My love and admiration for technology started when I was 10 years old, watching the movie “Iron Man” for the first time. I just loved how the character – Tony Stark – was a man of creation innovative ideas and future technology. I was in complete awe, being totally amazed and captivated by the way Mr. Stark was just able to make anything and everything the way he desired to; when Mr. Stark needed an assistant 24/7 he made the first complete Artificial Intelligent being, J.A.R.V.I.S., when he wanted to oppose those who used his technology for evil he made the first every exo-suit, the Iron Man Armor, when he needed a power source to keep him alive he created a new element to do just that! Everything about “Iron Man” and the concept of Tony Stark just captivated me and I still have never lost that feeling yet. I believe …show more content…
I enrolled in the STEM Academy in my freshman year The main reason I decided to be in the STEM Academy freshman year was to be able to take another step forward in my goal to be spearheading technological advancement, and I am very glad I did so. I believe the significance of me joining the STEM Academy is the friends and people I have met and the knowledge I have attained. If it were not for the STEM Academy I would not have been so motivated in my academic life because the people in the STEM Academy are all in the top 25 people in my class. Having people as such around me at all times has motivated me and has made me have greater standards for myself. The STEM Academy has also allowed me to do many different things such as programming, advance biochemistry, and robotics. It has also sparked my interest in competing in the Texas Science and Engineering Fair (TXSEF) this upcoming 2018 competition. From wanting to participate in the STEM Academy to learn more about what lays in the near future to
I am interested in attending the USNA summer STEM program because I have the desire to one day attend the United States Naval Academy and for my love of science, biology in particular. I believe that gaining the exposure to the academy's campus and the various STEM activities provided will cause me to become even more determined in reaching my goals. I also bring the aspect of military lifestyle and the long term future goal of becoming an officer in the United States Navy into my reason of interest in the program. I would be very proud and honored to graduate from the academy and go on to serve in the United States Navy, fighting for, and retaining the freedom many before me have fought to gain and protect. In potentially increasing my knowledge
More than 2,000 qualified young adults apply to participate in the annual Naval Academy Summer Seminar but only 850 of said applicants are selected to participate in each of the sessions. Knowing that the summer seminar deals with STEM and the Navy, I quickly applied myself so I can be one of those 850 selected young adults and participate in a science, technology, engineering, and math-loving atmosphere. I am interested in attending the Naval Academy Summer Stem program because I live and breathe science and engineering. I want to continue my path to higher education through the Naval Academy one day.
Being raised in a very STEM-centric family, I began to realize the importance of STEM at an early age from spending time with my parents during school breaks. My mother is a professor of electrical engineering at Georgia Tech and my father is a civil engineer who works for Georgia Power. I played around with Scratch and small robots when I was very young, spending a lot of time at Georgia Tech. What we, humans, can create fascinates me. I
I became interested in the STEM camp because I believe this camp will benefit me an enormous deal in the future. Attending the camp will support my future academic goals. In college, I intend to specialize in science, math, and technology. The STEM camp will help develop my educational interests and provide a glimpse into what I can expect from studying the areas of math, science and technology and engineering. I know that my future career will involve knowledge in these subjects and I want to do everything possible to allow myself to be exposed to whatever educational opportunities that can help me develop these skills. I would also like to have an experience at UTRGV because it is one of my possible college choices at this
Being part of the Science National Honor Society has been something that I have wanted to be a part of since my sophomore year. The wonders of science is something that has always interested me. Becoming a member of the Science National Honor Society will help me learn even more about the wonders of science outside of a classroom. I also believe that being part of SNHS will help me interact with other fellow classmates that I might not interact with during the school day. It also make me more confident to speak to new people.
