language arts as tools, children should have opportunities to apply and enhance their mathematics, reading, and writing skills while investigating the natural world" (Bass, Contant, and Carin…

The Importance Of Teachers Play An Important Role On Facilitating Mathematics Skills
932 Words 4 PagesQUESTIONING Teachers play an important role in fostering mathematics skills. In the “play dough” (Appendix A) episode, the educators can push student thinking and place the burden of thought on the student. Strategic questioning can really promote higher order thinking a natural integration between math and play (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics [NCTM], 1999). Questions such as “How can you tell which one is the biggest/smallest? How do you put them in order? Teachers should be encouraged…

The Mathematics Of Mathematics Into Mathematics Education
1947 Words 8 PagesMathematics is a versatile and always changing subject as people research and theorize new ideas. Calvin Clawson proclaimed that “the single most compelling reason to explore the world of mathematics is that it is beautiful, and pondering its intriguing ideas is great fun” (2). To make this subject easier to explore, teachers should be implementing the history of mathematics into mathematics education. They should do so because of the numerous benefits that it would yield to students and teachers…

Why Is Mathematics Important For Mathematics?
2575 Words 11 Pagespresence of mathematics in everything that we are doing and in nature all around us. It was that broad exposure that led me to write about the importance of mathematics in our life. The road to success was not an easy path for me, but I succeeded in obtaining my bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Jersey…

Importance Of Mathematics For Teaching By Ball, Hill Bass, And Bass
817 Words 4 PagesI had many reflections—as a student, teacher, and educator—after reading the article, “Knowing Mathematics for Teaching” by Ball, HillBass, and Bass (2005). Ball and her colleagues (2005) discuss the issue that there are many different schools of thoughts and practices about the way teachers should be prepared and supported to teach mathematics in classrooms. On the one hand, teachers are asked to take additional math content classes, attend teaching practice and new curriculum workshops. On…
