Micro, Mezzo & Macro Perspectives In 1990, the fall of the communist regime affected the region. This fall changed the demographics of the region and somehow by 2016 it changed not only the landscape but the population as well. This change took place on the macro level and it also affected the micro level. Statistics show that the live birth ratio dropped throughout the years, that only 7,569 babies were born in 2016 versus 6,464 deaths. These numbers show that this group is headed for extinction. As social workers, an intervention is needed to ensure the continuation of this group of people. Studies are taking at present time to find out the cause and effect of this drastic change of population. In reading the humanistic perspective, it is believed that humans have the capacity of free will and choice. However, this decision of not having babies will affect this group in years to come. We can begin at the micro level by interacting with individuals to get their perspective on the ordeal for it is the choice of God and the woman to determine whether she wants to birth a child. Then venture out to see how the community and businesses would be affected. There is a need for an intervention in this area, definitely, a study needs to be conducted there before it is too late. On the mezzo level the community works together like one big happy family. One of their traditions, never empty your plate and always leave your glass full relates to their hospitable attitude. To
In Document A it shows that the population rates were at an all time high near the 2000’s and seems to increase overtime but in the future the population will drop drastically by the ten millions. Due to families only bearing one child the child will grow up and marry another adult who is an only child, later on when old age hits they will die and there will be larger and larger decline due to the low child rates. People could feel very skeptical about the
Discuss the declining birthrate in Russia and other countries in the region. What do you think the impact of this decline can have on neighboring countries and regions? Are similar declines happening elsewhere? The declining birthrate is seen all throughout Russia and neighboring countries. A lot is due to many choosing to have less children and also the high mortality rate of younger men. It seems that Europe and the United States are also seeing a decline in the birthrate, but not as bad as
As Canada is a very diverse country, it is import to examine the role of culture and religion in the decision. In pronatalist western societies such as Canada, a diagnosis of infertility comes attached with social and cultural stigmas; it is considered a social norm for all couples to have children. In many cultures, fertility is regards as something to be respected and the label of infertility can bring shame to not only the women but the entire family (Ripke, 2015). The stigma felt by childless women, can be voluntary and involuntary, and is a result of cultural and societal beliefs and norms. Women almost always bear the brunt of this shame as many cultures still believe that the woman is at fault when it comes to infertility (Forsythe, 2009).
What makes this book to be a captivating literature is how the thoughts have been arranged in the book. First, Hvistendahl commits her first two-thirds of the book by investigating on the some of the reasons that are behind the existence of such a dreadful shift in the population within the Asian region. This is a clear indication that she is not just focused on reporting the problem, but analyzes the causes so that appropriate measures can be devised for the purpose of coming up with different ideas of handling such a devastating social problem. As indicated by Hvistendahl, there is planned abortion that is carried out on female offspring upon discovery through ultrasound, and this is carried out also by the wish of the parents (Hvistendahl 149).
