By using educationplanner.org, acceleratedlearning.com and engr.ncsu.edu and their respective learning style tools, I have discovered more about how I like to learn. I have found that I enjoy mainly learning from visual sources. From each website, it is clear that I have a large desire to learn visually. Through my experience with school and these past few weeks of university, these learning styles tools agree with my presumptions. I have developed a habit to keep my work visually organised so I can process it better, such as using different colours when making notes as well as keeping the information neat. I also have found that when I am intensively listening and looking to a teacher or lecturer while making short notes I learn better than when focusing on note taking. By using this new knowledge, I will make sure to stick by this and …show more content…
I can agree with this, as I am currently doing mathematics and mathematic related units and I enjoy them. This also contributes to my desire for organisation in my note taking. I will make sure to consistently follow this logical approach to work, especially in consideration with organisation. The picture also shows me to be a musically orientated person, however by experience I find music is often distracting rather than beneficial when I am trying to understand difficult concepts or go through challenging tasks. In all other areas, I am not greatly on one end of the scale or the other, at least to a point where I feel like I can relate to it. Reflecting back on my past study, it largely depends on the topic at hand as to which approach I took. For example, when dealing with a particularly difficult idea, I would watch videos relating to it at home, complete problems and take notes, in addition to in class time. However with repetitive work which I understood, I would listen to music and complete problem after
Before taking the Learning Style Inventory, I always felt I was mostly a tactile learner. I would be able to learn in a visual fashion if need be, but I would rather learn and by doing and making mistakes. After taking the Learning Style Inventory, the results definitely supported my initial thoughts. My tactile preference was 14 points higher than my auditory score, but only 2 points higher than my visual. Although I believe I will always will be a stronger tactile learner, my visual learner skills have been improving throughout my college learning experience. Plus, it’s important to note that many tactile learning situations are dependent on visual learning. This means that tactilely learning has been strengthening my visual learning skills.
Whether you believe learning styles are a myth or fact they still can help you learn the material for class. Just because you take this test online and it says that you are one hundred percent auditory learner doesn’t mean you can’t learn other ways. Learning styles can help you discover more creative ways for you to remember a topic or specific details. How Amy made a poster it helped her present her topic but also helped her learn and remember her topic. By writing it down and being creative you will remember the topic a lot better. I’m not a firm believer in learning styles but I do think that they can help. I am an auditory learner so listening helps me learn although it isn’t the only way I can learn. One of the ken talks we had watched
In the learning styles test, it resulted that I am a visual learner. I believe that this is true because I would rather to see a demonstration of what I am supposed to do so I can be able to do it by myself later on. It is effective for me when I am studying because I can remember what I saw as opposed to what I heard. Also, I get distracted easily therefore if a class session tends to be long and only involves discussions and talking, I tend to space out a lot. The results says that visual learners should always be sure to look at the study materials and make use of flash cards, which I tend to do all the time. In the value assessment section, I did the Rokeach Value Survey and this was a great one. It helped to prioritize terminal and instrumental
A learning style is a particular way in which the mind receives and processes information. There are four types of Learning Styles: Visual (Sight), Auditory (Talk), Tactile (Hands-on),, and . I am an auditory learner which means I'm a talker. My weak learning style is
In preparation for an exam or in class assignment, studying consists of me to completing a series of math problems over and over and/or reading material multiple times. While completing assignments and test I can often close my eyes and visualize information on a page without it being directly in front of me. Notes are often color coded and or written in colored pen. As a visual learner it will be
Your child/student took a “Learning Styles Inventory” last week to determine how they learn best. They discovered that they were a visual, an auditory, or a kinesthetic learner.
Learning styles can and will reflect personalities and have a substantial impact on your professional developments. Effective learning and effective thinking will help increase the speed of success and is necessary to continue learning to have a greater understanding of the work we do to be competent and influential to you and the organisation's wealth and have a competitive edge on the rest of industry in this fluctuating market and all styles are just as important as the other. After completing the SmaterMeasure Assessment and viewing the Learning Styles Tutorial, I found out that my two top learning styles are physical and social learning styles. The person with physical learning style learns better with an instruction that it allows students to have hands-on activities and use a touch of the senses. The person with social learning styles can benefit from a group discussions and interactions. I agree with the assessment because I like to learn by doing, and hands-on activities and experiments are the most helpful activities for me to learn new things. I also like to have a discussion about what I learn with peers and can benefit from it.
According to my Learning Style Inventory (LSI) graph, my learning style profile is located mostly in the lower right-hand corner of the graph. This means that my preferred mode for learning is in Mode 2. I believe it is accurate because I like watching and thinking when learning new concepts. For example, when learning new theories and formulas in Calculus, I need to see how the professor tackles a question using the formulas. This helps me analyze and master the concepts within the new lesson. Another example of mode 2 is I like watching Youtube videos that give more details and facts about a concept, especially in Science. This is because my mind quickly processes the information that are very visual and important about a topic. Furthermore,
In my school career I have found that there are many different learning styles, and although a person can be more than one, which I happen to think I am, most of us typically are just “one” type of learner. According to the “Learning Style Survey,” my results ended up being a “visual learner,” (Bixler, "Learning Style Inventory"). I found these results to be very accurate. I learned at an early age that I was more of a visual learner, I always needed to look at what I was learning, this gave me a sense of understanding.
The topic under discussion within this paper is that of learning styles and how each individual has a dominant way of learning. There are many types of ,learning styles which are being discussed throughtout the paper and the succussfulness of these theories. There is also a reflective account to the learning styles presentation and how effective this was within a group, presented through kolbs learning style cycle.
Having reviewed Learning-Style Characteristics of Adult Learners, I've decided to discuss the emotional and sociological stimulus strands of the Dunn & Dunn Learning-Style Model. I intend to delve into the different qualifiers for each aforementioned strand, outlining what elements constitute emotional or sociological stimuli, and provide correlating personal insights. Also, I'd like to convey this information, not only as a tool for adults attending college, as something relative in various facets of life.
The experience we have of a course determines the amount of information we get out of it. While many of us have had a bad experience in a course, we may have just chalked it up to the material being too difficult; while that may have been the reason, the more likely reason is that your learning style did not match the teaching style of your professor. We all learn and think in different ways and my experience a vast difference in learning and teaching style can ruin the experience you have in a course. After taking a learning style survey and seeing somewhat different results than what I had expected to see, I had to take a step back and reevaluate the way I thought I learned.
My learning style is a visual learner. I am able to comprehend and work to the best of my ability when I am able to see the problem and the work written to solve it. Seeing/taking detailed notes is easier for me to learn a lesson than listening to a discussion because I can see the work and word terms without worrying about forgetting them. I learn best as a visual learner because I am able to see all the steps to solve a problem and I am able to figure out where I might need to fix a mistake. During math class in eighth grade, I was able to completely understand a lesson that I considered confusing in previous years. Another time during math class, I got a good grade on a test, when I thought I was going to get a C. There are many things that
As a student I will have to collaborate with various students whom have different working and learning styles than me. Therefore, it’s important to recognise what type of learners we are in order to success in a teamwork, identify how you team learn and understand your most suitable way to comprehension details/information. According to (Browne, 2016) there are numerous learning styles like Honey and Mumford and VAK. Moreover, I believe Visual style is the best learning style to identify me. There are endless reasons, for example; I prefer learning new things from colorful images, pictures or diagrams because it has a perfect spatial comprehending for me. That’s why I made most of my power-point in the final group project with images and diagrams. Besides that, utilizing my own visual assists me to write massive notes. I usually close my eyes to imagine and recollect something (Schoolonwheels.org, n.d). I beleieve
