Making Wishes Coming Into Reality Helping Others After all the experiences that these kids have gone through, it is safe to say that what they went through will be greater than whatever I go through. These kids were put in a terrible situation at such a young age. Picture this: Your name is Salvador and you live in California. For most of your childhood from age 4-7 you loved everything. You loved basketball, and you played everyday. All that changed in one day. You go to the doctor and they tell you that you have cancer. That was what 13 year old Salvador had to go through. It was founded by Scott Stahl, Frank Shankwitz, and Linda Bergendahl-Pauling. Make-A-Wish is one big charity, it is not connected to a bigger charity. The charity believes in granting children’s wishes who have life-threatening medical problems/diseases. All of their money donated goes to gifts, contributions, etc. Make-A-wish grants wishes from across the nation. The first step is to be requested for a wish. To request a child, you must go to wish.org and refer them. The child must be between ages 2 ½ and 18. If they already got a wish from a different wish-granting charity, then the child is ineligible. They also have to have medical eligibility. To have a medical eligibility, the child must have a life-threatening medical condition. The next step is finding their wish. A group of people get to know the person and find out their wish. Then they grant their wish. Over the past few years, Make-A-Wish has received plentiful amount of money. They help numerous kids around the world, and people from around the world donate through the website. In fact, a wish is granted to a child under Make-a-wish every 35-40 minutes, which means around 36 children are granted a wish. The reason why I believe that is because the amount of kids they make happy a day is just pure amazement. They make a wish come true every 35-40 minutes. In a day there are 24 hours, and in each hour there is 60 minutes. That means each day contains 1,440 minutes. That also means that makes about 41-42 wishes come true everyday. Whenever you make that many kids happy, that is just so heart-warming for some people. Celebrities such as Justin Bieber and Dwayne Johnson are supporters of Make-A-Wish, and there are more than 100 celebrities that support Make-A-Wish.