This population consists of the single mothers unable to earn enough to provide for their children, the blind and disabled who cannot find work in this time
The macro, mezzo, and micro concepts used by social workers would have greatly enhanced Daisy’s life in many ways. First I would have applied the macro concept by doing one-to-one therapy with Daisy to find out why she hides the remainder of the chicken her father brings her under her bed. Also, I would have talked to her about trying other foods. By using the mezzo concept I would have incorporated group therapy into her plan by having Daisy in groups with people that is suffering with the same diagnosis. With Daisy able to be around people like herself, maybe she would have found better ways with coping with her problems. Furthermore, by using the micro concept I would have tried my best to find organizations that specializes in helping
Human dignity is the foundation of all the catholic social teaching principles, and a fundamental value that the catholic church promotes and considers when discussing the moral issues raised by IVF. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5 conveys that every individual is born with human dignity and is part of God’s plan. The catholic church document Donum Vitae promotes the sacredness of the child’s life and their human dignity because it elucidates that the science and technology that humans have developed, should be dedicated to protecting the dignity of the human person, rather than power and control over human life because that can only result in unforeseeable consequences. Not only does IVF provide man with power over the human life that is being created but it is also a violation of their human
The population starts to rise and the economy enters the period of economic expansion. Death rates decline because of an increase in food supply due to agricultural revolution and improvement in health and sanitation also causing reduction in child mortality. Citizens do not seek to regulate the amount of their family as it is difficult to break with the past social or cultural traditions and convictions towards family planning. Also, work opportunities increase and children can add more to the family wage. As a product, the birth rate rests at the preceding high level. With enhancements in the way of life and the dietary propensities for the general population, the life expectancy also
The hwealth outcome show the difference in life expectancy, rate in increase or decrease in mortality, mortality, illness and disability. There is a social gradient in that runs from top to bottom of social economic-----, however, mortality statistics are different ways of calculating death rates, prinatal mortality rate is the number of stillbirth and death in the first 7 days after birth per 1000 birth. Mortality is another social econopmic factors of the number dealth caused by age, sex, and atrea of residence. The infant death under one year of age, the pernatal death after 28weeks of pregnancyand in the first 7 days health is different between individuals. The study between health and socioeconomic, referred to ethnic inequalities in
The death rates have the possibility of ranging from as high as 37 to as low as 18 deaths per 1000 population. This drop in death rates may be due to the effects of urbanization and new technology, as life expectancy rose the death rates have fallen because of the new medical and sanitation advancements. Improved foodstuff storage and distribution and a rising per person income also allowed for death rates to drop. With urbanization, the environment became better equipped for many families, with access to medical amenities, food, and other necessities that were not reliable before. Birth rates still remain high since cultural practices are harder to change than an easy implementation technology. This would also be due to the fact that children seem more desirable because once at the proper age they can work and help parents earn money and care for their family. With the effect of falling death rates, the population will see an increase in size because of the growing difference between the two
All in all, the choice by the organizations to drop conception prevention coverage on their workers is not ethical. It is a component that will damage the need to accomplish equality for both genders. Females will be more defenseless to the impacts of these actions. Abortion rates will increase, which impact the woman’s health on all levels, including psychologically, emotionally, and physically. Our wellbeing is demoralized and not completely considered in. The establishments have not carried on as indicated by the guideline of morals as they
Western ideas about infertility can vary a great deal from other cultures. There is a growing culture in western nations of childlessness being a choice (Balen & Inhorn, 2002). This can help eliminate the social stigma of not having children because it is difficult to determine from the outside if this is a voluntary choice. Though, westerners can be affected just as much by infertility, the increasingly medicalized view of infertility allow for reproductive technologies to be better accepted (Balen & Inhorn,
When considering the growth of the world’s population there Is a concentrated look at Four Main factors with a fifth element now ,slowly becoming a large factor. They are fertility rates, mortality rates (life expectancy), the initial age profile of the population (whether it is comparatively old or relatively young to begin with), migration, and now religion, where focus is placed on migrating to or from a particular faction.
Slovenia’s population is slowly declining. While families used to be large, they have been shrinking over the past few decades. Both birth and mortality rates have been shrinking, and there is a concern about the low birth rate. 1993 was the first year to see a negative demographic trend.
Poverty, medical intervention, technology, nutritional and cultural factors play a role in increasing and decreasing growth population numbers. With the expansion of suburbanization communities were introduced to the industrial age. Technology such as farming equipment, machinery in factories, and simple household tools and utilities introduced a great deal of employment opportunities. With the introduction of farming equipment, the agricultural and nutritional aspect of our society improved greatly. This era also introduced our society to child labor and the introduction of women in the workforce. (Sachs, 2010) Due to the introduction of women in the workplace, women chose to contribute financially to their family instead of staying home, and having babies. Women were also choosing an education rather than being a housewife. When we look at today’s society men and women are following the past and choosing educations and careers instead of immediately starting family’s or having smaller families. Medical intervention has also played a role in the population growth and decrease. Not only do we have contraception to decrease population growth, we also have fertility treatments to help increase population growth. Immunizations, in the use of
