Where would you be without industrial engineers? You probably do not even know what an Industrial engineer does. When the word engineer comes to mind, people just assume some guy sitting in an office doing a bunch of complicated equations day in and day out. Although that is not wrong, it is not true for industrial engineers. Industrial engineers are solving a new problem everyday in new and innovative ways. Industrial engineers are not a widely known career, but are a cornerstone to our workplaces. What exactly is an industrial engineer? According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics they state that “Industrial engineers eliminate wastefulness in production processes. They devise efficient systems that integrate workers, machines, information, and energy to make a product or provide a service.” That description can vary from engineer to engineer but the general overview fits almost every single industrial engineer. Their main purpose in almost every case is to eliminate waste in production. This is done through their development of systems that is why they are sometimes referred to as industrial and systems engineers. Industrial engineers, eliminate the overall waste in their company's production processes through always changing methods. When an industrial engineer is trying to locate the issue with some production scheme he might first look over a workplaces production schedule or maybe just the overall flow of a process. Sometimes the engineers develop their employers savings through simple changes in an assembly line by simply adjusting the layout of the machines in their assembly line to eliminate wasted energy. Engineers can also develop saving through much more complex and modern methods by developing a new computer system in which the machines synchronize their output times so that they all are feeding into each other with no time wasted. The Industrial Revolution brought about a more advanced era with lasting effects. Due to these effects, we can live easier, more comfortable lives that last longer and are, in comparison, far better. Some of these effects are still evident today. However, not all of them were positive, nor were all of them negative. While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily negative consequences for society because of poor living and working conditions, it was actually a positive thing for society. Industrialization’s positive effects included better business, a ready workforce, and more efficient machines, production, and transportation.
The Industrial Revolution began in England during the 18th Century. This revolution started out in England, and spread throughout Europe and North America. Many technologic and agricultural advances were made during this time. Factories became the main source of production, rather than in home workers. This resulted in many people living in rural areas to move into industrialized cities, which was called rural to urban migration. The Industrial Revolution started in England due to its supply of natural resources, advanced technology and inventions, and political freedom.
The Industrial Revolution was a major turning point in history that took place between 1760 and the mid 1800’s. During this time frame, a variety of different machines were invented and put in factories to make workers and everyday people’s lives easier. These machines had to be run by people such as women and even children because the men were mostly in coal mines. Some of the many negative consequences about these new jobs and new machines being invented were; child labor, physical abuse on the job, and unsafe working conditions. While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily positive consequences for society because more jobs became available, it was actually a negative thing.
Seconds gave birth to minutes and minutes to hours, yet my concentration remained resolute. Despite the daunting nature of the task, I remained determined in what I had to achieve. For the first time applying some rudimentary scientific ideas I managed to build an intricate model of a toy car. “You shall grow up to become an Engineer one day,” my father exclaimed gazing at my laudable piece of creativity. I was only eleven and yet those prophetic words unknowingly chartered my future course for me.
America had a huge industrial revolution in the late 1800”s. Many changes happened to our great nation, which factored into this. The evidence clearly shows that advancements in new technology, a large wave of immigrants into our country and new views of our government, helped to promote America’s huge industrial growth from the period of 1860-1900.
When I decided to become an engineer, I thought hard on what that entailed. I saw myself working on hands on projects with a skill and proficiency that I could truly be proud of. That's why after listening to the presentation for Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology in my freshman year here at Texas A&M I knew that this major was the best fit for me. The mentioning of learning how to manufacture and produce things from conception to finished product was very exciting to me. I also appreciate that the education is very application oriented rather than just teaching theoretical content. I feel that this directly prepares one for a future career in industry and this sense of job security is what really attracted me to this engineering
Q6. In my opinion, without the occurrence of the Industrial Revolution, conquering Africa would have been a much harder goal to achieve for the Europeans. The Industrial Revolution brought many new advancements for the Europeans, it gave them an edge over the Africans. I believe that if the Europeans had tried to take over Africa it would've been a much harder and longer process. Many different aspects would be changed without the Industrial Revolution.
The Industrial Revolution was the process of changing the manufacturing of goods from inside peoples homes to factories equipped with advanced machines that occurred in the 18th and 19th centuries. These changes were shown not only in good production but also transportation. During the first American Revolution the north was most affected because of its increase in jobs, increased amount of goods, and more advanced. One way the north was affected in the Revolution was because of its increase in job opportunities. The Southern states were home to many slaves, the North benefitted because unlike the south there were very many jobs available in the north that were occupied in the South by slaves (Document IV).

The Industrial Revolution was marked as the biggest shift from an agrarian, handcrafted economy, to an economy dominated by machines. The Industrial Revolution began during the 1700s in Great Britain when King George III was in power. The Industrial Revolution had many positive effects such as the invention of the railroad. It also had many negative effects like how many got sick and died because of the working conditions. Out of all the positive and the negative effects the lasting effects were major. One of the most major lasting effects was the environmental laws that were put in place to stop all of the pollution and trash in the sewage.
The Second American Industrial Revolution was a time of great social improvements and advances in technology. It was also a time of great turmoil for the workforce and the lower class. Industrialization allowed the growth in gross national product of the United States, which helped improve the economy (doc 1). The period of advancements that dramatically aided in the growth of America occurred between 1780 and 1860. This growth included movement from rural areas to urban areas. In 1870, 70% of the population lived in rural areas, but by 1910, only 54% lived in rural areas (doc 1). The flight from the farmland and the immigration movement overpopulated the cities.
