What Is Your Learning Style? The way that an individual learns can shape their entire life. I personally struggle when it comes to learning topics within math and sciences. After reading about the different learning styles I understand better as to why that is. It is common sense that everyone is different, so it makes sense that we all learn differently. There are eight learning styles that were outlined and discussed in the textbook. While reading and researching about them I was able to easily put each of the learning styles into three categories: (1) I have those characteristics, (2) I have some of those characteristics, and (3) I am definitely not that. Interpersonal learning style refers to a person's ability to interact with and understand other people and social situations. I am someone who needs interaction with others and to feel like I am contributing to society. As an interpersonal learner, I prefer learning through communication and interaction. I believe that my ability to solve problems comes easier by being an interpersonal learner. I like to hear the opinions, views, and past experiences of others to assist me in seeing all points of a topic and develop a solution. Part of being an interpersonal learner is being able to read others and being able to receive and provide feedback. Being an interpersonal learner has allowed me to be an organized and effective leader and problem solver within my current profession. I work on daily bases with international students in helping them navigate through life in a new environment and problem solve. If I was not an interpersonal learner I would not be able to be successful in this
Your child/student took a “Learning Styles Inventory” last week to determine how they learn best. They discovered that they were a visual, an auditory, or a kinesthetic learner.
There are three different kinds of learning styles, there’s auditory learner, tactical learner, and also visual learner. If you take a test like I did you can find what kind of learning styles you are best at. An auditory learner is when you learn better by listening to something or someone. A tactical learner is when you learn best by touching and feeling something or someone and that means that it can be a hands on activity. And a visual learner is when you learn finer when you’re looking at something or someone that is showing a demonstration. When I took the learning styles test I got the results of, tactical learner 40%, auditory learner 35%, and visual learner 25%. So I am best at a tactical learner, which means I learn best by touching
Whether you believe learning styles are a myth or fact they still can help you learn the material for class. Just because you take this test online and it says that you are one hundred percent auditory learner doesn’t mean you can’t learn other ways. Learning styles can help you discover more creative ways for you to remember a topic or specific details. How Amy made a poster it helped her present her topic but also helped her learn and remember her topic. By writing it down and being creative you will remember the topic a lot better. I’m not a firm believer in learning styles but I do think that they can help. I am an auditory learner so listening helps me learn although it isn’t the only way I can learn. In order to effectively teach students with different learning styles, I will most likely be using this website for ideas. Education.com has everything. They tell you how to know what styles your children are better with and give you some activities that you can use to reach all of those students. On their site, you can find specific activities for any grade, or subject, up through high school. For example, I will be teaching third grade so I would go and look under third grade and then go under whatever subject I need, such as math. After completing the assessment, the inventory concludes that my learning style is predominantly feeling and concrete experiences. For concrete experience, my score of 43 reveals my passion to learn information that I believe is relevant for myself. Subsequently, scoring 34 for active experimentation indicates my preference for applying and testing ideas to understand a concept. Additionally, scoring 25 for reflective observation reveals how I learn concepts through observing others complete a task. Scoring 18 for abstract conceptualization indicates how my learning style does not depend on facts and figure. With all of these learning styles, my graph illustrates strong areas in mode 4 and 1, however, it is immensely low in mode 2 and 1. Overall, my results showcase that I belong in mode 4 learning. I find it easier for me to learn by visualizing information rather than just hearing about. 3. I am going to use the information that I received from the Learning Styles by preparing myself for this class and the upcoming ones. Now that I know what learning style I am, it will be easier for me to apply it to my education and schooling. This learning style will help me prepare for all my classes and for the future career too.
Before taking the Learning Style Inventory, I always felt I was mostly a tactile learner. I would be able to learn in a visual fashion if need be, but I would rather learn and by doing and making mistakes. After taking the Learning Style Inventory, the results definitely supported my initial thoughts. My tactile preference was 14 points higher than my auditory score, but only 2 points higher than my visual. Although I believe I will always will be a stronger tactile learner, my visual learner skills have been improving throughout my college learning experience. Plus, it’s important to note that many tactile learning situations are dependent on visual learning. This means that tactilely learning has been strengthening my visual learning skills.
Everyone learns in different ways, and that is exactly why more than one learning styles exist; to fulfil everyone’s needs! Although each learning styles are different, all are certainly effective in their own unique ways.

Influences on Learning Styles. What influences my learning style. Everybody is affected by what is going on around him or her and this influences the way in which we work. I prefer to work at college rather than at home, things going on around me far too easily distract me and this makes it hard to focus and complete my assignments. I place my son in day care during the week, which enables me to go to college where I have access to resources and I am in a learning environment with fewer distractions.

According to my Learning Style Inventory (LSI) graph, my learning style profile is located mostly in the lower right-hand corner of the graph. This means that my preferred mode for learning is in Mode 2. I believe it is accurate because I like watching and thinking when learning new concepts. For example, when learning new theories and formulas in Calculus, I need to see how the professor tackles a question using the formulas. This helps me analyze and master the concepts within the new lesson. At the beginning of the semester an assignment was given out in regards to assessing your learning styles. Upon doing the assignment I felt that I already knew the results I would obtain due to the fact that I did the same assignment my sophomore year of college. I was totally surprised with my results because they showed that I am becoming a more balanced learner. In previous assignments the results would usually show that I am more of one type of learner than another. My learning styles reflected that I am an active, sensory, visual and global learner. Knowing this aided in my success in this class as well as others because I started to apply this information into how I prepared or retained information for classes.

With careful review, I have developed a specific analysis of my learning characteristics, including an evaluation of skill levels. Based on what I have recently learned and know from experience, I have also devised a structured plan for improvement of time management and study skills.
