Since the age of 15 I have worked at the Dairy Queen in Montvale, NJ. The Montvale Dairy Queen was opened in 1957 by a family with the last name of Stoll and since then it has remained in their family. Unlike a lot of Dairy Queens that are indoors the one I work out is essentially a free standing “shack” that uses windows to receive people’s orders and where people receive their ice cream and other treats. In the owner’s eyes, family is very important which makes working at this specific location difficult at times. Most of the employees at the Montvale Dairy Queen have had some sort of family member currently working on property or have had family members work there in the past. There have been times that family issues have been brought …show more content…
Stoll is no longer able to do the day to day operations on property but multiple times throughout the day the owner and his wife stop in to collect cash from the registers, to make sure everyone is doing their jobs, and to make sure all of the machines are working correctly. On site there are a total of four or five managers that are in charge when the main manger, Saj, is not around. Saj does a fantastic job communicating and doing his job while setting a good example for other employees but that is not the case for the rest of the managers. Sadly, there are only one or two managers who have the same work ethic as Saj while the other four do not fulfill their job duties and at times I feel like I could do a better job than these individuals do. Often times these individuals set bad examples of how to work at the Montvale Dairy Queen which allows other employees to believe acting in similar ways is acceptable which can be extremely frustrating at …show more content…
They have always given me things to look forward to as well as made the day interesting and have always made me feel welcomed.
Overall the management style at The Montvale Dairy Queen may be a little hectic and are not always ethical but in my opinion the negative aspects don’t outweigh the positive aspects of working at DQ. I still love each and every one of the managers for different reasons and I have never felt immediately threatened by any of their actions but I understand why it may concern other employees. Due to the positive as well as negative management practices I have learned a lot about the correct way to manage a food and beverage establishment, specifically a family owned one throughout the past several
Ike Telloni always wanted to start his own business; he completed a Commerce program at the University of Ottawa and later moved on to work for the Waterloo Ice Cream Company. Ike worked at the company as a sales representative and then a regional marketing director but after working there for ten years he wanted to find a job where he could be close to family. So he bought a business that was for sale in Elgin Beach’s main street called Hannah’s Ice Cream. This forty year business was an icon in the town, everyone loved it and reason for that was because of how Hannah (the owner) treated her employees, she made sure they were
At Pike Place Fish Market, the management style evolved from a very formal, and domineering style of managers to a more informal, accommodating and tolerant one. As a result, the management approach changed from a tyrannical administration to one which empowers and inculcates the views of subordinates and colleagues in the day to day running of the fish market. The new management structure encouraged regular communication between workers and senior supervisors. Furthermore, the new style introduced a better governance structure where both managers and mere workers were held accountable to and responsible for their individual actions. Moreover, the fundamental changes in the management approach recognized the opinions, ideas and suggestions of all workers at the Pike Place Fish
The employees would spill the food and be careless and also give out extra toppings to their friends. This would bring the percentage up and at the end of the month when manager would not receive the bonus they would realize the reason of not getting it. The manager set the benefit from 6 to 12 hours for the pizza, and salad. The employees got frustrated some still worked and some quitted. The manager hired new workers. For a time being, the manager started getting bonuses but, after a while the same issue raised because, the new workers were not happy of the policy as far as they got use to of the environment. Later, manager realize that the manager should spend more time in the franchise instead of leaving it on the workers and also the reward system has to be change because, employees were not satisfied with only the managers receive the bonus and the rest would not get
All of us just aim to really accommodate them to whatever they need to make them feel welcomed and know that they are cared about.

My drive to succeed comes from my Hispanic upbringing, everyone in my family has strong work ethics and they all possess natural leadership abilities. Throughout my life I have always played the role of leader even as a little girl. My upbringing has contributed to my drive to succeed and has helped me to accomplish one of my long-term goals, starting my own business. I started my business, Tina’s Landscaping in 2011 and today I have over eight hundred customers. during this time, I have A total of eight employees on occasion I hire subcontractor. There are only three of my eight employees I can depend on. However recently two of them have decided to move back home to be with their families. So recently I hired on two employees they never show
The old crew began to hate the new supervisors. The supervisor’s attitude towards the employees were close monitoring, giving orders, and yelling. This caused stress and frustrations among employees, reducing their job performance. The supervisors made changes from the previous year that resulted in job satisfaction. The supervisors decided when to eat, how they wanted to do the job, and always drove the truck. They didn’t allow employees to talk to each other or to the customers on the job. This negatively affected customer service and customer relations.
This manager did nothing to motivate his employees to work towards the best interest of the store in general. He was only interested in his on personal gain, his bonus.
This department has had 3 managers within the past year and constant process and KPI changes. The moral of the team is low and they don’t have the same work ethic as the rest of the department due to these factors.
As long as I was friends with them, I felt secure and sure that their guidance would lead me through my journey on the road to success.
After reviewing the O*NET website I came up with the below information about my interests, skills, and information on the jobs that matched these specific items.
The Cheesecake Factory Incorporated is in the “Restaurant Industry.” It started in the 1940s in the home of Oscar and Evelyn Overton. The business was so successful that in 1971, they moved the cheesecake business to Los Angeles and named it “The Cheesecake Factory”. In 1978, their son David founded The Cheesecake Factory restaurant in Beverly Hills and 30 years later you can find their restaurant in towns and cities all over the United States with new businesses opening all the time.
Ans. To Canyon Ranch, customer information is must in order to implement their business model successfully. The value that it gives to the business is that it understands customer’s unique wants and give alternatives that will allow each guest to rach their individual goals. Point2- As a rule a successful restaurant should have a variety of menu options. And Dairy Queen does they have burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, fries, onion rings, cheese curds, and of course ice cream. Now you may be thinking well places like Mcdonald’s have this kind of menu too they have burgers sandwiches and sides like fries plus they sell milkshakes and ice cream. But dairy queen sells cakes, fruit smoothies, and many other options that mcdonald’s doesn't offer. They have also had some cool logo’s in fact the used to have dennis the menace as a logo. Point 3-As a rule a successful restaurant should have good locations. If we got a dairy queen we could put it over by the new taco bell because lots of traffic passes that way and many people would eat there. There are 4,800 dairy queen’s in the world as of 2014 so if we added one in belvidere not only would we be helping dairy queen succeed we also would have new food options. Dairy queen would be very successful their annual revenue is 3.2 million dollars! Plus if we got one here we would be supporting a restaurant that donates to St.Jude's. And the CEO of dairy queen David bleek has said ‘’Dairy queen is not just
Matt needs to act tough and simultaneously demonstrate that he has command over any others, that he is part of Florida team and not an outsider. He has to retain both the employees and direct them in such a way that they use their full potential to contribute towards growth of the business. He should meet with both managers and make them realize that, though both are committed to the betterment of the company, their individual differences are makings matter worse and have potential to harm the company on contrary to their wishes. He needs to let Ronnie know that submitting timesheets in time is essential for the cash flow, which in turn will help the company to perform other functions smoothly. He also needs to let Ellen know that Customer (Children)
