Harry, Spells, and Joanne?
Bedtime was an enjoyable and engaging period where young children listened intently to elders reading endless amounts of stories and fairytales until these children reached a certain age of maturity and decided on reading the “big boy and girl” chapter books without any assistance. Therefore, many boys and girls had acquired enough courage to crack open and read the popular and major book series Harry Potter. From there on, children and adults alike were mesmerized and hooked on the magical and enchanting world filled with wizards, witches, and spells. However, as much as people can distinguish Harry Potter, very few are aware of the brain of it all, J.K. Rowling, who went through numerous hardships, setbacks, and

The infamous line, "You complete me," from the Jerry McQuire movie is a total crock and precisely why I think When Harry Met Sally is the absolute best romantic comedy EVERRR!!!
All this has added to the growing popularity of the Harry Potter brand that is everywhere today. Young readers can relate to Harry’s issues and the books create another world the readers can subconsciously ‘escape’ too.
Undoubtedly one of the most popular stories of the 21st century was Harry Potter, a series in which readers follow the life of a twelve year old boy who learns that he is magical. Throughout the novels aspects of magic are blended into the real world, portrayed by the setting Great Britain, which contains a large proportion of non-magical people, referred to as muggles. The way the author, J.K Rowling, set the book up and blended these two aspects, magic and realism, is analogous to the way John Irving wrote a Prayer for Owen Meany through the genre of magical realism. Furthermore, the use of this genre allowed for the development of John Irving’s main message. By setting the story in the realistic town of Gravesend, New Hampshire, and incorporating the exceptional religious character of Owen Meany, the author sets the scene to impart his thoughts upon readers. John Irving’s main message in a Prayer for Owen Meany is that not all people view the world using science and logical reason.
J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, which have reached worldwide popularity have an effect on children has not been matched by any other book. The novels have encouraged children to read for entertainment instead of turning to television or video games. When a piece of literature inspires children as the Harry Potter novels do, limiting a child’s access to the novels seems ridiculous. Unfortunately, this is what is happening with Harry Potter. The books are challenged and banned in schools and libraries all over the world because parents contend that the content is unsuitable. The content, which revolves around a world full of wizardry and witchcraft, has some parents actively
150 years ago, Helen (Beatrix) Potter, one of best known children’s author, was born July 28th, 1866 in London, England. Both of her parents were interested in art and as a result, Helen had the opportunity to meet other important artists. During her early childhood, she and her brother were fascinated by things in nature and sketching animals was one of her favorite things to do. As she grew up, she studied at the National Art Training School in the late 1870s to help with her develop her talents.
Literary heroes that are also ordinary children are engaging to readers, particularly child readers. James Pope and Julia Round write that “Roald Dahl is a fascinating author in that his books for children feature child heroes who are very often neither hero nor villain, but a wild, subversive combination of both” (258). These characteristics are also true of Coraline and Harry Potter, as they are presented as imperfect, but ultimately find the power within themselves to save what is important to them. Children readers are empowered by Coraline and Harry because they identify with these ordinary children and feel as if they can also make a difference in their lives, as the characters defeat the evil in theirs.
J.k Rowling is an author best known for her harry potter series and founder of Lumos a charity dedicated to saving children in institutions where they are forced out of all individualism, have no personal belongings, schooling or normally any food. The name Lumos came from a spell in her harry potter series to put light into dark places. Lumos helps the sick , disabled and unwealthy children forced into institutions by poverty and discrimination or purely by the lack of social services in the areas of the world where for some the only way to get an education at all is to go to a institution
Joanne’s younger sister Dianne Rowling and her mother (Anne Volant Rowling) was her major source of courage and support throughout her life, particularly when Joanne did not get along with her father (Peter Rowling) in her childhood and when she formed a negative self-image of herself, after her recent divorce with Jorge Arantes, a Portuguese journalist. This particular support network is accessible for most people. Furthermore, this particular support network is successful because these individuals have supported Joanne in different ways in both minor and major situations, and because of their continuous support, Joanne was able to surmount arduous
Rowling’s life as an adult was filled with the frustration of financial hardships and love. Eventually marrying him, but ending in a brutal divorce, “in March 1992, during such an outing at a bar named Meia Cava, Rowling was introduced to a young journalism student named Jorge Arantes” (Teaching in Portugal and First Marriage 1). The couple had several fights when they were dating including one at a café where Arantes physically abused Rowling, causing her to run to a nearby school, and hide in one of the classrooms. Later, the police had
J.K. Rowling. There are few in the world now who do not know her name. Rowling’s seven-book Harry Potter series has spawned movies, numerous games, clothing, toy lines, as well as many other items. Have you ever wondered who would win in a battle between Gandalf and Dumbledore? Whose force was more powerful? I will be discussing and also comparing the books “Lord of The Rings” by J.R.R Tolkien and “Harry Potter” by J.K Rowling. Both books were a huge success and are widely known but simply which series was better?
The author behind this controversial narrative has become one of the world’s most decorated authors due to the widespread success of her novels. Although she is well-known today, Rowling had very humble beginnings. Born on July 31, 1965 to Peter and Anne Rowling, Joanne became the newest addition to her family beside her older sister, Diana. During her childhood, Rowling lived in several different places throughout Great Britain. Her family moved from Chipping Sodbury to Winterbourne, and then again to Tutshill (“J.K. Rowling”).
From an extremely young age, I was subjected to children’s stories. Obviously, the classics: Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Little Red Riding Hood. However, more mature tales like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Divergent also had a considerable amount of runtime in my childhood. Looking back on the staples of my literary formation, I feel that the evolution of these books is interesting, and worthy of a closer inspection.
