Introduction
Nutrition can be the study as well as the intake of materials known to have nutritional value into our body through our mouth. I could have just said intake of materials, but, no, I know of people who eat even paper as a result of their bad habits and that's not anyway near nutrition.
[1] If I take a step further, I would say nutrition is the interpretation of the interaction between the nutrients in the food we consume and our growth, health, diseases, et cetera. I hope you know nutrition goes beyond this, it also includes the absorption of foods, assimilation, the catabolism ( break down of food), the anabolism ( build-up of bigger molecules for energy storage), even down to the excretion.

Just like I said in my last post on genetics, genetics has a hand in most or all of our life activities and the extent to which we grow is not an exception. Your genes can say a lot about how aged you'll become under normal circumstances - with the exception of deaths caused by smoking, accidents, food poisoning, and the likes. [4] Your genes might say 80 but you've lived for 100 years, that's because something else also has the right to determine your lifespan - the environmental factor, of which nutrition is a major part.
There is a huge link between nutrition and aging, at least visible enough for the blind to see, Lol. As we grow and become aged, our nutrition change. Right from the point of breast milk, to cereals, to fruits, solids, and back to [5] fruits, vegetables... Failure to effect the changes might lead to abnormality in growth for children, [6] increased risk of bacterial infection, cancer, weakened bones, and even brain disorders in aged

Err... You don't believe? Why must your doctor say, eat before taking your drugs? You think it's just their normal job ethics or something they must say? No, it's not. They tell you that because of the importance of nutrition on your health. Although, there are some exceptions and sometimes, you might need to take drugs before eating.
Of course, you can compare this to the one above
A good nutrition is meant to help us grow and age gracefully without having to worry much about bad health and the age-associated diseases we see all around. Of course, you can compare this picture on the left to the one on the right above, they might not be of the same age though but the one on the left sure has a wrinkled face - a result of malnutrition.
It's important to know that malnutrition as it is, can land you in the hospital if you're not careful enough to know when to put your nutrition into check. It almost did so to me, but I figured it out early enough and that's the major reason I thought of

My nutrition related term was sugar, sugar is something that we all crave and enjoy from time to time. For some sugar can be as addicting as any drug or alcohol. I once watched a documentary on the effects sugar can have on the human body and ever since then I have become obsessed about watching my daily sugar intake. I have become more mindful of it and try to avoid added sugar at all costs.
Nutrients are substances needed for normal bodily operations. Essential nutrients, derived from healthy food choices, are virtually indispensable to the body. Without them, the normal functions of the body begin to deteriorate. They must be derived via the diet.
When people think about malnutrition, many think of the children who don’t have food to eat. Which is a huge problem, and a problem that can be prevented. “Malnutrition afflicts an estimated 34 million children worldwide, and results in the loss of 1 million children under five every year.” However, in the US, malnutrition as a result of inadequate food intake is rare, although it may occur if a child is neglected, living in poverty or being abused. Moreover, a lot of children become malnourished because they are picky about what they eat, or refuse to eat due to issues with body image.
Physiological changes and changes in nutritional requirements are not the only cause of elderly malnutrition. Proper nutrition is one of the most essential elements to being healthy and living a long life. People deal with food every day, and food has been a part of life since the beginning of civilization.
