Topic 1 Journal Entry: Motivation
My Motivation for enrolled in GCU was to expand my education for a better future. I want to make a strong career and be able to take care of my family and my community. Always wanted to go forward to get college degree no matter what and I made promise to myself, nobody can take my knowledge away so want to learn everything I can. GCU counselor really motivated me to join, was the online course what am looking for, they offered me with affordable cost and finish it with in short period of time.
I feel motivation is like a spark to make a fire, without motivation anything to do can make less effective or less successful or it can bring to failure. Motivation
Motivation is having a reason or reasons to act/behave in a particular way. It creates “drive” in people whether it is in pursuit of a goal, or the need to complete an activity. It produces enthusiasm and a willingness to achieve in both a work environment and in your personal life. Motivation can be increased and decreased in line with the incentives on offer.
I chose motivation as my construct because I am very curious at what drives people and keeps them on track to reach goals, deadlines, and thing of this nature. Motivation of course is not something that can be measured, nor could it possibly measured accurately. First motivation can be defined in multiple ways to different people. Internal and external influences that fuel desire and energy in people to be continually involved and faithful to a job, role or subject, or to make an effort to attain a goal. Motivation results from the interaction of both conscious and unconscious factors such as the strength of desire
Motivation. There are several ways to define what motivation means, but to me motivation means you accomplish whatever needs to be completed with no excuses. The biggest incentive that is important to me is self-motivation seeing as, if you don’t believe you can do it, you won’t be able to, you have to believe it to achieve it. You can’t depend on other people to encourage you to do it, you have to want to do it on your own to become successful.
Motivation is something that we as human beings all possess. There is obvious levels of motivation, these levels make a substantial difference between a regular Joe and a multi-billion dollar executive. What drives a person to reach his/her full potential is motivation, whether good or bad. Sometimes tragedy as awkward as it may sound will provide
What is motivation? As manager’s, motivation is one of the most vital and crucial assets to possess in managing a business. This drive is a critical tool to use in the work place and determine the success or failure of an organization. Motivation is a driving force that initiates and directs behavior. In other words, motivation is an internal energy that drives an individual to do something in order to achieve a certain goal. Therefore, creating a motivating environment in the workplace will lead to happy employees. Creating a work environment like this, managers can expect low staff turnovers, improved productivity, happy customers, and better financial performance. Therefore, the input of motivation use towards employees determines the output efficiency of the company. However, everyone involved in an organization is motivated differently. Everybody has their own individual needs in regards to motivation. Depending on how motivated a person is, determines the effort that individual puts into the work and therefore, how productive they are.
What really motivated me to enroll at GCU was a couple things. I was in the process of applying to a different college, and something just wasn’t feeling right. The process wasn’t going smooth at all. The enrollment advisor called me numerous time a day and the over the phone interview felt fake. As I got off the phone with her, I thought I would research my degree more. I googled Bachelors in Science with Business Management and Grand Canyon was one of the links. I had taken a previous class long time ago with GCU when I was pursing my BSN. I had remembered that all my previous prerequisites were on file. After more research on GCU another thing that convinced me was no out of state tuition. That is a big perk. Online classes are my only option
Motivation comes from within, and can push someone into action, whether they actually want to or not. No one will do anything unless there is something pushing them from within to do it. An example is the quote 'But a fire burns in my heart. Under the ribs where pulses thud and flitting between bones of skull is the push, the endless mysterious
Motivation is the number one driving force behind anything and everything an individual does each day. “Motivation is the desire to do the best possible job or to exert the maximum effort to perform an assigned task. Motivation energizes, directs, and sustains human behavior directed towards a goal.” (Honor, 2009). Motivation can determine the outcome of projects, goals, and can set limits on what an individual can obtain or what they believe they can obtain. Motivation often is the deciding factor on how successful a project in an organization is, and an individual’s needs and desires can both influence a person’s motivation greatly. Motivation can also determine how well an individual does in school, college, or university.
There is an old saying that with enough motivation, a person can accomplish anything. This means that staying motivated is key for people to achieve their goals. Motivation is key for people to make their dreams become a reality. Without motivation people can’t accomplish the simplest tasks.
Motivation is the “why” behind our behaviors. Behavior that is usually goal-oriented. The forces that lie beneath motivation can be biological, social, emotional or cognitive in nature. There are, indeed, a plethora of inducements that cause us to act the way we act and do the things we do. They include things like quenching our thirst, reading to gain knowledge, studying to ace an exam, surpassing quotas and meeting deadlines for a promotion, etc. According to Kendra Cherry’s article on “WHAT IS MOTIVATION”, there are three components of motivation: activation, persistence and intensity. Activation is the decision to initiate a behavior. Persistence is the continued effort toward a goal even though obstacles may exist. Intensity is the
Motivation can come from two sources, from inside of you and from outside of you. It can come from your hopes and expectations. It is from your desire to do something or to be someone, but not everyone is highly
Motivation is a very strong tool we can use to get further in life and to achieve our dreams and goals. Setting goals for ourselves is something that I consider to be very important, I believe in always pushing myself further and further in life, not only physically but mentally as well. We all have different things or tools we can use to motivate us towards our end goals. In order for us to stay motivated we have to have a goal and be driven towards achieving that goal.
Motivation comes in many different forms and can affect people very differently. I found this to be the clearest definition of motivation:
‘Motivation’ is derived from the Latin term ‘movere’ that means ‘to move’. Thus, motivation is a process that starts with a physiological or psychological deficiency or need that activates a behaviour or a drive that is aimed at a goal or incentive (Luthans). Broadly speaking, motivation is willingness to exert high levels of efforts towards organizational goals, conditioned by the efforts’ ability to satisfy some individual needs (Robbins). Need means some internal state that make certain outcomes appear attractive. An unsatisfied need creates tension that stimulates drives within the individual. These drives generate a search behaviour to find particular goals, that if attained,
Motivation is one of the most discussed topics in the present era’s organisations, especially since renowned psychologists like Maslow and Herzberg are dedicating their efforts to understanding it. Companies are investing a significant amount of resources in improving productivity in order to maximise profits. One of these important resources is of human nature. In order to get the very best out of employees, some motivational approaches need to be used. But what is motivation and how do I successfully motivate? I will try to relate one of my personal experiences with a friend to some of the most influential motivational theories. After introducing my story and making a definition of motivation I will address the ideas of Taylor,
