Welcome to Nevada Wish, and thank you for seeking to learn more about our purpose. We are a statewide non-profit designed to enhance the lives of children suffering hardships by granting wishes. The number of children in Nevada dealing with adversity relating to illness or injury is staggering. While there are national organizations with the same objective, we direct our efforts toward serving Nevada’s youth, as there are already more recipients than any one agency can accommodate. Wishes coming to fruition inspires hope in families when they need it most. When a child’s quality of life is improved, even for a short while, the optimism infused within the entire family unit is undeniable.

**Volunteerism** Community-based fundraising efforts by Nevada Wish occur throughout the year, and we are always in need of manpower during these events. Attend as a guest to lend support, or help us by putting some elbow grease into any of our fundraising
If given the opportunity of this scholarship, I will eternally continue to shine the touch of Hope to my undeserved communities’ family and match forward with the mission of the Nurse Corps Scholarship program that outlines principal responsibilities of any nursing leadership with added knowledge and
I’ve chosen Vader’s Fist: 501st Legion as my non-profit organization. The 501st Legion is a worldwide costuming organization that helps charity’s raise money through Star Wars cosplay. I’ve been a member for 5 years now and a member of the Florida Garrison charity team for 4 of those years. Members pay no dues and are only required troop one event a year to stay active in the system. In 2014, the Florida Garrison (aka Florida area) alone has helped raise over $12 million dollars for charities in our local community. In 2014, we also helped raise over $30,000 that was a direct result to membership doing anything from donating toys or money to charitable causes.
At the moment, the organization is planning a scholarship program where Pink Wishes will send one high school student to college who lives in the D.C. area. To be able to fulfill ore wishes, their non-profit group must be able to raise more
The Foundation had just donated the funds to expand housing for the Seed’s Orphanage, which was home to seventy- five children. Our mission when going was to spend quality time with the children by organizing ten days of fun activities. Each of the children in the orphanage had endured various versions of abandonment, abuse, rape, and neglect. Bonding with the children and experiencing life in an impoverished area was truly life giving.
It is safe to presume that children are our future, wherever they are or wherever they come from. Children from every corner have made an impact for others all over. I decided that I had also wanted to make an impact for those around me in my community and outside of it. I hope to make a change and better the children outside my community so that they, too, can make a change to better those around them.
The Shriners Hospitals for Children is a nonprofit group and depend on the charity of supporters of Shriners and the overall community to complete the assignment and advance the lives of children daily. Its area of interest is to better the lives of kids living with orthopedic conditions, burns, congenital, spinal cord injuries, cleft lip, palate, and other special healthcare needs within a compassionate, family-centered setting, in spite of the patients’ ability to pay. The Shriners Hospitals for Children upholds helpful results through donation in statewide organization. “Though the early 1900s, each local period of contributions, frequently offering financial
Here at Bright Prospects Education Center we have set standards in place and came up with goals to reach for our organization. With a budget set in place we are hoping to reach these goals and change the lives of our teen parents and their families. We strive to make a difference in our clients and hope that we will make a difference for many years to come.
Kids Wish Network Hired Melissa Schwartz, who is a crisis management specialist in New York City, she was working for the federal government before she took the position for Kids Wish Network. When she was asked some questions by the different press and contributors, she would decline to answer any of their questions. “She declined to answer detailed questions about Kids Wish’s fundraising operations or its payments to its founder, saying the charity "is focused on the future.” (“America's Worst Charities."
Over the course of six months, I prepared to minister to underprivileged homes in the most impoverished parts of Anchorage, Alaska. Upon arrival, time spent in trailer parks, homeless shelters, and soup kitchens consumed our schedule. Our purpose was to show those who only knew darkness, the light that was in the world. Through acts as small as a smile, children transformed before us.Not until deprived of a loving environment does its importance become recognized. Moreover, our service in Alaska provided these children with a glimpse into a world that exists beyond abusive homes. Although giving out jackets to those without at homeless shelters and feeding the hungry certainly impacted the lives of those we served, changing the futures of these
Their goal focuses on engaging “the next generation of philanthropists to fund the highest-priority needs of the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids).” This is for individuals who want to connect with others who feel passionately about the health and well being of children.
The training was very interesting and inspiring. Make a Wish was founded in 1980, has 75 chapters consolidations in the United States and 39 international affiliates, has been featured as one of the top 3 charities and nonprofit brands, and every 35 minutes a kid is granted a wish. Only the parents, the doctors, or the kids themselves can refer, and there are four types of wishes the kids can choose from: I want to go, I want to have, I want to meet, and I want to be. After the completed training, I summited to a background check, and I am waiting to be contacted. Volunteer with Make a Wish foundation is a future possibility; however, I had to look for another possibility for my service learning.
“I wish to be”…”I wish to give”… “I wish to meet”... my initial reaction when visiting the Make-a-Wish website was amazement. I had not visited the site before and I was impressed by how the program is broken up into different categories of wishes made by children. I had always pictured the program as limited to Disney trips for young terminal patients. But it so much more and I was really impressed by how selfless these young patients are. I think we all would agree that the wish everyone would make would be that there was never a need for a program such as this one.
With a grant of around $330,000 for ever year to support our emergency rescue and rehab fund. Will go towards the organization project descriptions below…
Make-A-Wish improves the lives of many through granting wishes, fundraising to help children, and giving people opportunities to volunteer. The Make-A-Wish Foundation was started in 1980, in Phoenix, Arizona and since then has granted more than 280,000 wishes worldwide. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is an organization that grants wishes for children who suffer from life-threating issues (Shoshani 2). Shoshani says, “The goal of the intervention is to fulfill the child’s greatest wish based on the assumption that evoking hope and joy will potentially give children more strength to cope with their illness” (Shoshani 2).
The organization benefits our community because the money that is earned stays on the island of Hawai’i and is specifically used for seriously ill children of the ages four to seventeen. One social issue that has contributed to the need for this service on my island is the awareness of terminal and serious illnesses. There are a various illnesses that lead to suffering and even death for children around the world and on the island that I live on. Since A Dream
