Prom Night
The ringing of my alarm clock woke me up; I reached for it to make it stop. Still in my bed, I began to stretch a bit. I barely slept the night before, I was to excite for prom. It was already late Thursday morning, the sun was gleaming through my windows and I knew I had a lot to get done. My mom entered my room “It’s prom day!” she squealed. She seemed more excited about my prom than I was. “C’mon get up, you need to get your hair, nails and makeup done!” I got out of bed and began to start my day. While taking a shower, hot water beating against my skin, I planned out my day. Everything seemed perfect, just the way I wanted it to be.
Stepping out of my house, I felt the humidity smack me in my face; this wasn’t a good

So I could’ve only picture how the hall was going to look. I looked at my phone again it was almost four- thirty. My prom wasn’t the typical prom, my date didn’t come home to pick me up, and I wanted to do things differently. So instead my girlfriends and I rented a limo and pick our dates up from their house, but before we could have done that we all had to meet up, which was my friends house, Jennifer.
While my mom drove me over there, I had the air conditioner on blast. I wasn’t going to risk becoming sweaty. The anxiety started to build up. My mom started giving me the lecture that every parent gave his or her child on prom night. Of course I reassured her that there was nothing she had to worry about. As we arrived to Jennifer’s house, being the girls that we were all I heard were joyful screams and “ Oh my god, you look so beautiful!” We then took a million and one pictures and waited for the limo to arrive. As soon as the long, white, stretched limo arrived I called my date, “hey, I’ll see you in a few”. He just responded with an okay. Inside the limo were bright lights and loud music; it was jus the way we wanted it to be. When we arrived the guys were all there, they looked so handsome with their suits on. I looked at my date “hey handsome” he smiled. “You look beautiful”, he said. The look in his eyes told me that he
Prom 2K16, the scariest night of my life. Me and my boyfriend Colin started dating december of my freshman year his junior year. We met through mutual friends, I fell for him the moment I saw him. It's crazy to think how far we have come but that a story for another time.
As I grew up, I refuse to let the stereotypes people expect of those growing up in the South Bronx confine me. Since I have always been aware that where I live is usually referred to as dangerous and withholds those growing up here, I don't want to let where I live define me. This motivated me to do as much as possible, in and out of the classroom. Consequently, I decided to be a part of prom committee, be a volunteer, and work as an intern at my school. I began volunteering at the Hope Line Resource Center to assist those in the community. Furthermore, I volunteer in health fairs to spread awareness of the ways people can put their body in a healthier state with Urban Health Plan. I eventually became an intern in the clinic with Urban Health
We burst out of the door, unveiling ourselves to the crowd outside. We felt like rock stars. Everyone had to get a few more pictures with other friends as they arrived and then we filed inside. The place was decorated from top to bottom, glittered stars hung from the ceiling, white Christmas lights twinkled all around, and glimmering gowns in every color made the entire venue sparkle. As a class, months earlier, we had chosen the theme, “I’ve had the time of my life”. The girls had pulled it from our favorite movie, “Dirty Dancing”, and I think the boys just went with it. We sat down for dinner where we were served our choice of meat, with rice or potatoes and a medley of veggies. Nobody ate much though, either because of nerves, vanity, or just plain desire to get to showing off our best moves, we wanted to boogie! After about an hour the tables were cleared off of the dance floor and it was time to the highly anticipated partying. The DJ played the hottest jams of 1999 and we danced the night away. Most of the girls were in their bare feet, unable to take the pain of high heels any longer as we busted our best moves.
Soon enough, time for Prom came. We were all rushing to do the last touches of our makeup as our dates were waiting in the dining room with our parents. My friends and I made our way downstairs. Our heels clicking every step we took.
Prom is supposed to be a very exciting night. I think finding a date for prom is even more exciting. You see my school has this thing called grand march and you have to have a prom date/ friend to even participate in the walk. So if you are a loner you can’t go. Well my experience finding a prom date so I wouldn’t be a loner was quite the adventure.
“ONLY 1 WEEK ‘TILL PROM!!! YYYYYYYAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!” I screeched, looking eagerly at the sign up list for prom queen. I need to win this year. I’m a senior now. It’s my last year. Right then, I realized I didn’t have a dress. It is the most important part of prom. How did I not have one yet? I caught Emauni walking in the hall and sprinted to her as quickly as I possibly
Well I'm more awake than this morning, and I'm braining better. Since the prom spread is Megan x2, Emily, and Mine's I just was wondering if you know what Dani has in terms of prom-posal pictures, or information. Next class I would like to gather those resources so that we're not scrambling next Monday. Also since this is Dani's spread should we keep the title and layout, and everything and just plug in pictures or take creative control. I'm fine with any of them but I don't want to overstep/understep my boundries.
