The last weeks and the two last weeks, I learned many thing from the relational leadership class. My classmates presented about the narcissism. The meaning of narcissism is “inordinate fascination with oneself; excessive self-love; vanity” ("Narcissism," n.d.). In organizations, leaders who have this type personality, they will only interest in their self and do not care others thinking or opinions. The great leaders should have more on the emotional intelligence, so they will understand, know how to motivate and lead their subordinates for having more efficiency, getting productivities, and building on team collaboration. Moreover, a leader who has high score of the emotional intelligence, he or she can deal with any conflicts in organizations.
An effective leader focuses on people and therefore empathises with them. Empathy is the tool of emotional intelligence which successful leaders apply. When individuals realise that their feelings and concerns are being acknowledged they develop a sense of trust which fosters a strong relationship based on loyalty to the leader - that way people’s hearts are worn to the cause of the leader. Thus, shared values are identified that sustain the quest of vision and purpose as Gill (2006:82) alludes to. He further mentions that all visioning, strategic thinking and goal setting without effective emotional intelligence are impotent.
As part of this critical assignment, it is a requirement that I reflect on my own experience as a Leader where I have demonstrated a high level of emotional intelligence, as well use theories to demonstrate my learning’s.

If a leader spread energy and enthusiasm, the organization will thrives. If a leader spreads negativity and conflict, the organization will struggles. What is narcissism? There is no specific definition for it. In psychology, narcissism is a negative and bad character trait. Narcissists have an excessive pride and they obsess with self. In other words, they think they are better than others and only care about themselves. In fact, being confident can also be accused as narcissism. However, narcissism is more than self confidence. Nowadays, Generation Y is being claimed as narcissists and there are so many reason that the critics try to list it out to prove their claim. In my opinion, Generation Y is just adapt to the environment they are living right now. Accusing Millennials as narcissist is not accurate.
