my first song is Lucky by Jason Mraz featuring Colbie Caillat. I chose this song to represent the theme of love. I chose it because this song is about two people singing about how they are in love with their best friend. Hazel and Augustus started out, in my opinion as friends, they hang out all the time. Whether it is at the support group, watching movies in his basement, or trusting your life into the terrible driving of his. They were just always talking even before they were dating. my second song is Love Runs Out by One Republic. I chose this because it talks about devoting in the second verse. It also is saying that they will run till the love runs out. This relates to the book when Augustus uses his wish on hazel to bring her to meet …show more content…
This relates to the book because of Hazel, before she meets Gus, is depressed. In the song, they speak of how they just want to be with a person that they can love. Hazel just wants someone to love. my fourth song is It Will Rain by Bruno Mars. He speaks of when his love leaves it breaks his heart and how nothing can save him. This relates to Hazel when after Gus dies she falls back into that depression. She at the funeral just is mentally dead. The love of her life has died. She had this great love and it was taken from her. my fifth song is If I Die Young by The Band Perry. I chose this song not because Augustus dies but when Hazel almost died. He was so in love with her and the song shows that you can live a short life but it can be a good one. At the end of the novel at Gus’ funeral, the author gave Hazel his letter and he spoke about her nail polish. He held her hand and said he would love her forever. my sixth song is perfect by Ed Sheeran. I chose this song because he's singing that he fell in love with this girl. This is like Hazel and Gus. They were kids when they fell in love but then he died. They had this “epic love story” where they would discuss metaphors and play video games. The song is just about falling in love which goes well with the theme of the whole
I really loved the idea of finding a song about Gatsby, because he is the main character and his life is so interesting. This song really represents what Gatsby is thinking about how he feels. In the song it says “You held me close against your heart” then it goes on to say “Then one day he took you away”. This explains to us what Gatsby feels about Daisy all his life then someone (Tom) took her away. It says, “My life has crumbled since you’ve gone, somehow I must carry on.” This is like Gatsby not knowing how to live life without Daisy and he does not know how to start life again without her. In this quote, it explains how much Gatsby truly wants Daisy but he knows he cannot meet her expectations (money). “Gatsby chased the future. He wanted
It was used a lot in a harsh way towards the people who had written them. Because the writers of these stories had gotten treated harshly towards them from their friends. So through this song they were a little harsh about leaving. In the song by Tim Mcgraw he was talking about how he had to leave his friend. Not because he was a bad friend but because he really didn’t feel it was going to work at that time and he would hope that they would come back together one day.
My story has a meaningful story behind it. The story is deep for me and even for the artist and probably for many other people. Hearing songs like this can inspire you. It inspired me to be thankful for the people in my life. One day they can be here the next they could be gone. You never know what’s going on in their lives.
I chose this song because, in my opinion, it has a good thesis that backs up the song lyrics and it gives you a positive feeling. Basically, the song is telling us to always keep our faith and stay strong no matter what. It encourages people to
I chose this song because I think it resembles the beginning of this book. At the graduation, Mitch promises Morrie, that he will continue to visit Morrie. However, Mitch breaks his promise. He does not visit Morrie until he sees Morrie on “Nightline”, and finds out Morrie is dying. Morrie taught Mitch so much in University and Mitch was Morrie’s favorite student, and best friend, and Morrie was Mitch’s favourite professor, and best friend.“Mitch, you are one of the good ones,” he says, admiring the briefcase. Then he hugs me. I feel his thin arms around my back. I am taller than he is, and when he holds me, I feel awkward, older, as if I were the parent and he were the child. He asks if I will stay in touch, and without hesitation I say,
I picked “A Thousand Year” by Christina Perri. I love this song since the first time that I heard it. This song tells you that time can fly, and we can die but even thou he/she will love you for an eternity. My second song is “Because You Love Me” by Celine Dion. She transmits a message thru this song about the person that has been with her forever and how graceful she is to be with him. The singer cannot be more clear when she sings “You were my strength when I was weak, You were my voice when I couldn't speak, You were my eyes when I couldn't see, You saw the best there was in me
First, the song shows what love can actually do to you as a whole. It can make you feel like you lost a piece of yourself
I chose the song See you again for the relationship with his family because most of his family died very early in the book and he has the determination to find the rest of his family. He always looks forward to the day that he will see them again. He was so happy when he found his family in the end “ I had a family- a cousin still.” As he thought about his past loved ones this saying would go through his head, “Everything I would do you were standing there by my
They are joined together by Ryan’s tape diary found in Ameliah’s attic. In this journal, I will be making a song tribute to a specific event in the book, such as Ryan’s reminiscence of his mother and Ameliah trying to fit in, and Nathan’s lack of decorum. Ever since Ryan’s mom died, he is continuously attempting to adjust
While this song was not referenced in the book, I still do believe that it has a spot on the list for many reasons. One of them being the constant reference to the “doctor” and the need to be “fixed” reminded me of Fred Pink. The doctor could be a psychiatrist, much like Iris Marinus-Fenby. In addition, the lyric “I’ve been breathing air but there’s no sign of life” reminded me of how before each of their deaths, the guests were reminded that they weren’t breathing.
Another idea that interested me in the song was the idea of losing someone close to you. Chris demonstrates this idea by singing “And the tears come streaming down your face; When you lose something you can’t replace; When you love someone but it goes to waste.” These lyrics show us the anguish and pain of losing someone you love. The line “tears come streaming down your face” emphasizes the greiving as people will cry and feel misery from losing someone close to them. He then goes on to say “When you lose
My 3 songs “you had to pick on me” “shake it off” and “mean” are great examples of songs that represent themes in the book. And in All The Broken Pieces it shows that bullying is not right and the Vietnam perspective. It shows many themes. And I feel all these songs put the themes in great perspective and it shows me what the book is all about and it tells me What the main Subject is in the
I like the artist as he talks about his journey to being successful in most of his songs. He really gets across his ideas incredibly well with really good literary techniques. 2. What do you believe to be the main themes in the song? Identify a minimum of two themes and explain your response using direct quotes from the lyrics to support your answer.
He focuses on the woman who he loved and lost, “Why she had to go, I don’t know, she wouldn’t say. I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday” It is a heartfelt memoriam to joy and love. The chord progressions incorporate minor chords, though the song is in F (G major, E minor, A major, D minor., etc.) This helps to create the solemn feeling of love and loss which McCartney emphasizes with the lyrics and instrumentation to great effect.
This very slow song, so in my opinion I think it reinforces a sense of bittersweet, because even though she mentions how she wants to be remembered for the good things that she did she also mentions death and regrets in her song.
