It is estimated by the World Tourism Organisation that nature tourism generates 7% of all international travel expenditure (Lindberg, 1997) and this figure will have increased rapidly over recent years. Over the last 60 years, tourism has benefited from continuous growth and diversification, becoming one of the largest as well as the fastest growing world’s economic sectors. Nowadays, 7% of global goods and services exports are contributed by international tourism, and for the last four years, it has grown faster than the general global trade.[ Exports from international tourism rise 4% in 2015, (2016, May 6). For decades, adventurous people go to Nepal to climb or set foot on the highest mountain on earth, Mount Everest. I did not come to Nepal for that reason, but when I mentioned that I was going to Nepal, a co-worker told me to, at least, take the flight to the mountains and see the amazing view of the Himalayas and the eight tallest peaks in the world, which includes Mount Everest (the tallest at 29,028 feet). So I signed up for the ‘mountain flight’ offered by some Nepalese airlines. The ‘mountain flights’ offer dawn/early morning panoramic views of the Himalayas and Mount Everest; each passenger is guaranteed a window seat.
The airline industry is greatly influenced by the the travel and tourism trends across the globe. The World Travel and Tourism Board states that the the level of tourism is likely to grow even as the years progress. The growth in the level of tourism is expected to grow at a level of 4.5 per cent annually. This is expected to continue upto 2017. Thus the organization should fully prepare it self and take over the tourism market.
Tourism plays a vital role in economic development in most countries around the world. The industry has not only direct economic impact, but also significant indirect and influential impacts. Tourism is one of the most exciting and progressive industries in the world. Tourism today is a leisure activity of the masses. People travel to international destinations to break the regular monotony of life. They are mainly attracted by either the scenic beauty of its nature or by fascinating leisure, sports and adventure activities offered by the destination. However, every destination has some internal strengths and weaknesses that either enhance its capacity to attract foreign visitors or diminish it. Similarly the external environment can create various opportunities or exposed to threats as well.
This report will highlight the historical events of the tourism in Nepal. And also include the different tourist destinations and how it effects on the environment. Finally, it will detail the Nepal governments how to develop the tourism industry in future.
The Travel and Tourism industry is still one of the largest single businesses in world commerce and its importance is widely recognized. The tourism industry is now one of the largest sectors earning foreign exchange. In the face of many benefits, many countries have started assigning due weight age to the tourism industry in their national development agenda. Tourism is an industry that operates on a massively broad scale: it embraces activities ranging from the smallest sea-side hotel; to air-lines, multi-national hotel chains and major international tour operators. Originally, non-traditional industries such as tourism emerged as a solution to strike a balance between ecology and industry
The ecotourism industry has exhibited global growth over the past two decades and is expected to rapidly develop and increase in upcoming years (Gallagher and Hammerschlag, 2014), becoming one of the largest industries in the world (Scheyvens, 1999).
The market in specialist adventure activities (four-wheel drive, microlight, whitewater rafting, etc.) is more recent but is rapidly expanding. Most of these activities only marginally qualify as ecotourism when practiced in parucularly careful ways, and some are harmful to the environment. They are indicative of the conflicts that can arise between adventure tourism, nature-based tourism and ecotourism, both in objectives and practice.
Rafting was a real adventure. When we reached the end place we all were playing in the water when suddenly one of my aunt’s leg hurt with a fish hook at the bank of river. But doing rafting was a wonderful and dangerous adventure. Rafting in the river was very remarkable and pleasant as initially I felt very scared but after some time I thought it was a savouring moment. We also went to Mirik that is Indo-Nepal Border. Mirik is a picturesque tourist spot nestled in the serene hills of Darjeeling. Mirik has become a popular tourist destination for its atmosphere, characteristic magnificence and easy
