Jesse Feiring Williams was born in 1886 in Kenton Ohio. He went on to graduate in 1909 from Oberlin College. During his time in Oberlin he became involved with physical education. He took summer classes in 1907 at Chautauqua Summer School of Physical Education. During his final years at Oberlin he was an athletic director and a coach for the college. When he was finished at Oberlin, he went on to teach physical education at the New York Institute for the Education of the Blind. In 1915 he earned his M.D. from Colombia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He then went on to coach multiple woman’s sports teams. He eventually had to stop coaching in 1919 when the military intervened for World War One, and he was put in charge of the
