Interpreted: A Short Story

The sun can be interpreted in many ways.
For some, it’s a gentle light that brings happiness wherever it goes. A nimble bulb that wakens anything below it. A companion that brings warmth to all things. Overall, to some it’s a thing of beauty.
However, others would say that the gentle smile that would bring warmth would instead be a smirk, a mockery, an evil doer. To some, the sun was a blazing ball of rage, which drained life from the living, a thing that mocked anyone it saw, a monster that breathed fire on the unfortunate, which brought even the strongest of creatures to their knees. Chloe and Sam were not sure about the sun. As they awoke, it greeted them with welcoming arms and a warm smile over …show more content…

They couldn’t forget about last night, how the fireflies glided in the air and glimmered in the dark, providing them with a small amount of light. They couldn’t forget about their first kiss, how the world refused to move forward and remained stuck in time, how everything around them became dark and only the two of them existed, their mouths connecting, their eyes slowly closing, their hearts raising, their heat evaporating, their arms moving freely around the two. Sam held her hand. “Maybe the answers are out there,” he pointed at the vast land. “Maybe if we just keep going, we’ll find the answer.”
“Your right, whatever is going on it’s up to us to find out what it is.”
“And to find out why we don’t know about it.”
There was determination in Sam’s eyes, like one of those moments where you find the answer and you know how to solve it. Now there was a set path.
Chloe smiled. “So… we’re like… on a mission?”
“When you put it that way… I guess we are.”
“Well then, mission objective: Find out the truth.”
Sam looked like he was about to jump around in excitement. “Oh God, we’re like spies or agents now! So cool!”
Chloe couldn’t help but giggle. “You’re acting like a kid.”
“What? It’s like the old
