Since 1911 Machu Picchu has come into prominence as a tourist site because of its interesting history and its mysterious abandonment. Much of Machu Picchu has been restored since its discovery to give tourists a window into what it would have been like to live there at its prime. Machu Picchu was built by the great Inca civilization in 1450 and it is believed that it was used as an imperial retreat for the Inca Emperor. Some people don’t know the great and amazing place called Manchu Picchu, which is an old Inca building that many architects admire. Those people don’t know that thousands of tourists and visitors come to look at it, wonder about its past, and to reflect off of it. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization support that Machu Picchu is a world heritage.” This shows the reader how important and stunning Machu Picchu was. In this essay we are going to talk about what was so amazing about Machu Picchu, how it affected the environment and how it inspired architects, and how and who made it.

Peru is a country that has diverse regions ranging from plains to mountainy regions and also the rain forest jungle. It offers a wide variety of sites to its visitors and especially Peru is famous for the family adventures. And every visitor who wishes to go for the adventure with his family must introduce to the Amazon Jungle and Machu Picchu in Peru to his kids where each family member will enjoy the wild life scenes and exploring the valley.

One of the most interesting things talked about during lecture was the Incan archeological site Machu Picchu. I believe that Machu Picchu stands out because of its mysterious and interesting aspects and its existence was unknown for many centuries. Scientists believe that it was originally built as a religious retreat or a temple for high priests due to the skeletal finds, a majority being women and children, but there are still many theories about why they built this extraordinary site. Since culture plays an important role in Peru there is a city named, Arequipa which is surrounded by three volcanoes. This city is filled with ancient Spanish culture and happens to be located right by Peru’s most visited natural attraction, Colca Canyon. Cusco is also another place of interest in Peru. Machu Picchu, a ruin in the Andes Mountains of Peru, housed mysterious peoples. Over the years we have guessed and guessed about who these people where, why did build what they build, and how they build it. Also, why it was abandoned. The beautiful stone structures has altars, temples, houses, fountains (16 in total and a great source of drinking water), terraces and more. It all surrounds big green areas, and no clues or carvings are found about the pasts. The highest point of the “village” is the home of a sacred pillar.

Today Machu Picchu serves as a Peru’s biggest north-eastern tourist attraction welcoming hundreds of thousands of people a year. However, increased tourism has lead to damage and erosion to Machu Picchu’s environment. In attempt to protect Machu Picchu, the Peruvian government is taking steps in attempt to prevent erosion of the mountain side in the past couple years. According to the staff of History.com, because of Machu Picchu’s landscape, architecture, history, and wildlife, Machu Picchu was named one of the New 7 Wonders of the World in 2007 by UNESCO, (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). Hiram Bingham, a Yale University lecturer, discovered Machu Picchu in 1911. Although he wasn’t employed as an archaeologist, he preferred archaeology and exploration. During a conference in Santiago in 1909, he explored the Inca ruins in Peru, which gave him an interest in the Inca villages. During 1911 with the aid of the Peruvian government and Yale University, he organised an expedition to find the Inca mega city, Vitcos. Ironically, Hiram came across Vitcos on his expedition but dismissed it, claiming that it was too small because of the dense vegetation, which in fact was hiding the true size.

Located in the countryside northwest of Cuzco Machu Picchu is believed to have been a royal estate for Inca leaders..Machu Picchu stands 2,430 m above sea-level, in a tropical mountain forest, in an extraordinarily beautiful environment. It was probably the most awesome creation of the Inca Empire because of its height; its giant walls and teracces which seems as if they have been cut naturally in the escarpments . Above Amazon basin located at this height at Peru's Andes Machu Picchu is full of animals and plants you can not see in other parts of the planet.
