Learning patterns are important to know so you can understand the work you are doing. When I was young, something I found it hard to understand and I just couldn't get why was it so hard for me to comprehend the work that was assigned. Now that I am older and pay more attention to my learning patterns, whatever I am doing throughout my life doesn't seem hard or un doable. Yes, I use all of the learning patterns but the top two patterns that stick out the most is Sequence and Precise.
I am a person who likes to have some kind of order to things and I love to have full and clear directions when giving a task. I use sequence in managing my household. I use procedures to help me effectively run my house. I really don't like last minute situations
I am able to analyze and solve problems, as well as follow through with direction and coordination. I feel more comfortable when something is completed with organization, but also in a timely manner. I am able to follow through with time management skills, but I also feel as I need to work hard to achieve these skills so that I can be my very
Throughout my high school and early college career, the concept of a learning style is far from foreign. I have learned of the three main learning styles: auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. I have taken multiple tests and found out what my learning style is and that it has not changed much throughout my educational career. Earlier in this course, I learned that I need to adapt the way the teacher is teaching to the learning style that best suits me. My learning style is mainly visual and kinesthetic. However, the questionnaire created by Barbara Soloman and Richard Felder has given me a lot more insight to my learning style. I have learned more about my learning style such as what type of learner I am, how I learn best, my preferred way to
After learning the different learning patterns, I realized that many things can be classified and grouped simply by finding the pattern. In other words, we never really realize there are patterns in our actions and everyday processes until they are titled and classified. The thinking and learning process is an amazing thing and knowing in what order we perform these operations can help us to accomplish goals more realistically, knowing our capabilities and realistic abilities will enable us to both learn more efficiently as well as expand our mind and try to utilize every aspect of the learning process and strengthen our
In order to effectively teach students with different learning styles, I will most likely be using this website for ideas. Education.com has everything. They tell you how to know what styles your children are better with and give you some activities that you can use to reach all of those students. On their site, you can find specific activities for any grade, or subject, up through high school. For example, I will be teaching third grade so I would go and look under third grade and then go under whatever subject I need, such as math. Once there, I just scroll through and pick an activity that allows student to interact with each other while practicing the subject and having fun. I can also use
Precise is my use first, I feel this learning pattern is the one I use the most, the reason being I always have task to complete and I will not quit until it is accurate and correct, I will go over and over it again until I feel it is what is required of me to do. When a new task is brought to me I need to know all the details, what do you want me to do, how do you want it represented, when do you want it done, why is it required to do it. Once you give me all the details and I have asked a hundred questions- because I will and I feel comfortable
Diamond Canyon is the school I am doing my placement in. It is located in anthem right across the street from the Anthem Country Club. The community of Anthem is pretty tight knit and they all work together to achieve the same goals. Anthem is a mid- high class community. Although this school teaches students from New River as well. New River is a lot of families who are in construction or made good money in labor intensive jobs. Most of the homes in New River are farms or small ranches. The schools up here are competitive but a majority of the students are all friends no matter what school they go to. The community is inclusive and has a large number
I chose to do my analysis on my fiancé Kentrall. Anyone that knows him can easily point out his learning pattern. According to the LCI test he is a strong-willed learner. His use first learning patterns are confluence, Technical reasoning, and precision. He uses sequence as needed. We are definitely opposites, he thinks that he can fix anything without reading the instructions. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.
My example of sequence learning is when I was taking a dental radiology class. I was extra cautious when it came time for me to actually take radiographs on an actual patient. I made sure I remembered every single step to avoid any possible mistakes. I had asked my instructor multiple times to check the position of the x-ray film so I didn't radiate the patient unnecessarily. I took my time with every single radiograph to ensure I was doing my best for the patient. I also wanted to pass the class of course. I have really god organizational skills and I like to keep every thing neat and tidy.
After taking the assessment, it has been determined I'm a Dynamic Learner. This is something that I've known; however, it's good to put a name with it.
I really enjoyed preparing this Discussion on how my learning patterns play a role in my interactions with my best friend Shameika. After reviewing her LCI I found that she is a Strong-Willed learner like myself, however she scored Use First for all 4 patterns and I was on the borderline for 1 of the learning patterns.
Judging from the actions of my only child, I would say she is a use first technical reasoning, use as needed confluence, and avoid precision and use as needed sequence. A person with use first technical reasoning thinks within their own mind frame, and asks few questions. Khandace, which is my 19 year old’s name, does just that. She asks questions, but it’s mostly after the mistake has been made. This year she got her first income tax check. She planned to purchase a car, but does not have a driver’s license. Instead of obtaining a license, she came up with the brilliant idea of putting the registration in someone else’s name. Confluence user’s think outside of the lines regularly. The problem came when she
Sequence almost describes me as well as I could describe myself. I am the type of person that if you give me a job, it will get done at all cost if you provide me with every detail. The job will be done to the specifics. When the job is at hand, I will not wait until the job is completed to pick up the excess. I think with clarity not clutter, I like to keep things organized. I always want to start a job from the beginning, if all possible nothing is worse than fixing someone else’s mistakes.
Problem-based learning (PBL) has been a great new learning experience throughout this semester. Throughout the course of the semester, I feel that I have learned many new skills that I can use and apply throughout my career as an occupational therapist (OT). First, I believe that PBL has taught me to be a better problem solver. Each week, a new piece of a case was given to us and each week the goal was to dissect this case into objective, measurable outcomes. In the beginning, I often found myself getting too caught up in the minute details of the case. Although details are important, through PBL I have learned to focus my attention onto details of the story that are larger and more measurable. As a future OT, I need to be able to formulate
Additionally, deductive reasoning is where general principles guide individuals as they analyze specific situations. I was able to utilize my deductive reasoning skills when I noticed a dip in a specific industries advertising levels. I was able to deduce the reason and take action to regain a portion of that business.
With the realization that not every child is the same, or learns the same as another, teachers need to take the steps necessary to ensure that their students are all getting educational opportunities that work the best for them. The idea of personalized learning has been around for quite some time, yet not all teachers seem to have the same understanding of what it is and how it works. The article “What is ‘Personalized Learning’? Educators Seek Clarity”, mentions three important aspects of the problem; an outline of the general solution, emphasizes “essential elements”, and brings the problem into the hands of students. Teachers need to have a basic understanding on how to personalize their students learning because every child learns differently from the next.
