“Community, we are better together,” is something that is constantly being said at the church where I attend school, Lifepoint Church (Beliefs & Values). This is one of our main values because we firmly believe that God didn’t create us to do life alone. He created us to do life together, to encourage one another, to go through the struggles together, etc. For this reason we encourage those who attend our church to become part of a small group. By doing life with others through a small group you are able to create strong, lasting relationships with others, grow in your faith, and encourage others.
When you spend two hours with the same group of people every week for a long period of time you are going to form relationships with them. This

Lifepoint Church discusses this on their small group page, “We believe life change happens more frequently in the circles of small groups than in the rows of our weekend services” (Small Groups). You would be surprised how spending time with others will affect you. The people whom you surround yourself with are going affect you, either for the good or bad. Wouldn’t you want to surround yourself with people who are going to encourage you and make you want to draw closer to Jesus? You can do just that by joining a small group. There are even specific small groups for those who are just beginning their relationship with Jesus or those who are in college. You can find a small group that is ideal for you in this season and where you are in your relationship with God. By surrounding yourself with people who have similar interests or who have been in similar situations or had similar struggles you can grow in your faith and learn from …show more content…
You can do this by simply being a part of a small group or leading a small group. When you are a part of a small group you are surrounded with many different people who are each going through different things. You may be able to encourage at least someone who is a part of your small group. When I was a part of the high school girls small group at my youth group, I was able to encourage those who were struggling with things that I struggled with in the past and those who were younger than me. Through encouraging others, I was actually growing in my faith and relationship with God. Even if you feel as though you’d be the last person to encourage someone, being in a small group gives you the ideal opportunity to do so. As you spend time with those in your small group you’ll become more comfortable with them and feel comfortable encouraging them and speaking life into
I understand that the gifts of the Holy Spirit will help me build up the church, and I wish to share in building up the Church by helping my friends come closer to God. Building up the
In my experience at first progressive Baptist Church I was very much out of my comfort zone because not only did I not feel as welcomed but it was a little awkward because of all the looks I was receiving. I felt I was not dressed as they were and felt as if I didn't fit in and right away I just didn't feel appropriate with my attire. While I was there I actually had people wanting to shake hands and asking me questions about me coming and there was one man who just stared at me and so it was uncomfortable and didn't know how to react. While I was there I started to notice that there is a little difference from the church I go to and the music was way different as well, everyone will talk back with amen or thank you Jesus. The difference
What is a Christian community? This is a question I didn't know the answer to until last summer. I was living a life of disobeying one of God's commands and had no idea. Even though I am a sinful person and I sin everyday and have struggles just like everyone else. I was very confused, but I am glad my eyes were open to what the community is and how important it is in daily life as a follower of Christ. My eyes were open when I went to a teen leadership conference at Summit University in Pennsylvania. My faith plays a big role in my life, but one thing specifically, I have been challenged in my faith is community. Learning about community opened my eye to something I haven't been doing, but know it has formed me into a stronger believer in
I currently attend and work at a church with 2000+ regular attendees. We currently have over 40 small groups that meet on a weekly basis. Small groups are at the core of what we do. Beginning at age 3, we believe that the small group is THE place to grow more like Jesus and practice the “one anothers” with one another.
Total Church: A Radical Reshaping around Gospel and Community by Tim Chester and Steve Timmis emphasizes the two overarching principles that govern the practice of church and mission, that is: Being gospel centered and being community centered, where the content of our message is the gospel, and the context of our message the Christian community. Only when those principles are put into practice does the Word is carried away, with the mission of the church being carried out and the mission of the church of making relationships a priority is carried out.
I agree with you, the traveler is very caring person and the moment he knew there is another life alive he stopped. The traveler is very emotional and wanted save both lives, the fawn and people who travel by that deer. But when he knew he can't do anything he did the right thing to push her away in the canyon.
Living in community will expose selfishness, ambition, jealousy, dissension and impurity in ourselves, allowing us to experience loss, despair, and stress. Even so, all of this is important to our spiritual formation because we mature as Christians,
This a great example how the Holy Spirit guides God's children to reach out to people. The pastor did not make the call. The Lord guided him to approach this person in that manner and the end result was returning to the Lord.
God knows, loneliness can eat at our sense of well-being. Being new in a community often accentuates that longing to love and be loved. And this is as it should be. God means for the church to be a place to build long-term caring relationships, to be a community in every sense of that word.
While Fellowshipping with other like-minded Christians, we should encourage each other. Sharing prayer rets, Believers should pray for and ruminate each other daily. The following statement is a surprisingly and sadly plausible problem for people . “I do not feel comfortable talking to others about my problems and concerns.” This statement is a surprisingly and sadly plausible problem for people. As Romans 15:5-6 says “Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”, Christians within the church are to have a irreplaceable and comforting bond, which is like that of a family, and trust one another with troublesome prayer rets to glorify God and further our relationship with Him and our church. To create a familial environment in church, as touched on previously, we should unify ourselves with each other. Christians fellowship with each
On April 11th, 2017, I attended mass in the Blessed Edmund Chapel. Unlike other weekday masses, this one was scheduled at 7 AM because of it being Holy Tuesday. Never having been to a Catholic mass before, all of this was a new experience. Growing up in a non-denominational Christian household, I did not have a clue what to expect. From this experience, I was able to gain insight into the Catholic practices and how they conduct their masses. It also helped to expand on the teachings we discussed in religion class.
Now I want to recuperate what I was explaining concerning the church and back to what I had alleged to earlier as regards to foreshadowing. First after seeing what took place at my Apt, jobs and public places you can now estimate what transpired even at church. As I mentioned earlier the church is the one place in which I assumed that I would at all times be safe I have been going to this church for over 10 years and have been involved in many Sunday school classes, small groups, bible studies and service. Not to mention that I have known many of the members there for a numerous amount of time there are members whom I have known from the church I grew up in . So I was confident that I would be unharmed there. Nevertheless the ideology likewise spread in the church.
Throughout my life I have been involved with church, school, sports, community, and family while maintaining a high GPA. I believe I have developed this desire to be involved because of my background. I have a twenty-five year old brother with special needs who has always required a tremendous amount of care. Witnessing the daily hurdles he has had to cross has given me perspective regarding how people should be treated and cared for. I strive to improve not only myself, but the lives of the people around me. Church involvement has allowed me accomplish this. Helping with the church’s annual chicken stew, volunteering at local organizations such as One Place, and playing in the praise and worship band are just a few of the opportunities I have
One of the best things about being part of a small group Bible study is having the opportunity to meet on a regular basis with an intimate group of other believers. While attending church and church wide events is a great way to follow God's urging that we have "fellowship one with another," sometimes, there are so many people in church, that you may never feel like you're
Believers need one another to help each other grow and mature in the faith. Relationships should also be developed in the home, workplace, and community. Families are to raise their children and instruct them in the Word of God, always teaching them about the Lord. It is essential that disciple making begins in the home. Further, the church has the responsibility for equipping the saints for the work of ministry. Evangelists are to go out and make disciples, pastor-teachers are then to equip the saints to do the same. Once believers are trained and equipped for the work of ministry, they will begin to form relationships and to disciple one another. It is essential that the body work together in unity and harmony. If there is unity, then the body will work together as one body, to do the will and work of God—and that is to go and preach the gospel and make