It was a warm April day with clouds hanging and storms on the horizon. School had just gotten out, and everybody was rushing home so they could start their weekend plans. For most people that included prom, but me and my friends had different plans, which included going out to eat on Friday night. On the way to the restaurant, me and Sara were talking about how my excitement was building in anticipation of receiving my drivers license and talking about our difficult homework.
Limousine service could be utilized in an occasion which you planned to proceed such as marriage ceremony, prom evening, anniversary, birthday celebration, business event, a trip along with loved ones and so forth. Definitely, you would like to have the greatest. But how could you be sure that you may be hiring someone that you can depend and rely on?
James said that he would drive us, which made me feel better that I would not have to be walking around in the streets. My parents actually believed that we were staying at London's house so that made put me at ease. We had all had our new dresses on, which is normally not ,y style. This dress was beautiful but a bit less conservative for what I am used to. It was black and tight at the top and got loose as the dress went down. Another part of the dress is that it is above the knee, which would cause a riot in the Hills household. I have always admired the way these dresses are made; maybe one day I will get to make my own line of them. I was lost in thought until I felt someone tap my
As I laid in bed, semi-awake my stomach in knots, heart erratically beating I was a bundle of nerves. Sleep was elusive for me the night before as it always is for a significant event. That day was a massive event. I was leaving to go on a trip with friends during spring break holiday. After weeks of planning, the day was finally here. I had a mental checklist of everything I needed. I called all my friends to see if they were ready and as excited as I was. The group consisted of; Karla, an assertive divorcee, Mish my tall, lanky cousin, Alan a quiet, sensitive man, Anthony a typical introvert and Juan a young, adventurous guy. Mish, Alan, and Juan decided that preparation was not something of importance to them. They were waiting for Karla
My sister and I started to get ready so we can take our pictures. Everything came together nicely. Her with her navy blue and silver two-piece dress and silver heels and me with my mermaid fitted, open back gold and black dress with a train and gold open toe Heels. We were look amazing. While styling my hair, taken out the pin curls I was getting frustrated. My curls wasn't coming out tight the way I wanted them. Me wanting to stay on schedule I had to deal with the body wave look. Finally coming out the house to go meet the cameraman to take our pictures. I was nervous and excited but, Not only was I excited I was camera ready. After an hour or so of taking pictures our ride was here. The way our ride was looking. I could not stop smiling I was so happy. It was an infinity limo all black with silver outlining. In the inside it was looking like a nightclub with different color flashing lights and loud music. After saying bye to everyone so we can leave to meet our dates and friends. Our Cameraman got in the limo with us taking more pictures and recording. Finally getting to the pick up spot. Our friends were there but our dates wasn't. After waiting five minutes they finally arrive. Even though I was mad at my date for not being on time. I was also happy because he cleaned up nice. We were matching with gold and black with red boutonniere and corsage. Plus he got his dreads freshly twisted. I don't know why but, I was afraid he was gone
It was a sunny morning in California,it was also my 15th birthday.I got out of bed and did my morning routine. I opened my closet to chose what I should where today, I found a dress that was white until your stomach and then was purple with a flow free bottom.I matched some white flats with my dress and headed downstairs.I greeted my mom “Good morning mom.” I noticed that dad was nowhere near by. “Mom where's dad ?” “ Honey something urgent came up so your dad had to step out.How about we get some breakfast from dunkin.” I nodded my head so we stepped out the house. When we arrived I ordered a glazed donut, mom got herself a chocolate sprinkle donut and got dad a pumpkin spice donut. We finished up eating and headed home.
It was New Year’s Eve, about fifty degrees outside, loud noise carried through the streets and echoed in the alley ways. There were parties on every block. That night, I had plans to go on a date with my crush from grammar school. So many things were going through my mind. What should I wear? How much make-up should I put on? How should I wear my hair? I was a nervous wreck. I was scared he was not going to like me, so I wanted to make sure my appearance was beautiful. He called later that night to cancel our date and said that he wanted to go to his
Saturday and Sunday went by fast. Vowing that God had cut off at least twelve hours off my weekend, Monday morning arrived. I had to be at the coliseum at nine a.m. I woke up at eight thirty on the dot. With no essential worries and not a care in the world what I looked like, I merely jumped out of bed and put my graduation dress, cap, and gown on. In six minutes flat I was ready to go. I made it out my room and past the mirror wall right before I was about to leave. Looking at myself I knew I looked unacceptable, but my mind could not lead me to care. Right before I could make it out the door my mom vented her words of refutation. “Where do you think you are going? You did not bother to brush your hair, wash your face nor take a shower.” Thinking quickly, I managed to use time as my excuse and scampered out the door to avoid any more questions.
