The firm also maintains a business continuity and disaster recovery facility on the island of Mauritius. Often referred to as the “Microsoft of India”, Infosys had humble beginnings in July 1981. Reportedly, Chairman Narayana Murthy and six entrepreneurial friends borrowed $250 from their wives to form the company (see Exhibit 2 for their names and titles).