My acceptance into the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program became one of my greatest experiences at North County High School. Throughout my STEM classes, I had learned to think more critically and creatively. STEM required us to collaborate to solve problems. This collaboration taught me proper communication and strong leadership skills which I utilized effectively during summer bridge projects and the community challenge projects that we did each year. One of the most significant community challenge projects that I did with a partner was design and print, using a 3-D printer provided from my school to create a cookie cutting prototype that helped modernize the production of cookies for a local bakery owner. Through
As I mentioned in my first essay, I wish to pursue a career in either the medical field or technologies that contribute to the medical field. Both interests deal directly with STEM. STEM is a gateway for me to live my dreams and succeed in a field that is difficult to enter without the correct steps taken and references known. Majoring in STEM would provide me the education and contacts needs to enter the medical or technological field at an advantage. I believe that STEM is truly a resource that allows students to focus on their studies more intently and unearth his/her passions in an academic world. For myself personally, STEM would help me to narrow down the fields of medicine and technology to the precise profession that suits my interests. Likewise, in a world that is creating new careers daily, STEM is one of the few pathways that adapts to the growing diversity of options, and facilitates ubiquitous knowledge for success no matter the circumstance. To me, that means that I can reach my hand into the currently unknown world and create my own course of action with certainty that I will meet success along my way. There is no better way to enjoy life, than to find a passion and chase after it, and I conclude that STEM will allow me to do
I would like to be a part of the Wheeler Magnet Program because it will be able to challenge my intelligence and allow me to view subjects from many different perspectives. I feel that students should be encouraged to look at things from many points of view and be more open minded. This will allow us to advance further in life by interactions and communications. I have always had a love for science and a want to pursue and obtain information that allows me to better understand the world and the events within it. A STEM program will let me participate and focus on the major subjects that affect my future, both in and outside of school.
I would really like the opportunity to attend Wake STEM Early College High School. When I attended open house I saw that the students were interested in the same kind of things as me. They were excited about learning and working on projects together. That is the kind of school where I could work best. I have wanted to be a Mechanical/Computer engineer for as long as I can remember. STEM HS would be a great start on the way to a good engineering school. The 1.5 - 2 years of college credits would help my family tremendously by saving a lot of money.
I’m interested in attending USNA Summer STEM because I have a strong interest in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. I plan on attending the United States Naval Academy and graduate as a Nuclear Reactor Engineer and serve my country for life. I have made strong connections with the staff at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and want to make great connections with the staff, cadets, and shipmates I’d be working alongside with at the academy. I hope to serve my country with Honor, Courage, and Commitment in the STEM field of the U.S. Navy.
I would love to attend Wake STEM Early College High School because I believe it will give me a head start on my learning after the high school level. Your program will improve my college experience and save thousands of dollars in college tuition by giving me an associates degree and high school diploma upon graduation. I am also exceedingly interested in a career in science or mathematics. I have always been focused on learning science and math because it is something I love to do and I can have a successful career in the future by using those skills. I understand that attending this prestigious school will require a certain level of maturity and willingness to work hard. As an 8th grader at West Lake Middle School, I am a member of the National
Racial profiling in the United States has become more of a hot topic in the past years more than ever before in the 21st century. With races butting heads on presidential elections, terrorist attacks, police brutality, and more that continues to separate our country than unite it. The Iron Triangle is in place to help, strengthen, and better the US Government and the citizens of the country. While the Iron Triangle has made the government a balanced machine, it has its flaws dealing with racial profiling and trying to find solutions in fixing them.
Throughout high school, I challenged myself by taking Advanced Placement math and science courses, such as chemistry, physics, and calculus. These classes jump started my interest in pursuing a STEM related career. I also had the opportunity to take an Introduction into Engineering and an Engineering
I want to participate in the STEM Matters NYC camp because it will give me a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view real life in a scientific perspective. This program will make math and science fun and interesting to learn and will explain the hidden mysteries that teachers in schools do not explain. In addition, science, technology, engineering, and math penetrates our everyday lives. For instance, science is all around us. Moreover, science perceives the answers to all of our
My true passion for engineering began when I came across the quote: "Technology are devices that make our lives better". Despite my first love of mathematics, my recent interest for engineering has come from two major influences. The first being my mathematics and physics teachers, both engineers by nature, who have helped me enhance the fundamental skills essential for engineering and embrace the importance of the field. The second being the learning about uses of technology in Computer Science, it taught me the magnitude of which technology contributes to our everyday lives has led me to intensify my desire to improve the lives of others.
