SOWK 425 Intervention Group Proposal Paper For the purpose of this paper I will be structuring my group based on that I am employed by Chesterfield Community Corrections. Chesterfield Community Corrections is made up of seven different agencies and I work for the domestic and sexual violence resource center. I will be running a group for survivors of domestic violence. However, before I discuss my group I will introduce you to the mission and vision statement of Chesterfield Community Corrections Domestic Violence Center and a background on the agency itself. The center serves as Chesterfield County’s hub for coordinating response efforts to domestic and sexual violence. A goal of the unit itself is to develop a county wide policy and practice that places value of the victim’s safety and accountability on the offender. The center works with other Chesterfield County units such as the police department, Commonwealth Attorney’s office, Community Service Board, Social Services, Health Department, Magistrates Office, Victim’s Witness Protection, Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts and Community Corrections and Pretrial Services. The center is a valuable resource for county wide service providers and victims and assists by linking them to professionals with available services to the community. Domestic violence is a universal problem that can affect an individual of any age, gender, race, education level, social class, or culture. This type of violence is considered to be one of the most widespread public health crises in the United States (Black et al., 2011). The purpose of this essay is to create a plan for a program that addresses domestic violence-related crime in West Virginia. To begin, significant information in relation to domestic violence will be provided. This will be followed by the program plan, which will include seven steps: an analysis of the problem, identification of goals and objectives, development of a program design, development of an action plan, development of a plan to monitor program effectiveness,
Response to Intervention (RTI) is an in school service program designed to guarantee that all students are getting a high quality education. Before students are referred for special education services, it is essential that they receive effective teaching designed to meet their own learning requirements. All students in public schools are required to be included in the RTI program.
The Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence (WSCADV, n.d.) provides training for advocates of domestic violence (DV) survivors and their families. This paper reflects my experiences as I worked through the first three sections of training: the history of the DV movement; the key requirements of DV advocacy; and safety planning. The primary thread throughout the training sections is the importance of providing advocacy based on survivor-empowerment and meeting clients where they are. In this paper, I also explore my role as a mental health counselor in an interdisciplinary response team working with survivors of domestic violence.
Intervention Central is a free online resource for teachers and school districts to use for the implementation of intervention in or outside of the classroom while following the Common Core State Standards. Jim Wright, a psychologist and school administrator out of New York, created Intervention Central in hopes that the website would help offer high quality RTI in even the lowest budgeted schools. The website offers a wide variety of tools for teachers to use for academic and behavioral interventions as well as assessments and informative articles. Intervention Central also offers training videos and webinars on many different topics. The site breaks the intervention process activities down by subject and subject areas.
At my agency I work with victims of domestic violence. In training with Chesterfield County Domestic Violence Resource Center I learned a lot about how this growing problem has affected them. This county is one of two that had been recognized for efforts to ending domestic violence. They believe that effective intervention in assaults and sexual violence occurs when the agency and service coordinates their policies and practice to meet community intervention.
The goals of the battered women’s in jail group were sampled from The National Clearinghouse for the Defense of Battered Women and would include educating women about the dynamics of domestic violence, supporting domestic violence survivors healing from the effects of trauma, supporting survivors of abuse in developing strategies and identifying resources to help prevent them from experiencing abuse again in the future, helping survivors plan and prepare for being released, including developing comprehensive strategies for enhancing their safety while in the community (Bible, 2011).
Since funding is limited, not all agencies has the resources to hire internal and external evaluators (Yuen & Terao, 2002, Chapter 8). Therefore, funding institutes may provide the necessary resources. As stated earlier, PEACE’s mission is to reduce victim trauma, empowering the survivors, and lastly providing direct services. The biggest part of the program is to reduce the number of sexual assaults, as well as of any domestic violence. The program through PEACE intends to achieve this by informing the community in the city of Portland about domestic violence victims and survivors. As far as the program, those in charge are focused on societal norms. PEACE looks to address the problems that are faced by the youth, spouses, and violence acted upon children in Portland. The PEACE Domestic Violence Agency will always keep the well-being of the victims as the first priority: young men, women, and children whose lives have been affected by domestic violence. This will be possible as long as funding is available. Funding is necessary when trying to raise awareness through educational program such as providing young people who are or have been involved with the criminal justice system with a rehabilitation program designed to obtain the skills, confidence, and personal support networks to enable them to lead fulfilled and successful lives. This is what is needed in order to reduce re-occurring domestic violence crimes. Through a rehabilitation
This paper will discuss about alcohol and substance abuse in the workplace, and the proper evidence based practice interventions for treatment to help the issue. I will discuss background information about the problem and why it is importance of why this topic needs to be addressed. I will also discuss evidence based interventions that have been proven to help those who have a problem with alcohol and substance abuse in the workplace. This will be done by reviewing different articles written by researchers about the problem and how they used interventions to help solve it. Finally, I will explain whether or not I would implement the use of these interventions in my current practice as a social worker.
