I am interested in attending the USNA summer STEM program because I have the desire to one day attend the United States Naval Academy and for my love of science, biology in particular. I believe that gaining the exposure to the academy's campus and the various STEM activities provided will cause me to become even more determined in reaching my goals. I also bring the aspect of military lifestyle and the long term future goal of becoming an officer in the United States Navy into my reason of interest in the program. More than 2,000 qualified young adults apply to participate in the annual Naval Academy Summer Seminar but only 850 of said applicants are selected to participate in each of the sessions. Knowing that the summer seminar deals with STEM and the Navy, I quickly applied myself so I can be one of those 850 selected young adults and participate in a science, technology, engineering, and math-loving atmosphere. I am interested in attending the Naval Academy Summer Stem program because I live and breathe science and engineering. I want to continue my path to higher education through the Naval Academy one day.

Being raised in a very STEM-centric family, I began to realize the importance of STEM at an early age from spending time with my parents during school breaks. Being part of the Science National Honor Society has been something that I have wanted to be a part of since my sophomore year. The wonders of science is something that has always interested me. Becoming a member of the Science National Honor Society will help me learn even more about the wonders of science outside of a classroom. My acceptance into the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program became one of my greatest experiences at North County High School. Throughout my STEM classes, I had learned to think more critically and creatively. STEM required us to collaborate to solve problems. As I mentioned in my first essay, I wish to pursue a career in either the medical field or technologies that contribute to the medical field. Both interests deal directly with STEM. STEM is a gateway for me to live my dreams and succeed in a field that is difficult to enter without the correct steps taken and references known. Majoring in STEM would provide me the education and contacts needs to enter the medical or technological field at an advantage. I believe that STEM is truly a resource that allows students to focus on their studies more intently and unearth his/her passions in an academic world. I would like to be a part of the Wheeler Magnet Program because it will be able to challenge my intelligence and allow me to view subjects from many different perspectives. I feel that students should be encouraged to look at things from many points of view and be more open minded. This will allow us to advance further in life by interactions and communications. I have always had a love for science and a want to pursue and obtain information that allows me to better understand the world and the events within it. A STEM program will let me participate and focus on the major subjects that affect my future, both in and outside of school.

I would really like the opportunity to attend Wake STEM Early College High School. When I attended open house I saw that the students were interested in the same kind of things as me. They were excited about learning and working on projects together. That is the kind of school where I could work best. I have wanted to be a Mechanical/Computer engineer for as long as I can remember. STEM HS would be a great start on the way to a good engineering school. The 1.5 - 2 years of college credits would help my family tremendously by saving a lot of money.

I’m interested in attending USNA Summer STEM because I have a strong interest in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. I plan on attending the United States Naval Academy and graduate as a Nuclear Reactor Engineer and serve my country for life. Racial profiling in the United States has become more of a hot topic in the past years more than ever before in the 21st century. With races butting heads on presidential elections, terrorist attacks, police brutality, and more that continues to separate our country than unite it. The Iron Triangle is in place to help, strengthen, and better the US Government and the citizens of the country. My true passion for engineering began when I came across the quote: "Technology are devices that make our lives better". Despite my first love of mathematics, my recent interest for engineering has come from two major influences. The first being my mathematics and physics teachers, both engineers by nature, who have helped me enhance the fundamental skills essential for engineering and embrace the importance of the field.
