Introduction
In this paper, I will attempt to accomplish several objectives dealing with the effectiveness and criticality of having a leadership development plan on the global scale. This paper will discuss global leadership concerns for the future, identify an emerging leadership theory that could guide a global agenda, determine the level of responsibility a professional has to prepare themselves as a leader and finally, establish a personal plan that will implement my developmental goals, a summary of action steps, report progress along each step and how the plan will support and enhance growth within myself and others.

According Brian O 'Nail, the author of Test Your Leadership Skills, "leadership is influencing people to get things done to a standard and quality above their norm. And doing it willingly." As a global leader I believe that all of Gardner’s five minds are essential. Gardner’s five minds are the disciplined mind, the synthesizing mind, the creating mind, the respectful mind and the ethical mind.
1. The disciplined mind: The ability to delve deep that is associated with expertise in a certain field of scholarship or the professions.
2. The synthesizing mind: The ability to pick and choose among an array of information from several disciplines so that the resulting explanation makes sense.
3. The creating mind: The ability to go beyond existing knowledge to forge new ground, "pose new questions, offer new solutions" (Gardner, 2008, p. 156).
4. The respectful mind: The ability to appreciate and welcome all forms of diversity.
5. The ethical mind: The ability to seek both good work and good citizenship.

According to Webster’s Dictionary, leadership is the power or ability to lead other people, the act or instance of leading. I believe that Leadership is an art, the art to get others to follow and accomplish a common goal or task in a harmonic manner. A leader can be shown in all kinds of shapes and forms. To be a great leader many people believe it consists of modeling the way, inspiring a shared vision, enabling others to act, and encouraging the heart. According to Business Dictionary.com, leadership is defined as the individuals who are the leaders in an organization, regarded collectively. It also can be define as the activity of leading a group of people or an organization or the ability to do this. Leadership involves the establishing of a clear vision, sharing the vision with other so that they will follow willingly, providing the needed information, knowledge, and methods to realize the vision and coordinating and balancing the conflicts interests of all members and stakeholders.
The Representational Theory of Mind proposes that we, as both physiological and mental beings, are systems which operate based on symbols and interpretations of the meanings of such symbols rather than beings which operate just on physiological processes (chemical reactions and biological processes). It offers that humans and their Minds are computing machines, mental software (the Mind) which runs on physical hardware (the body). Leadership development plan is only practical like the theories behind the idea. Basically, before a person plan, one must know and understand the mission to be accomplished. Good theories are significant and logical and important to comprehend that many accepted leadership principles are difficult to integrate an actionable behavior. A leadership plan helps in understanding and enhancing to lead organizations, employees and groups. The most valuable skill for a leader is the capacity to manage their individual learning. A highly motivated and principled person can attain a great degree of understanding, when they form a leadership plan. The document needs to be written down and be accessible and accommodate new insights. Preparation of a leadership plan has to take into consideration the first plan being a rough draft.
The sum of education, experiences, and observations lays a foundation upon which I will grow to become a good leader. In this plan, I will focused on those aspects of leadership that I believe are most required for personal development as well as those which will be so significant for my future leadership career. I have identified three goals which will guide me in the development process. My goals are to develop my integrity, listening skills and communications skills. I assume that this plan will change and be altered as required by life circumstances.
My Personal Leadership Development Plan (PLPD), will demonstrate my awareness of great leadership and how it not only establishes the course and destination of my team, but it also equips others to effectively and efficiently follow by providing education, training, resources, and support as necessary. My study of the Full Range Leadership Model (FRLM) was important to me accessing my leadership strengths and weaknesses, and developing an action plan that includes setting goals, establishing priorities, appropriating gifts, talents, and creativity, and utilizing resources. As a leader, I am empowered to impact my followers to rise to, and when necessary, go beyond their believed potential.
Over the years, a great deal of time, and research has been dedicate to the study of leadership. Even with extensive data on the topic, many still disagree on what leadership really means. Hence, leadership is a word that has many different meanings and different researched theories associated with it. On a basic level, leadership involves having and establishing a clear vision, sharing that vision with followers, respecting followers, and leading an organization with excellence while ensuring that everyone is part of the team. Leadership is also a method by which a leader uses his or her influence towards getting a group of followers to take ownership or buy into a vision.
Leadership is a difficult word to define and according to the Miriam-Webster Dictionary leadership is the “office or position of a leader” (Miriam-Webster, 2010). This definition is definitely not one that I would ascribe to when discussing leadership. My definition of leadership is “the ability someone has to motivate and empower others to achieve a goal.” Some may add to this definition, others may discard it altogether and have a completely different definition. In the end, leadership takes on many different forms depending on who is doing the defining and we end up asking ourselves, what is leadership and why do we care?