Students can be identified as having a learning disability by using a process based on their response to research-based interventions along with an IQ-achievement discrepancy. These scientific, research-based interventions, which are tiered approaches to school based service delivery, are generally known or called response-to-intervention (RtI) models. RtI models are early intervention approaches that involve children’s responses to evidence-based interventions which are implemented on three different levels of intensity. To achieve prevention goals, RTI schools are structured, arranged, staffed, and lead differently than traditional schools. Along with using a tiered approach, schools that use RtI models also use progress monitoring. They use a vital flow chart of students, within and across tiers of services, to maintain a positive response to intervention. School-wide RtI is characterized by multiple tiers of risk and support. Students within RtI schools are considered to be placed across three, sometimes four, tiers of risk ranging from no risk to very high level of risk. There is no right or wrong amount of tiers schools can use, but the majority of schools use a three tier system. The expectation of Tier 1 is that about 80% of students will be making expected progress in
Intervention/Response: CM received a called from Corporal Williams on Prichard Police Department stating she needs to meet with consumer. CM informed Corporal Williams she will give her a call once she makes it to consumer home. CM traveled to consumer home for the purpose of monitoring and assessing needs. CM was accompanied with CM Shamaiya Williams. CM arrived at consumer home and knocked on the front door. Consumer answered door and met with CM on the front porch. CM contacted Corporal Williams and informed her she was at Consumer home. While waiting for Corporal Williams to arrive CM and consumer discussed consumer medications regimen. Consumer has been taking her morning medications. CM educated consumer on the importance of her taking
The term integrated interventions refers to specific types of treatment strategies, or specific therapeutic techniques that address interventions of two disorders which is usually combined into one interaction, or single session, and sometimes into multiple sessions. First it must start off with an integrated screening by a substance abuse counselor, and if a co-occurring disorder is identified by a mental health counselor. This would offer the client the proper assessment and process for the best level of care needed. There is also the dual recovery, mutual aid self-help groups and meetings. This is usually an independent, twelve step, and self-help type organization. Helping those with a combined alcohol dependence and an emotional or psychiatric
On Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at 4pm I visited a Jersey Battered Women ‘s Services (JBWS) located in Morris plains New Jersey that deals with violence issues. I interviewed Miss Lid, one of the agency personnel. She told me that her name is “Miss Lid for the purpose of the interview and to assure privacy “. Immediately she gave me an overview of the agency and insisted on how proud she is in helping this population because domestic violence represents a major problem in the United States as well as many other parts of the word. She described to me that the mission of JBWS is to prevent domestic violence, protects the victims, counsel them about the dynamics of domestic violence and provide information on potential
American Intervention not only occurred overseas but at home, in 1932 Washington D.C. Troops was deployed to stop the Army WW I Veterans bonus Protest. In Detroit 1943, troops deployed to put down a black rebellion. In 1967 troops were deployed in Detroit once again to put down an African American riot, 43 people killed. In the early 1960’s the United Stated returned to its pre-World War II intervention role in the Caribbean, directing the failed 1961 Bay of Pigs, invasions of Cuba. In 1965, there was a Marine invasion of the Dominican Republic during an election. The CIA trained and harbored Cuban exile groups in Miami which launched terrorist attacks in Cuba. During the Cold War the CIA also assisted in supporting and installing

The therapeutic and healing properties of music have been recognized throughout history. Rothrock (2011) stated that music is recognized as a way to decrease the physiologic and behavioral anxiety found in most surgical patients. Anxiety is a powerful emotion that can trigger physiological responses, cause stress, increase pain sensation and delay wound healing (Upton, 2014). Surgeons often prescribe medication to relieve anxiety preoperatively without consideration of an alternative intervention. Complementary interventions such as music therapy can provide a level of distraction, thus promoting a reduction in anxiety level (Comeaux, & Steele-Moses, 2013).
